- * Best in 1080p HD * This vid has been requested by a firefighter in Louisiana. He asked my opinion on a couple of ZT models. So, I decided to show a few more options. I realize there are plenty more options available. These are just the ones I have to show without digging through my bug out bags. Hope this helps. God bless!
I ran across a few old Kershaw/Emerson collaboration knives in my collection the other day and decided to disassemble them, clean and lube them, and give them another chance. You know what? They're not bad at all...in some respects as good or better than their Emerson counterparts, of which I have considerable direct experience. So, yesterday when I was looking for a larger, rugged new knife, and I could easily have spent hundreds, I decided I liked the looks of the Kershaw/Emerson CQC-11 that is now available in D2 steel. Damn nice, rugged, economical, strong and smoothly functioning knife. Looks good, too. I immediately ground off that pocket-catching wave hook like I do with all my knives that come with them. I don't like that they catch on your pocket when you don't want them too. Who needs a trip to the OR when you could be spending the money on another toy? Anyway, people should give that Kershaw/Emerson CQC-11 in D2 another look if they haven't already. Way less than $100 for $300 quality, IMHO of course. It's also relatively thin through the handle so fits in your pocket way better than regular thicker Emersons. I also have one of those ZT 0620's, and I have to say the extra cost really is way worth it. Glass smooth, beautifully crafted, and tough as nails all the way around. And I ground the wave feature off of that too. And one last word about Emerson knives, and the collabs with Kershaw. If you get a kick out of disassembling, cleaning and tuning your knives, there are not many easier to do that with than the Emersons. A slotted screwdriver and a little Philips head is all you'll need, and a little of your favorite lube. Quick and easy. A huge advantage for a rugged outdoor user. To me, that feature alone makes Emerson's worth it.
Recon 1 has been my duty blade for 9 years and I have BEAT on it and it's still running like a tank.
Excellent video buddy. If he wasn't concerned with weight, I would definitely say the No Time Off would be an excellent choice for hard use and low cost.
A few people have beat me to it but hope all is well, looking forward to more vids. Congrats on over 5k subs man. People love your content.
I've been EDCing a kershaw manifold. Got it as a gift last christmas from my girl. It's a good blade for $20 or so. Full steel handle framelock so it could be a bit heavy for some but for a 6'1" 200 pound guy it's perfect for me.
The 0620 such a bad ass knife. Well made excelent steal there has been some shit talk about it but when you have great knife makers saying it is well made then that's all you need to hear. I think zt collaborations are very well made great vid...
Recon 1, zt o562cf, ultimate hunter, benchmade loco, manix 2, that's my rotation... good choices on your list. I don't have an Emerson I didn't like the wave feature when I handled it in the store. After watching your video maybe I'll take a second look.
Very nice collection indeed!!
I have the 0620 and 0562cf but i wanted 0630 love the blade design. The problem is sold out every we're.The knife that surprised me was the ruger it looked like a Jake hoback and i might have to pick that one up.For the price i will thrash on that for work. The funny thing is peaple talk shit about the 0620 and i have to say that is one of my favorite knifes. The 0620 is so smooth right now that i could spider flick this as well as all the other opening features.Great vid great knifes...
Agreed brother, well said! 👍
great video brotha what a collection
Thanks bud. Just a few options. Was hard picking just enough to fit in frame. Obviously have plenty more, but I think these represent a good range of different companies, pricing...etc..
great video sir
Just picked up the 0620 for $160 on Blade HQ steal of a deal man I'm loving it badass blade looking at getting the 0630 now lol
The 0630 is my favorite. Enjoy them brotha!
Older Hinderer with the weaker detent would be good too imho, not for in theater , cost, but a barley used xm-18's are around the 350 mark now a days and with the weaker detent gravity open for fast deployment , but like you said ZT is making some awesome knives , xm slicer vs 562cf ZT made it a harder chose then it once was , great channel love watching and we probably go to the same Facebook pages for knives I'm James Perzia , take it easy brother
Lol....no Facebook bud. Appreciate the kind words. Think those are great choices. Love the XM-18s. Thinking 350 is above what he wanted to spend though. Take care brotha.
Hurry man make another video please keep up the good work man !!!!
Missing the vids man I hope all is well your way and looking forward to more videos !!!
Great Info Brother! Carry On!
Hard use ZT: 0909 Les George. I own the 0562 and it's a great knife, but for hard use edc tasks, the 0909 is my usual go-to.
Can't argue with that! Great knife!
Very impressive knives and a good review. IMO a firefighter needs something less tactical than those presented here, which may be better for police and military. The firefighter should check out Spyderco (which you mentioned), Kershaw, CRKT, etc. Thanks for a good review.
Indeed, thanks for sharing brother.
Thanks for sharing, a lot of great choices.
Thank you very much! That really helps me out a lot
Never a problem bud. Thanks for the vid idea..lol. Stay safe brotha.
I'm selling a ZT 0562 CF if you're interested
+FapGatUSA email me@ foxteammoto@aol.com
+Christopher Shadoin just sent one
Different language but great test of ZTs frame lock. ua-cam.com/video/AW0TVkcBFkw/v-deo.html
The 0560 would be my choice for that perfect balance of EDC and duty. Can't lose with an older 200 or 300 either. They are a little grippier.
Wasn't easy. Had the 0560 in my hand. Another great choice.
Good selection spec. You can't beat an Emerson for fast deployment
Don't forget fit, finish, and overall beauty................................
For an emt knife look at the spyderco assist
If you had to take one knife with you to a construction job, and use it to pry, hammer, stab and have it fall 40 ft onto concrete, which knife would you pick that would survive the torture?
I wouldn’t use a knife for that...... Pry bar, Hammer, nail punch...... seems like all you need. But on a serious note. Out of these on the table. IMO the Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter is the most sturdy.
look at that table full of goodness!!!
Older video, but I had to mention the BM contego, even though the axis lock failed on him.
Have always wanted one, great knife for sure. 👍
Great video man, yeah I just don't see the point in blinging out hard use blades with carbon fiber....G10 for me all way
Keep u the great work!.
What do u think of a, Para 2 as my big blade and a mini grip as my people friendly knife & also a Victorinox Cadet on my keychain?
Those sound like some great choices bud.
Good vid buddy
Zt Emerson>Normal Emerson
Did u say no Spyderco for lock strength of the ergonomics?
Just the ones I had....Never really rubbed me as a hard use company in general. Love spyderco, but think these represent more hard use. Thanks for tuning in brotha!
you forgot the benchmade 810 contego. I've been using it for eeeeeverything for a year and a half now
Didn't forget it bud. Just don't own one....lol. But yes, that's a pretty sweet blade for sure. Was actually looking at the fixed blade version. Thanks for sharing brotha.
whats with the voice changer? you sound like Jaws out of the old bond movie.
nick bould Just me bud. Thanks for tuning in.
Wheres spec???? We miss u mann. This is ur neighbor from orlando florida. Let me know whats up.
Hinderer XM18 .. any blade style 👍🏼
Agreed, but his limit is 250-300.
+Spec-Operator 4 .. aahh , then yes sir i agree with u %100 .. but with a couple more $ he can step into a whole new world .. im sure u kno as well as i do , hes GONNA end up crossing that 4-$600 range SOONER OR LATER , so my advice is just GO 4 IT .. instead of bullshitting urslf and buying a BUNCH of $200 knives because u havnt quite talked urslf into it yet ( like i did) ..just jump in with both feet brother .. itll save u alot of time and $ 👍🏼
+OVERPROTECTIVEFATHER.45ACP Very well said brotha! Agreed!
+OVERPROTECTIVEFATHER.45ACP ps.. Loving the name of your channel!
+Spec-Operator 4 no channel sir .. im just a spectator in the Utube world.. ur channel is definetly 1 of the best .. great job brother 👍🏼
