- Ever dream of starting your own VFX studio? In this video, Director of Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate, Netflix’s Love Death + Robots Tim Miller shares his journey founding Blur Studio.
Since the Deadpool leaked footage - and its coolest superhero - Tim Miller has become known as an acclaimed Director. But Tim has a list of accolades in the VFX industry, not the least of which is launching his own studio: Blur!
Since then, Blur has become one of the leading VFX Studios. In addition, it’s created so much cool content: short film Gopher Broke directed by Jeff Fowler (who went on to direct Sonic); the studio created LDR for Netflix; and Tim Miller and David Fincher have collaborated on a number of projects.
In this Tim Miller interview, Tim talks about his VFX studio setup, growth and development, the importance of having a growth mindset and shares some career advice - and the lessons he’s learned along the way!
Whether you’re a visual effects artist dreaming to work for Blur, an entrepreneur with VFX studio questions, a VFX Supervisor or a VFX studio wonder - check out this career talk with Tim Miller and Allan McKay!

Allan .. You are Amaaaazing man😄😄
I’m honored, thanks brother :) hope you enjoy the video!
I’m curious about blur’s clientele & their services. Do they just stick to cinematics, rough to high fidelity sort of pre-viz, or do they provide full blown VFX support to films?
Traditionally they focused mostly on cinematics and design, but 2015 started to change things up quite a bit so now they do features too
And love death and robots of course and Tim’s personal projects
We used to do short films too which was fun
