It looks like it's not a water tight connection where the part connects to the metal cross bar. How does the water drain out that gets inside the rails during rain or washing? Have you noticed any rusting?
Just finished the installation. Thanks to Erick for this video because the instructions in the kit, though usable could be better. The video is the ticket. First, the quality of the rails and cross bars is very good. As he says, the gaskets are not great, in my opinion just ok. Could water get into the channel. Possibly, but I am not going to worry about that. I bought a cheap trim removal kit from amazon...the least expensive, ( 6 bucks, or so)..didn't have to really use my fingers to pry. I popped off the rails in a minute. I had a yard sale Dremel, picked up the cheap diamond cut off wheels from harbor freight. Cutting off the trim went smoothly. (Be careful!- do not kink the trim that your not cutting, I did put a small kink in the good trim) everything bolted up nicely. The last complaint are those plastic cover plates for the cross bars. They suck..the bar end's must be perfectly square to snap on and that was impossible as the bars have to be adjusted to the rails to sit square...but, no big deal, you don't need them. I did get mine on but most likely they will fall off in the future.

The dealer wanted 1000k for the rails and the crossbar I said no. And thank you for giving me an ideas in how to put the dash camera 🎥. I’m really looking forward for the car. I did not like the design LMF the 2023 CRV almost looks like the RAV4 specially the front. Please post more videos of any accessories that you might put on your CRV.

Awesome video! I watched this like 5 times before installing my (amazon purchased) rails on a 2018 CR-V EX. Perfect explanation and my install went just as smoothly! I used a oscillating tool to cut the old channel covers off which made that part way easy. The seals were a little shoddy too - the inside ones laid flat but the outer ones went into channel. I had dirt and whatever in the channels so those original covers don't really keep to much out anyway. Since its painted, I'm not worried - can probably just remove the rails every year or 2 and check for crud/debris (I'm in Canada so more rust potential). It seems bombproof solid once torqued down. Only difference was I used Rhino Rack cross bars. Thanks Erick! @Tim Piper, those star shaped plastic caps can be removed using a torx (T5?) or just pried out. They're plastic and disposable. @David Soh, 26.5" bar to bar

These after market sets seem to be the only sensible way to go. Not going to pay 1k at Honda, for a rack. The only concern is how good are the seals? If the seals are good then this is the answer.

The similar sized Thule AeroBlades are 33 3/4” across. You might be able to get more with an aftermarket model. That said the roof itself is only rated for 165 lbs. That’s not much for a roof tent. CRV Owners Club discussed this and tried to dissuade anyone looking to do that.

yeah when i called in and they told me $900-1k i was like i can put that towards another car. after market sets is a better option

how did you remove the star shaped screw caps? Just a small philips head?
no its a star bit for drills and can attach to ratchet screwdriver. a reg phillips will damage the threads
