"Cause the curtains will match the drapes... IF YOU KNOW WHAT IM SAYINNNNNNNNNN" Most people know the saying but not in correlation with this channel. I've watched so many videos and you, individually, helped me from start to finish on my custom audio install. Everything from choosing my amps, tuning them, and my rack, to my sub itself, the wires and wiring, and the custom enclosure my old man and I built together tuned to my 15. My build is finished aside from the dampening material. My buddy and I will still watch that video from you way back in the day and die laughing at that. Also, when you're carpeting that sub box and start slapping it... haha. A much, less professional you, but all in your adolescence of video making. Just wanted to say thank you for all your advice and clear direction from the beginning to the end. If every category and genre of life had this type of teaching and unwavering support, I think we'd all be in a better place. Kudos to you bro and much love & respect for you and your channel.
That turned out awesome super easy to put together I've seen other videos that consist of building your own frame from wood and having to attach the screen to it but that snap buttons attachment looks so much easier and cleaner looking cant wait to see the final set up with the speakers installed
Very true, Crutchfield made sure I had a projector that could handle plenty of screen size too. I think I could go up 300 inches, so definitely good to go lol.
Out of curiosity. I throughly enjoy learning from your videos. It's made a major difference in my audio quality of my ranger without having to spend a good amount on paying someone to install it and tune it. So thank you so much for that. But I was wondering if you happen to have a video on hooking up car subs to a TV in a house? I just can't seem to figure out how it should be done without a head unit involved. My brain is stupid like that
You would want something to create the audio signal (could just be the TV, but a receiver would be better) much like the head unit. Then you would need amplifiers just like car audio. A home theater amp with plenty of power would be a great choice (check out Crutchfield). Then use the home theater amp to power the sub. With that said there are a lot of powered solutions if you purchase the subwoofer that is made for the home theater application.
One thing to keep in mind, is that car subwoofers don't need a car amplifier. They're the same as any other subwoofer. And it would be a lot easier to just get a home audio amp to run it, rather than the hassle of a car amp. Crown is an awesome brand for ultra clean cheap power.

Me too. I'm about to move into a house where, for the first time, I can have a dedicated media room. The timing of this series is perfect and yes I want to do a rack, so I can't wait for that video.
Hello! I wanna see a guide of you making a soundbar with a dedicated subwoofer. Wired or if the the subwoofer and the soundbar connect wirelessly (wi fi) connection. Minimise the use of wires. I'm Felix. Much love from Kenya 254. 🇰🇪
Wait is car audio fabrication now home audio fabrication my two favorite worlds collide? Ironically it’s amazing how much overlap there is between the two fields in such a practical way. I’d say go with Crutchfield for sure, get a Denon x3700 receiver and klipsch or jamo (if on a budget) speakers. Most importantly always budget more than you planned for future expansion or upgrades.
I've done quite a bit of individual home theater stuff on the channel, but never went through the whole project. The cool thing about home audio is you can definitely upgrade as you go and easily change stuff up in the future.
It really is lol, not nearly as many challenges to overcome with the environment, and its nice that you can start with a clean source easily. Not trying to interface with a vehicles source unit and all the potential issues.
I doubt I’m alone in saying it always comes around full circle. I want a clean clear but physically impressive thump at a reasonable price in my car and livingroom. I think home audio is great at teaching basic principles to gain familiarity in an “ideal environment” as a great training ground with more forgiveness than car audio. Whereas car audio really gets the creative juices flowing and you’re forced to be more independent. However either way the quality of the work all depends on how much prep and forethought is invested. I am incredibly grateful to this channel for really opening my eyes on how to think through these things with an eye for clean craftsmanship. I always measure like 20x & cut once… or twice lol…
@@CarAudioFabrication absolutely agreed - plus the benefits of a presumably clean grounded power source, no alternator hum, less interference from all the a/d d/a conversion, HDMI !!! Don’t get me wrong, my truck is a labor of love, but my home theater (which I am quite proud of) is my true love after all that labor :) Great work on the install, have you thought of partnering up with TechnoDad? If you’re thinking of dipping toes into this pond, I truly think the home theater world could use some of your magic!!
I want to make a box out of carbon fiber to save weight. I work with carbon fiber alot and it is significantly stronger and lighter than fiberglass yet I don't see ANYONE making boxes out of them. Why do you think that is? In my car weight is a huge concern but I needed to keep a system and after researching I found the jl 8w7 is only 17lbs and is the lightest for how much power and sq it makes. I dont want to undo this with a massive 3/4 mdf box though. It needs to be ported to hit the lows as it's an 8. Can you help me see if I can make a box out of cf and have it work ok? It would be very expensive to try and fail
@Andrew Gameau I've vaguely heard thats what the ussue is but dont understand it or why. What if the inside is 2 layers of fiberglass? Would that negate the issue? Can you elaborate more? Im very curious about this!
@Andrew Gameau That was actually an AMAZING description of your point. I understand what you're saying. I never realized that material resonance modulated the sine wave so drastically! It makes sense though. Like light weight sound deadener on chime will ring when hit, which would symbolically be the sub woofer pressure, and still sound high pitched, but the high density tar type sound deadener, will be duller and also lower in pitch. Thats sorta like a hyperbole of what is happening in the subwoofer box if I'm following you correctly right? What about aluminum panels with fiberglass or cf insused to them? or integrating into the steel of the rear parcel shelf of the vehicle and welding a (very) thin steel enclosure? I need to keep the weight down as much as possible. Each 50lbs of weight removed from my car cost's me about $1500 at this point so im undoing some very expensive mods adding a sub. Music is worth it to me though. I have a 20lb JL 13TW52-2. I tried the 8W7AE but the box requirements made the weight untennable. Any insight would be much appreciate how to build a light box that will resonate low if you know anything. Thank you very much for your reply! That possibly saved me alot of trouble 😉
I have friends that have done this, it works, but it is not even close to the same image quality. If you are building a budget theater by all means but it doesn't compare to a quality screen.
Can't get larger than 85" though without being tens of thousands of dollars for a TV. TV's are great but IMO for a true "theater" experience you have to have the larger screen size.
@@CarAudioFabrication i agree man And thats a good point but I would buy a projector if they have decent color correction so I can make the black more black but the only one I found like that is 1800+ and doesn't support arc so I just bought a 75 inch 4k oled for around that price and I love it
Yeah they definitely are more pricey than TV's. But like anything tech it comes down over time. I'm really excited to see how these laser short throw projectors start to evolve.
