I thought the same way before I played it with some Deadpool friends and people who like chaos over winning. It was fun, almost more watching them have fun and be silly than the game. I don't play drinking games but I think that was the experience, just without the drinking. Still not one I want to play often but a majority of my friends want this more often then I do.
I like Lady Deadpool and Bob. I might simply remove the two cards from Deadpool’s deck that tell you to draw a silly card. I don’t see anything wrong with a survival mode where you go for a top score instead of defeating Villain Deadpool. I like this expansion more than Phoenix Five.
Is it a mode I'd want to use often? No. Am I glad Lady Deadpool and Gwenpool exist for a more "normal" Deadpool experience in typical games? Absolutely. But I am really really glad this set exists the way it does (and no better character for it) because it's Something Completely Different that you can pull out when people are in a silly mood. Plus I HAVE to get usage out of that Kidpool card while my kids are still young.
I just played this for the first time last night. I liked it, but my friends LOVED IT. We played a normal game against ebony maw afterwards and after getting destroyed by maw everyone wanted to play against dp again, and we added chaos mode. I fear my friends wont ever wanna play the normal game ever again and just wanna try and get to 50 points vs dp 😅
Such a pity! Marvel United is my favourite game and Deadpool is my favourite Marvel character. He could've been such a great "regular" hero and villain. Glad to have the minis though and Lady Deadpool will have to stand in for the original to get my Deadpool fix in normal games. Bob looks like fun though. Haven't taken him on yet.
for people who haven't played this yet and may be disappointed by this review... before you sell your copy!; I get the feeling that tom (and zee, for that matter) would rather be the ones being funny at the table than allowing the game itself to suceed at being a funny experience (a la comedians going to a comedy show. and that is fine!). this set makes for a completely different game though, that, I dare say, "non-boardgamers", or even people who are a little used to marvelunited, will enjoy as a very different, quite zany, experience from the normal game. id literally never play this solo, but I'd get it before any of the character+1villain packs (first class, black panther, guardians, etc). id rather an expansion give me a different experience than simply a new pose of the original experience.
If you like it great. I’m guessing your a Deadpool fan and he mentioned that if that’s the case you’ll likely enjoy. For me this expansion is like if 7 Wonders Babel went on a sugar binge until it puked. But again if you like Deadpool you probably like obnoxious, random stuff… I kid I kid! Uncanny Xforce Deadpool was the best Deadpool though.
I wouldn't mind chaos, but '4th wall chaos', even if funny, is funny once. If I'm a horse owner benefitting from the card you shown, I'll still be a horse owner next game, gaining aome advantage. And non animal owners will most likely won't go get a dog to get the card to apply to them. So it's really a one-shot thing.
Lady Deadpool is such a great hero to round out a team and really fun. Bob is a wacky villain but unfortunately agree with the rest. It feels like it’s designed for a party gaming night, which can be fun with the right people but not something that fits this game necessarily. On the plus side the models are fantastic!
The hero sculpt is pretty lackluster IMO. I would of liked a Deadpool character if just to round out an Uncanny X-force squad but not for all this silliness.
I immediately sold this when I got my all-in (at a very decent price - I won't be part of the price inflation). It's too bad, because I love Deadpool as a character
I don't mind chaos, like: move all character to another location or whatever...that's OK, but what is not OK is stuff like, the character controlled by the last player to go to the bathroom takes a point of damage. Or even worse, the pets thing makes it a handicap for players with no pets, every time. BS of the ultimate order.
Have you seen how many Marvel characters there are in the comics? There's tons of expansions and even promo character boxes, and they still left out a lot of significant ones. I love games with expansions and I'm all here for these.
Yet here you are, basking in the comments of your hatred. Thanks for your time Chris! Each Marvel character gets a sort of unique deck and a mini but it’s really the minis and nostalgia getting us for this series.
Has anyone ever hated something as much as Tom hates Deadpool?

"Hey Tom, want to go to DeadpoolCon this Sunday?"
"Ohh, sorry. I had a root canal I was looking forward to getting done on Sunday."

This set was worth it for me just for Bob ha! I think he's hilarious. But it's also cause I got this expansion for cheap lol
I just want the deadpool miniatures

didn't eric lang say this was the best expansion?
Another negative aspect is paying for 5 miniatures and actually getting only 3 characters! =p

I love Deadpool, he's a little gory, but I love the idea of his character
I want it!! 😂😂
The Unhinged Marvel United

Tom is getting grumpy. Who does not love breaking the 4th wall

Ha skip it! I agree I want to beat the hell of a boss not feel like oh I can never win.
How are there so many of these? I hate games that have 50 expansions

202 Total Characters spread over 20-ish boxes, base games included.
