Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. It made changing my fuel pump so much easier then it could have been if it weren't for you sharing your method. Thanks and God bless you!
Thanks for this video John, after watching your previous video I thought I was going to have to cut the 3 wires to drop the whole assembly. Well just yesterday I changed my fuel pump on my 2011 crown vic with out cutting any wires and everything went perfect just like this video. The whole assembly came out and lowered down. Only wires I had to cut and crimp was the 2 wires going directly to the replacement pump itself. This was my first time changing a fuel pump on a car.
Hi from, Dan. I took the tire out of the trunk, pulled the mate up. And you see the wire harness plug. I pulled it up. Then a had a very ease way to plug AND UNPLUG THE NEW HARNESS.
On a Ford, you need the OEM number from the top of the sending unit. The dealer needs to know if it has trip minder, electronic cluster, etc. Replace the filter.
Although you can do it without cutting the wires, I find it much easier to cut them and install a connector like I did in my first video. I don't have an ego issue where I must do it the hard way. I believe in working smarter, not harder.
@@JohnDoesGarage I was able to get access to the plug, mainly because some one else was there before me and made it more accessible. Shes on pump #3 now.
On a Ford you may need the number on the sending unit if you order it from the dealer. That means dropping the tank just to get the number! They may need to know if it had trip-minder etc.
Ask your parts guy for the plastic ring kit that unsnips these hoses from the tank. Less than $10 and you' ll need 'em under the hood for any other fuel system repairs as well as a repairs. Stay greasy bro.
So you don't have to take the whole tank out? you have to put it on a high lift to get under it but is their a way to do it without lifting it up.that much?
Jessica Ponticello you do not need a lift to do this job. It can be done using jack stands. Just make sure the vehicle is securely supported before getting under it.
Gotta question for you or anybody who can answer it...I let off the gas when going around a curve like normal but Sometimes when I go to give it gas again coming outta the curve it'll kinda hesitate or stumble, ive done fuel filter plugs coils etc even shift solenoids...btw its an 01 vic...guy i bought it off from 2 yrs ago said they replaced the pump with a new one but idk if he was honest..does anybody have any suggestions...ty u all in advance...
Try changing that fuel filter first. If no help, then you may need to pull that fuel pump and check that last guys work. Is the sock filter collapsed or full of debris? Did one of his angry girlfriends put a few handfuls of dirt in the tank? Loose wire in there or on the wiring bundles around that exterior of the tank? Good luck, bro.
There are plenty of video's available for these Ford/Mercury Fuel-Pump replacement that do much better/simple/clearer @ explaining... This guys explanation is too painful to 👂 hear..!
If you have to drain the fuel the only way is to get a catch pan and loosen the pump plate letting the fuel drain slowly. They put a baffle in the filler neck so you can't run a siphon hose into the tank.
Dude you are all over the place with your explanations but I got the jest of what I needed.
I'm new at the UA-cam thing and I'm really nervous making videos. Please forgive me.
You did better than me. Good job@@JohnDoesGarage
I’m far from being a mechanic, I find your videos very interesting and informative. I think you need a mascot! Like a dog or miniature horse.
You are the man... and the fact you took advice from someone else about the wires then mentioned it makes you a humble man, thank you

I have a 2011 Vic also that I suspecting needs a new fuel pump. Getting ready to do this job myself. Wish me luck
Gonna be my first time doing this, you really saved my ass. Thanks bud!
Thank you for this. I didn't want to cut any wires and this saved my tons of time! Again thank you!

Thanks for your videos!
Ok thank you so much!!also do you advise buying the whole assembly just to get it done or just the pump?
If the fuel gauge works then you really only need to change the pump and it will be a lot cheaper.

Good video 👍👍
Thank you very much.
I have a 03 Grand Marquis fuel pump went bad. Should I replace the pump only or the whole pump assembly. It has never been replaced.
This is an 05 and I only changed the pump itself.
Did ur car hesitate or jerk any upon light acceleration like coming out of a curve or anything..?

@Slick Rick because aftermarket replacement fuel pumps suck.
how do you get those fuel lines off without breaking anything on a 2001 Grand Marquis I own?

Here is an Amazon affiliate link to a comparable set to the ones I use. amzn.to/48mtfUa

What color are the fuel sending unit wires? Blue and white? Which one is the ground? Thanks
Why is he letting it hang from the wire?
well Chris Johnson from 3 years ago I have no idea probably because he felt like it 😂😂
Will the gas leak If I remove the fuel pump
Not very much.
Odd way they placed the tank and the pump.
Leave it to Ford.

I'd have to do some testing. but that smacks of a bad throttle position sensor.
What year is this hose hound ?
1. your last vid was a totally different pump, 2. why did u go into that pigtail talk ?. 3. vid helped alot in other areas.
Where is the fuel pump on a 1989 Grand Marquis? The front of the tank only has an electrical connection, no gas lines.

and half of the shit he dose is not needed
