2:28 "Everything in this room is eatable. Even I'm eatable. But that is called cannibalism, my dear children, and is, in fact, frowned upon in most societies." Funniest bit of dialogue in the whole movie.
something i really like about this scene is that it really shows augustus’ greed overtaking him. because in the original, and even in the book, what happens is that wonka gives the kids free reign of the room and waits until augustus is drinking from the river to say, “wait not that”. so logically, there’s the argument that augustus didn’t really do anything wrong. but here is actually shows him going overboard and being so overwhelmed with avarice (specifically avarice too, as several times he spits the food in his mouth out to make room for more) that he loses control of himself. i think it’s more to say that i like how this version committed to making him a greedy, antagonistic bad kid, rather than just a fat kid who’s been overfed by clueless parents
There was also that moment in the scene before the Chocolate Room where everyone was still in lobby, Augustus baited Charlie by asking him if he wanted chocolate, Charlie earnestly answers "Yes," then Augustus dickishly retorted "Then you should have brought some." Augustus probably already knew Charlie was poor and starving and wanted to rub it in his face that he's better off like a greedy bully, and to tip off to the audience that we really shouldn't be sorry for him.
Unfortunaly, the musical(s) also show him just doing what Wonka Say. And taking in count that, in the musical he's turn Into chocolate and eated up, they should have done better, like in this movie

I really do think all the children represent the seven deadly sins. not all seven, but 5/7. Obviously, Augustus would be gluttony, he’s obsessed with eating and is fat. He sabotages himself and breaks the rules because he’s too busy eating the chocolate river. Violet is pride, she calls herself the best and is always trying to make it seem like she’s going to win the prize. Veruca is greed, as she constantly wants everything. ‘I want an Oompa Loompa now!’ She already has everything, but she wants more. Mike is sloth. He’s lazy, always playing games or watching TV. I think Charlie is envy as he’s jealous of the other kids. He’d jealous of Willy Wonka, he’s jealous of the kids who get chocolate everyday. The only ones left are wrath and lust. Willy Wonka could be used for Wrath, he’s a sociopath and doesn’t care for the children, he’s strange and angry. Lust probably isn’t used as this is a kids film and book, a prostitute probably would be very child friendly. What do you think?
There are two kids that were deleted from the book. One of them is a schoolgirl named Miranda who hates everything fun, so she could be wrath. The other is a conceited boy named Marvin, he could be lust.
My man started eating the grass and the got way over his head and decided to swim in chocolate Love the way he was almost eating himself at the end of the movie
Yes, but all the other children are obnoxious little shits; at least in the original version they weren't like this to Charlie, so perhaps they are slightly more deserving of sympathy.
I like how supposedly the worst parent of the bunch is the only one who gives Wonka that look like: “Did you really need to tell kids about cannibalism?”

Because the boss of the music is Danny Elfman.

Who else thinks Tim burton should make Charlie and the great glass elevator?
(The sequel book to Charlie and the chocolate factory)
No please
well... Netflix is planning to make an animated Roald Dahl series set to release either this year or next year
Iirc dahl's widow doesn't allow it and/or the book is not finished.
That or I misremember it from the grinch book creator (because of mike myer's cat in boots adaptation)
Nya, I wish. I wish. I've been wanting to see a movie based on the second book ever since I saw this adaptation in theaters. It's not fair that there are two films based in the first book and neither on the second. C'mon! There's aliens, aging and rejuvenating pills, mystery, and all kinds of amazing imagery!
acually there is a wonka sequal film coming out this year

I love that roast lol
In the original book, Mrs. Salt says that line.
Lmaoo
I should finish Mr. Teavee’s sentence: ….that you look like my fifth grade social studies teacher.
Ironic how he can hardly pay attention to his own kid when he works with teenagers for a living.
I still can't believe willy wonka is Johnny depp!💀
Speaks volumes about how talented he is.
I kinda agree 👍
There are two kids that were deleted from the book. One of them is a schoolgirl named Miranda who hates everything fun, so she could be wrath. The other is a conceited boy named Marvin, he could be lust.
I dont think charlie is envy.
@@spelaistenic5204 Then who would be envy? Besides, I think Charlie is a little jealous of the other kids for having a better a life than him.
I think Mike represents Wrath and Sloth, he's a lazy couch potato but he's also prone to angry outbursts.

That was rude wat the bubblegum girl said to charile 😔
Yes, but all the other children are obnoxious little shits; at least in the original version they weren't like this to Charlie, so perhaps they are slightly more deserving of sympathy.
Im chuwing bubblegum now
Wait till all her teeth fall out from weak gums.
They all represent the seven deadly sins
