Phanteks is really bad with their RBG instructions. Many people have complained and they haven't bothered to address it. When I was doing my build in the P400A Digital a few years back, I had to look at a Lian Li instruction manual to figure out what the hell to do.
same here, I even emailed Phanteks for help since the G360 case came with 3x Phanteks SK120mm and the connectors and instructions where confusing. (CPU cooler fans are already plugged into CPU fans port. Thanks for your help!
The splitter has 1 4pin that is PWM and allows the MOBO to recognize and control the fan speed based off of the fan connected ONLY to the 4 pin. The others only have 3 pin and can not be speed controlled separately. They receive their power based of the reading the MOBO gets from the single 4 pin. So 1 fan to rule them all. Good video :)

Depending on the motherboard I would take caution on putting 2+ fans on 1 motherboard header due to over powering the header from the fans power request. It might be better to get a fan controller hub that will plug in a SATA power connector to it and then plug all fans too the hub this will take away the overloading power request from the fans on the motherboard. However great video explaining RGB and PWM fans daisy chain to the case!
The reason the fan power splitter has 1x 4 pin and 2x 3 pin is that it will only take the rpm readout from 1 fan. If you had 3 fans reporting rpm it would cause issues with fan speed reporting.
Remember peeps! When controlling fan speed in the motherboard bios, 4 pin fan (PWM) fan can control using PWM mode. But 3 pin fans (non-PWM) needs to be powered using DC power instead of PWM, if not you will get 100% fan speed with 3 pin fans (your default 3 front intake fans) all the time. Hope this helps!

my front fans are spinning, but not lighting up. i figured it out. i just had to unplug the rbg connection! ha! i had the female and male plugged into each other.
The extra fan splitter is not necessary if you have enough 4pin headers on your motherboard. It might be a little cleaner for cable management to connect them though.
@@tummyhawk9274 each fan needs a 4pin header, so for 5 fans you need 5 headers, I just got the same case with a Tuf x570-plus, that Mobo only has 3 fan headers + 1 cpu fan header, I had to connect an exhaust fan using sata, but I'm planning on buying 2 fan splitter (3x1) to only use two fan headers to connect 6 fans
The 3 case fan cables should just be connected to the 3 pins on the motherboard next to where the USB-C plug is, no need to daisy chain those. Since the case did come with an adapter, I would use those on the other three fans; this way there is no reason to buy another adapter.
Nice tutorial. I bought the exact same setup and was struggling to figure out how to connect the power. Did you buy the DZS Elec splitter or the TeamProfitcom splitter?
Im very confused. I bought the P500A case with 3 140mm front fans, as well as I bought 3 120mm for the top, and 1 140mm for the rear. Do i need additional cables to be able to get the RGB to work? I have not received any of the fans yet, so im kind of stressed out if they won't work as I receive them.
I have the same case and fans! If you managed to set up the fans and rgb i'm curious if you could be kind enough to tell me how you did it. Thank you in advance :)
One more question. Looking at the specs for the sk140s, they need a max of 0.36A. Most motherboards have 1A headers. Are you worried about connecting more than 2 fans per header?
A question for my special case in particular. I wanna buy the P400A and it comes with the included 120mm fans. My mainboard is not capable of ARGB (MSI B450 Gaming Plus ). It only has 12V 4 Pin JRGB Connectors. I am gonna buy some additional 140mm fans as well for more intake at the front and put the 120mm up the back and on the roof of the case. If I understood this correctly I can only control the RGB Lighting through the daisy chained RGB Fans over the cases own RGB Controls and not through a software, cause my MB does not support ARGB. Would appreciate your help and thx in advance.
Hi. I'm actually having a similar issue. I have the asus tuf x570 plus wifi mobo which has 2 4 pin RGB headers, and phanteks p360a case which fans only have the 3 pin adapter. I want to sync everything together including the case fans with Aura Sync using my Mobo, but I'm not sure if I can do that. Did daisy chaining them all allow you to use your mobo to control RGB rather than the case controls?

Hello! So you can just connect all the fans to eachother and the last cable in the motherboard? I wanna use the bottons that are in the front at the chassis. Or do i need to buy some kind off splitter or hub or anything? Btw i want to use 5 fans if that matters
So what he does with connecting the D-RGB connector to the M/B D-RGB connector to control the lights with the buttons on the front is wrong. Don’t plug those two connectors together and the buttons will work perfectly. You can plug them in together, but the buttons don’t work properly and the lights reset everytime you power on. I came to this video trying to figure out what that male d-rgb connector is for and I have no idea.
@@TheBenrosse if you are referring to the male in the back (down at the middle) it is to continue the daisy chain, I use it to connect my aio fan and rear fan rgb cables. I'm thinking of buying the P500A as well, do you think it would be possible to put 3 SK120mm fans at the front (not inside the case but in the front panel) and use the 140mm ones that come with the case as exhaust?
Wheee does the last fan in into. You said it plugs into the final RGB that plugs into the D RGB. What’s the final RGB connector that plugs into the D RGB
i only have three 4 pin connectors and sata power do i need rgb header?? i dont have one can i still use rgb? can u pls send me what connectors i need? like 4 pin and etc. THANK YOU
Step 8 says d-rgb lighting, sata cable to power supply. What cable do I use? Does that give it power instead of needing to buy an additional connector? Or do I still need to buy that splitter? Im so lost. About in tears (first time builder). I have a Asus Prime Z490-A motherboard.
Your power supply should have come with a cable that you can plug the sata connector into. I know this was 5 months ago, sorry. I just bought this case and have an Asus Prime Z390-a motherboard, which doesn’t even have addressable rgb headers, so I don’t even have an option to plug the case fans into the motherboard. I was so pissed
Hi. I cannot for the life of me find the M/B D-RGB cable. Was it extra or something? I've traced along the whole fan and rgb daisy chains multiple times and stillc an't locate it. I feel like i'm going crazy!
Hi, I just completed my build and am in troubleshooting everything. My fan rgb for all fans are only partially turning on. They were all working at some point but I pulled something out and moved things around and now I’m completely lost.
So where the stock fans already connected and ready to plug in to the motherboard or do I have to do it? (This is my first build and once I opened that back panel I was overwhelmed by the amount of cables lol kinda intimidating I don’t wanna fuck anything up) 😳
For the rgb cables, is there a limit to how many i can daisy chain? I’m buying this case with an extra fsk fan for the rear, and im buying an ek aio 360 cooler which has 3 rgb fans, so that’s 7 fans in total. I was asking around and find that you can just keep daisy chaining rgb connectors and connect it to only one 3pin rgb header. Is this true? Can you give me advice?
3 years old but did you find out? I'm trying to find this out... I have 4 fans daisy chained and RGB into 1 addressable header, I want to add an aio that uses another addressable header, can I just add it to the splitter and it'll work and not over power the single 3 pin addressable header?
Did you have to buy the non-braided splitter that you connected the case fans to also or was it just the braided spitter that you plugged the extra fans that you purchased into?
My p500a case didn’t have the the wire to connect the 3 front fans to power there was no way for me to get power to the fans so the built in controller dosent work I had to connect to the motherboard, do u think they messed up and didn’t ship me a cord with the case that’s connects the 3 front fans to power to the controller.
Hey man im building a system in this bought 3x phantexs 140d aswell. My question is if asus strix x570e have enough fan slots to do this without buying splitters.Cause i cant find those splitters in my country or i cant understand if they are the same.Im thinking of buying the phanteks hub if i can tell this motherboard has enough fan headers or not im really confused tbh.ty in advance.
Yes. The case comes with a splitter that I used to plug all 3 (included) case fans into 1 of the fan controllers on my motherboard. The splitter I bought on Amazon I used for the 3 additional fans I purchased (again to 1 of the fan controllers on my motherboard). Hope this helps!
Also I recommend the RGB-controller from the case instead of the mobo if you have asus motherboard. Their rgb software is a buggy clusterfuck mess sometimes it spikes up to 50% cpu usage.
The only thing I can’t quite figure out is how to connect the case rgb light bar. I daisy chained the rgb for all the fans and then used the cable included with the 3 fan pack to connect to jrainbow header. I connected the extra fans with its included splitter to a single header and the 3 front ones to their own headers on the mobo. If I connect the case rgb light bar to one of the front panel cables and then the front front panel rgb connector to a jrainbow will it light/sync the light bar?
rgb case light bar is powered from the sata plug on the case. Plug in the sata plug to your power supply and the buttons on the top of case will now control light bar strip and light bar on top front of case...seperate from fans RGB
Super useful! Do you suggest going with the 2 power splitters as in your case or maybe get something like a Phanteks Universal Fan Controller which can control both 3-pin and PWM at the same time? It's just 13£ more than the splitters basically. But, with the splitters, you can have 2 separate speed profiles for your fans right?
i have a question. so if you buy this case and you also buy the other extra fans, will it say how to do this in the manuals of one of them or does it just leave you to figure it out on your own?

my front fans are spinning, but not lighting up. i figured it out. i just had to unplug the rbg connection! ha! i had the female and male plugged into each other.
Is the additional Fan splitter necessary for having the 3 case fans + 2 extra fans?
The extra fan splitter is not necessary if you have enough 4pin headers on your motherboard. It might be a little cleaner for cable management to connect them though.
@@eyesonstuff8263 do you by any chance know how many 4pin headers are needed for the 3 stock fans +2 additional case fans?
@@tummyhawk9274 each fan needs a 4pin header, so for 5 fans you need 5 headers, I just got the same case with a Tuf x570-plus, that Mobo only has 3 fan headers + 1 cpu fan header, I had to connect an exhaust fan using sata, but I'm planning on buying 2 fan splitter (3x1) to only use two fan headers to connect 6 fans
@@nerv2500 how many rgb headers would be needed ?
@@tummyhawk9274 not sure about that one , still figuring that out but I believe only one is needed if the fans are "chained"
The 3 case fan cables should just be connected to the 3 pins on the motherboard next to where the USB-C plug is, no need to daisy chain those. Since the case did come with an adapter, I would use those on the other three fans; this way there is no reason to buy another adapter.
Shoudn't you connect so many fans to one 1A fan connector unless it's a different connector ?
Nice tutorial. I bought the exact same setup and was struggling to figure out how to connect the power. Did you buy the DZS Elec splitter or the TeamProfitcom splitter?

if you daisy chain them do they act as 1 fan when selecting colour or can you set the colours differently for each fan?

Isn't it 3A?
Did you ever find out how to connect these fans cuz i got the same mobo as you, and having a lot of trouble.
@@mich7165 yeah i did. I daisy chained all of them together and did not connect them to the internal ARGB Female Plug and it worked fine.
@@shuzumaki my mobo has no 3 Pin ARGB Connector so i cant use any programs to adress the rgb of the fans. If you have a 3 Pin ARGB header on your MOBO you should be able to daisy chain all of them together and use a software to control the lighting
@@torejung5188 mine are not lighting up. i press the case button and nothing changes, but the fans are spinning. i did not hook up the argb female plug, so i am not sure why i am not getting lighting? you daisy chained them to what? i plugged the sata connection in. what else do i need to do?
i bought 2 phanteks sk pwm 120's have set them up and daisy connected all of them but dont know where to connect the male one after that, it doesnt fit anywhere and i dont have any connecter to match it, i know i have to get some sort of adapter but i dont know what.
Here is a link to the 4 Way PWM Fan Splitter Cable I used in the video (I only used 3 of the 4 connectors, so there is one that is unused).
www.amazon.com/DZS-Elec-Splitter-Sleeved-Extension/dp/B07FNQC63R/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=dzs+elec+4pin+1+to+4+way&qid=1602553995&s=electronics&sr=1-1
Sorry for the delay getting the link!
So my case doesn’t have that, it has 3 pins right next to each other
Every time I turn on my pc the rgb preset stays the same not quite im not sure why yours reset. Perhaps there is a loose cable, take a look at the hub located at the top of case behind the front mesh if everything is properly connected
Does this kit include a controller to power RGB lights from SATA? my motherboard has only 12v rgb.
awesome guide
Brother Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for this tutorial.
At 5:30, where did you connect that last female connector to?
Ya i have the same question
I have a tomohawk b450 max 2 motherboard and I cant conect the 3 pin to motherboard what can I do cause controlling lights through case sucks
How do you change the colour of the fans once they're plugged into your mobo?
Nevermind. Figured it out. Downloaded Dragon Center lol
hey can i ask you something? i have this same case and i plugged everything into my MOBO( msi mpg z490 gaming edge wifi), but when i turned on my PC My DRGB fans on the front panel started spinning but they didnt light up. idk what i did wrong but maybe you can help me . Did they light up for you?
@@JesusRodriguez-xg4to did you ever figure this out? same problem
@@JesusRodriguez-xg4to did you figure this out? same issue.
okay i figured out my issue. i just had to unplug the rbg connection! i had the female and male plugged into each other.
The reason Y splitter has one 4 pin and all two has 3 pin is one fan that connects to 4 pin send PWM signal to Motherboard.
I am confused about one thing, can i daisy chain the case fans with other companies fans that use the standard argb/drgb header? (for example, the coolemaster mf140)
I'm thinking of buying the P500A as well, do you think it would be possible to put 3 SK120mm fans at the front (not inside the case but in the front panel) and use the 140mm ones that come with the case as exhaust?
Yes you can but why would you use the larger fabs for exaust?
Thank you! Great video!
How does the mobo recognize the four different fans attached to the fan splitter? Are they individually controllable in terms of fan speed?
My fans are working fine but the case RGB light bar is not working please help me.
So if your mobo doesn't have an argb header, you can use the buttons on the case instead?
Hi. I cannot for the life of me find the M/B D-RGB cable. Was it extra or something? I've traced along the whole fan and rgb daisy chains multiple times and stillc an't locate it. I feel like i'm going crazy!
Mine has it, contact phanteks :/
Hi, I just completed my build and am in troubleshooting everything. My fan rgb for all fans are only partially turning on. They were all working at some point but I pulled something out and moved things around and now I’m completely lost.
Where does the power sw cord go to on the asus rog strix b550-f gaming ii motherboard? Please help.
So where the stock fans already connected and ready to plug in to the motherboard or do I have to do it? (This is my first build and once I opened that back panel I was overwhelmed by the amount of cables lol kinda intimidating I don’t wanna fuck anything up) 😳
I have the same case. The stock fans are already daisy chained together
I have 4 fans daisy chained and RGB into 1 addressable header, I want to add an aio that uses another addressable header, can I just add it to the splitter and it'll work and not over power the single 3 pin addressable header?
how many fans can daisy chained? any limit for amperage?
Life saver
Did you have to buy the non-braided splitter that you connected the case fans to also or was it just the braided spitter that you plugged the extra fans that you purchased into?
What about the light strip down by the psu? Would you daisy chain it aswell to keep the colors all the same
I have the same question :/
Hey there, I followed all your instructions and for some reason the RGB strip and rgb for my bottom front fan are not in sync with the rest, any help?
I just wanna know how to control my cpu fan with the other fans cause it just stays green and it is an argb fan idk what im doing wrong
@6:21 where did you find that case plug in? did that come with the case? for some reason i don't see it.
i found it, but it was not labeled.
and i just realized that i need to leave these unplugged for the case to control the fans.
Are you able to daisy chain the power connectors for the the front case fans?
Yes. The case comes with a splitter that I used to plug all 3 (included) case fans into 1 of the fan controllers on my motherboard. The splitter I bought on Amazon I used for the 3 additional fans I purchased (again to 1 of the fan controllers on my motherboard). Hope this helps!
@@eyesonstuff8263 Very helpful. I have the same case but I couldn't find any fan splitters included in the box :(
@@dabs7448 Same. I just got this case and the 3 front fans are already daisy chained together to one connector on the mobo
Also I recommend the RGB-controller from the case instead of the mobo if you have asus motherboard. Their rgb software is a buggy clusterfuck mess sometimes it spikes up to 50% cpu usage.
how do you set up the rgb to the case? i followed this guide but my rgb isnt working, fans are though
@@KCswiish Did you connect the connectors like at 6:21?
@@frafra224 after connection that connection where do you connect the other end of the adapter? Thanks im new to this
I hate how Phanteks doesn't give you the option to have 6 fans pre installed with it's on custom wire harness...
WHERE TO INSTALL THE RGB CONTROLLER IF I WANNA USE THE CASE CONTROLL AND HOW MANNY FANS CAN THE CASE CONTROLLER USE?
I don't have a rear exhaust fan, but was debating on it. Do you think it's worth it?
yes 100%
You said that the 3 ways splitter came with the case (I didn't get one) or you bought it?
I have the same fans and holy shit they are loud.
i have a question. so if you buy this case and you also buy the other extra fans, will it say how to do this in the manuals of one of them or does it just leave you to figure it out on your own?
I believe u have to figure that out
