🔥🔥🔥 Just so you know not everyone is a guitarist in here, well you probably know that 🤣. The 1st time I ever heard this song I literally had to run upstairs and grab my Bluetooth speaker and rewind with the volume as loud as I. Plus and finish it. Seriously was floored, amped, chills, hairs standing up on my arms, amazed and every other emotion you can feel when your are blessed to hear something as amazing as this. I have always wanted to play guitar, when you talk about all the cords and keys all I hear is nuclear science talk 😂. But I truly cannot get enough of everyone on UA-cam that does what you do. A lot of my time is spent on watching anything to do with guitars, from you, Lemmo at Norms, Trogly, Max, Daryl Braun, Rhett Shull, yes he is the man, and everyone in between. Thank you !🙏
Man, You can really feel Mike’s excitement with this one, Black Pumas are serious. Can tell he loves to teach and this one from how animated he is. That’s why I watch - hex passionate about teaching guitar. Nice to see.
Love love love seeing a chord progression demonstrated and analyzed like this in real time! Grabbed my guitar, I could play along with this tune immediately. One of the best lessons I've ever had!

Aside from this song being a work of art I'd just like to say that this content is so engaging and educational. Your musical prowess is impressive, and not only do we get to enjoy your reaction to good music, but we get to benefit from the knowledge you share as you analyze it. This is exactly what UA-cam should be. Much respect.
I noticed someone else mentioned St. Paul & the Broken Bones - I second this. Convex has a fantastic groove and melody. Also noticing a lot of people recommending End of the Affair by Ben Howard on here and I second that. I would also add "In Dreams", one of my favs from Ben.
Just got home after checking out this new band called Black Pumas... and BAM Michael the psychic guitar wizard hits me with an overdose of sweet melodic goodness. Always a pleasure
thank you for helping find different music to listen to that I wouldn't normally seek out, I love it! But more than that, love your knowledge and understanding of music theory and the little noodles and solos over the songs are so damn good. Keep doing you my man, appreciate ya!
As a fairly competent guitarist who knows shit all about theory, your videos really give me a broader understanding of the instrument. Thanks and keep em coming.
@@Guitargate thanks for this man! Dig this song, but most importantly, you are more than just your standard guitar channel. You almost Force me to pick up the instrument and play after watching you. Thanks bro!
You've grown on me mate, your knowledge is undeniable, but after watching you jam on one of your videos and hearing the quality of your playing i now am a huge fan. Keep it up brother.
As a "since 1977" guitar player (still playing and recording in L.A.) I really value dudes like you. Willing to film this kind of exploration and breakdown of a song's structure in a guitar context. I hear a song like this and think in my head, "Oh, I get it" without really putting in any legwork. Trust me, I have songs that I obsess about and research and learn note-for-note, but I love your smart, fast, accurate assessment of a tune. I watched this while holding my guitar (which I would recommend if you would like to retain any of the lesson) Watched all 29:20, but I'm 55 and don't really do the SUBSCRIBE thing so I'm hoping my well-written endorsement compensates. Keep this shit up!
Man that was so exciting to listen to . I'm a beginner in improvisation but I managed to follow your explanations and waou that blew me away... i love so much music and that kind of piece is a true trip to the harmony of the heart.
This is easily the best way to learn guitar. Using great songs as case studies is so useful and really inspires me to pick up my guitar and learn with you. Thank you Man!
“That’s the money shot... that’s why the groove makes you want to move!” 🎸🔥 Killer band and song...definitely has a Robert Cray or Robert Randolph “Baptize Me” vibe to it. Love it...excellent breakdown as always!
Maaaaan!! I mean I've been listening to this song since mid august non-stop.. but seeing your video and how your reacting to this song surely made my day, and as a guitarist, you've really added some points for me to think about. So in overall, LOVED IT, and subscribed immediately.
I only found out about the Black Pumas during the 2021 Grammy's and man was I enthralled. Everytime I hear the first words I get goose bumps. Watching you review Colors is equally entertaining with your enthusiasm and your skill/talent at picking up the nuances that make the guitar playing of Colors so captivating. Honestly, I don't understand much when you get into the details of the notes/cords/5ths/3rds etc but I did understand using the E# to transition from the E to the F# (or at least I think I understood you lol). Your reviews are great and they help me with my guitar learning. Thank you very much Michael!!!

This was a delight to watch. Firstly, though my grasp on music theory is tenuous at best, I found it super informative. Secondly, it was so satisfying to see someone else flip out about this tune, like I did when I first saw this video. You are one likeable dude, Michael Palmisano.
Once again man, you give off so much energy! I love the way you get nitty gritty with the theory, so much so that I bought your course on Udemy! Looking forward to it!
