If I ever win the lottery I'm buying one since these cars are now selling for well over $100,000 now! I purchased a 1969 Dodge Charger in 1972 at age 17 and there was a 1969 Dodge Daytona on the lot that I wanted but my father wouldn't let me buy it since it cost more! I have kicked myself everyday for 42 years for not being able to buy the Daytona which is my ultimate dream car!
I knew a guy who had a Daytona that was the same color, when they came out in 69. He was so proud of it, I often wonder where the car is today. The ultimate muscle car.
now i remember how I became a MOPAR or no car guy....absolutely breathtaking. And I thought my AAR cuda that I have owned since 1973 was the world's best looking car...
it would be great to get everyone together that owns a superbird or daytona to a nascar raceway and get them to do a few laps not even fast just for the pure beauty of it
the DAYTONA with the E86 440-375 HORSE WAS UNDERRATED BY AT LEAST 15% this car would nail you in the seat, and leave you there clear to the top of second gear, and hit high and 150 we go,i grew up in a dealership that sold these in 1969 I got to test drive them after they went thru pre delivery inspection, gas was 15cents and 105-8 octane, this car loved it,this car is exciting to drive and you're never late
Years ago I saw a blue one with white on the back it was beautiful ;) (I'm not really a dodge fan or any muscle car fan but i like the dodge Daytona and dodge charger)
You lucky bastage! One of my favorite cars ever made, but I didn't know the Daytona's came with 440s. I thought they were all Hemis, and the super birds had the 440 option. Learn something new every day. No matter how much I love these cars, they were just bait for the Torino Talledgas, and the Cyclones.
bisquik3006 Those Talledegas and Cyclones definitely were awesome. Have you seen the Torino King Cobra, powered by a Boss 429? Weird looking thing, but still interesting.
Back in the day we had two new Daytonas in our town. I remember one was blue. I do not know what happened to either car. I think one had a 440 and the other had a Hemi. Our local dealer had to order them as sold orders, just to get them. Seems like they both sold at full retail. I figure an originial sells for a million now. Thanks for the great quality videos!
This car is THE quintessential muscle car! No other American produced machine was or is as sexy as it! Please fix/adjust the left rear window moulding. This is my dream machine.
In High School I had the 383 magnum 1970 Charger. in T-5 Copper with White vinyl top. Wished I still had it . Bucket List : Buy a resto-mod 1970 in same color at Jackson-Barret Auction house in Scottsdale.
I saw one of these rusting down at a garage or body shop in a neighboring county. It is such a shame to see one of these go to waste. A UPS driver friend of mine knows who owns the car and he will not sell it. At least the owner should get it out of the weather. I have also seen some '70 Trans Ams and Pontiac GTO Judges in another county rusting down in a guys front yard. Thanks for your posts.
The car you just seen is the culmination of the evolution of the Dodge charger. The objective of the wing and the installed nose cone was for aerodynamic purposes. Sole objective: to break 200 mph on the NASCAR racing circuit.
Your videos just seem to get better and better. This is arguably the best I've seen yet. An original Daytona? That car's worth its weight in gold...that's not a car, that's a retirement plan...lol...
Still the best car, best in 1969, best in 2018, i have a remake out of a regular 69 charger, so bacicly a daytona, it does 242, mind you it's a little turned up as well, and yes a track tested it, i baby it now
Richard Petty saw the Daytona, went to Plymouth and said, "Get me one of those." The suits at Plymouth said we don't have one... Petty said 'You guys either build me one or I'm going to Ford." And shazam .. the Superbird was born...
At some point in my natural life, I'm going to own one of these. I shall endeavor to be apart of every auction, challenge every bid, scavenge the internet for any ray of light, I shall drive towards the ultimate goal. A goal I will accomplish, to own a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona Hemi.
Hey i just want to ask something. Sorry for my ignorance but i am from Argentina and almost every car has manual transmission, and everyone here knows how to drive them. Does this charger have a manual transmission? Thanks
+Chris Lozano This car has the torqueflite automatic transmission. Many of the Daytona Chargers were built with four-speed manual transmissions though.
The engine made my heart stop from behind the damn computer speakers. If that's not a demonstration of raw, unadulterated power under that hood I don't know what is.
1/2 of a minute in there is a fade of a nascar that was supposed to be a Daytona but was actually a Plymouth super bird. but again I watched this video in mute so...
The top speed of a stock street Daytona like this is probably only in the 140 - 150 mph range, but that's because it's limited by gearing. The transmissions in these cars all had a 1.00 to 1 top gear and when you combine that with rear end ratios of 3.23 to 4.10, the engine will be gear limited and run out of RPM. The race cars could top 200 MPH, because they had 600+HP, taller tires, and they could rev a little over 7,000 RPM. The body on these cars is very aerodynamic though, so if you put a five or six speed manual in it and throw in a more aggressive camshaft, you could get some serious top speed out of one.

N2LADIES55 Welcome to 2020...they’re going for 2-300+k for the non-HEMI, and 900+k for the HEMI...brutal.
@@gavinhalm3016 u are talking about like 2000 dollars?
Thank you for this beautiful video. That car is probably turning more heads today than it did 47 years ago.
+Stephen Williams Glad you like it. Thanks for watching!
That Mopar sound is like music to my ears.
It really does sound great. Thanks for dropping by to check it out.
Couldn't agree more my friend! That one bad bitch.
I knew a guy who had a Daytona that was the same color, when they came out in 69. He was so proud of it, I often wonder where the car is today. The ultimate muscle car.
in a world where a man drives a daytona in a parking lot because he's to afraid to unleash the beast ...

Lmao 😂
It makes a grown man cry.
Not only grown man, I’m 20, and I’m crying 😢

the ultimate mopar driving machine. Thanks for putting mics near the exhaust. love that low rumble, and everything about that car!
it would be great to get everyone together that owns a superbird or daytona to a nascar raceway and get them to do a few laps not even fast just for the pure beauty of it
+kierankay100 they actually do that, along with owners of Talledega Torinos and Cyclone spoiler IIs
kierankay100. Ya that is a great idea i would love to see that
as one of few people who own a Superbird (I got it when I was 14 in 1996, for $5000), I love this video.
Wow, thanks, what a legend! Nascar all the way baby!

Mr. The King! From DINOCO! CARS! OMG! I found the car he's based on!
Robby van 't Veer Ikr it's an awesome car
actually this is a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, "The King" was based on a 1969 Plymouth Superbird. Similar cars though made by different manufacturers.
Lester Frothinger (know it all) but thank you even though they look exactly the same
They look way diffrent
They do have subtle differences though they're both technically Chrysler. Also the Superbird was a 1970
if i had 800,000 USD i would buy that in a heartbeat
me too)
Good to be back with u-tube after a year. Still trying to catch up on all your vids. Nothing sounds better than a 440 Magnum love that sound!!
Welcome back....thanks for dropping by.

Thank you for posting your excellent video of the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona! Love those Chrysler Wing Cars!
That was pretty sick Bud!! I don't think I've ever seen one that color!!☺
It is a little different color...it's T5 Copper. Definitely a pretty amazing car though. Thanks for checking it out.
yeah that interior is a lil whacky brown, but who cares? its a beast!

Yeah, it is a pretty bad ass car for sure. Out of the 503 Daytona's that they built, only 70 had the Hemi. Thanks for taking a look at it.
RamblinAround Thanks for the info. I was way off.
bisquik3006 Those Talledegas and Cyclones definitely were awesome. Have you seen the Torino King Cobra, powered by a Boss 429? Weird looking thing, but still interesting.
RamblinAround Yeah, they look like a damn Datsun. But, they sure as hell don't run like one.
A awezome car for sure. 200 mile an hour car wow in 1969. I would like to see a video clip of that race.
Yeah, they actually had to make a bunch of rule changes to take away their advantage. They held the Nascar speed record for over 13 years.
And held it for 13 years wow amazing.
Oh, I also had the matching copper interior but with a Torque flite automatic.
Its that thing, where you have a racecar, and just Idle it around never pushing the gas in parking lots...
15 anos e já apaixonado nesse clássico.
Cant stop listening to that car
Love it, but didn't they all have vinyl roofs to cover up the mess from changing the rear window?
Canam7 That was on the Plymouth Superbird only. The Daytona's didn't have vinyl roofs.
In spanish: la wea harcor
In english: a hot machine, i like it
I love that wing
MOPAR for life my favorite dodge charger Daytona
Back in the late '70's Hot Rod magazine did an article on one in Blue which i taped the photos to my front door. This 'cinnamon girl' is sweet, too.

The 440 4 bbl was the best engine for street use. The 6 pack and Hemis were a PIA to tune right.
what does pia mean?

That car is begging to be opened up, this was a tease! 😜
Honestly, Chrysler has been that company that has been exceeding peoples' expectation in each and everything they do!!
What a terrifying yet beautiful machine. Great video work as per usual too, that'll look good up on display. Cheers Jeff!

If I drove a car like this my confidence would raise a lot. Lol
It really is an impressive machine. You would have to get used to a lot of attention.
that thing is cool as shit. would've been cool as hell to see it on the highway but it is understandably a super rare car... thumbs up, cool vid.
Believe me, I sure wanted to get it out for a real test drive. It really is an awesome machine. Thanks for taking a look!

Nice Jeff...I was surprised to see the single 4 bbl , was expecting the 6 pack
I would expect that too, but none of the Daytona's were built with the 6 pack. Thanks for taking a look at it!
what a beauty
Did they have a Hemi package for the 1969 Daytona?
I don't understand why they called the daytona ugly to me it's not ugly its cool with lots of style
WOW!! My favorite muscle car you are so lucky!!!!!!!
It really is an amazing machine. Thanks for taking a look!
that looks like David Spade's
I'll have two when I' get richer
Not a big fan of that nose extension, but the rest of the car is making me a little warm in the pants area.
Thanks for dropping by Andy. Hope you're doing well.

what you have there is a street legal race car

That the one that sat for years in a field in Nova Scotia?
Btw the blue "daytona" in the back wasnt a daytona it was a plemmith
it's too bad it's not a stickshift
Ah damn, that was a great video but I was hoping for a good couple revs just once. Some cars become worth too much haha

Yes, they are perfectly legal street cars.
