The nature videos weren’t doing it for me but this is just a whole new level, it’s not just a balance between his old asmr and new videos but it feels like an entirely new concept that is both entertaining and relaxing, I love this
Thanks for trying it! And I don't know about "next level", but it's definitely new territory for me. Just glad it worked out & some folks get as much enjoyment out of it as I did making it.
The fact that this man has been “in my life” since I was 12. In my homestate of Pennsylvania as well. Now 25 still frequently listening to these amazing unique videos is still such a joy. Especially when he shows the nature of our homestate. Pennsylvania is amazing and so bountiful of nature.
Camping tip: pitch your tent on top of a tarp that is a bit smaller than the size of your tent. Makes a HUGE difference in keeping out moisture and cold and is MUCH more comfortable.
Hey Paul, thank you for sharing your life with us in this unique journal art form. Thank you for being so calming and relaxing. I suffer from fear of people and being highly sensitive, and this means so much to me. I hope that you don't experience loneliness and fear like I do, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Fun fact: You get used to the birds if you live in Northern Norway, even when sleeping in a house, because you'll have your window open and the birds will start at 1AM. They have a little snooze around midnight even though it doesn't get dark in the summer. (And I really mean this. It doesn't even get to twilight. I've had the morning sun shining through my blackout curtains at 1AM while the birds are chirping happily. You learn to deal with it and sleep anyways.) All this to say, *I love these camping videos!!!*
37:05 I really appreciate that you go back and teach us the proper terms for these things I'd probably never had otherwise heard the meaning of! Lovin your videos, though I'm a new sub, going through your comments has been such a delight and makes me wish that I had found your channel much sooner! Much love from Texas ❤
Im from New Jersey and spent my summers as a boy camping in southeastern Pennsylvania. These solo camping videos remind me of being a Boy Scout and how peaceful those late June early July nights are here in the Tri State. Been watching you for 10 years now and your videos still provide that much needed serenity at the end of the day. You’re the best
I had to say, you look fit and healthy. I think this amount outdoors is a real secret to becoming fresh again I really starting to love these outdoor videos. Suddenly my mind says: I want E, testing different camp sites and leave his thoughts on them👍
I do plan on trying different sites whether at the same forest or elsewhere Would like to travel and tent camp somewhere else in the states too but baby steps! ;)
Aw this is fabulous! I must admit the last time I went camping I said “never again” but I do like the idea of just going off on my own to somewhere really remote. Thank you, you never fail to surprise and delight!
I don't want to assume anything but honestly I'm all for artists and creators having full control on the direction of their work, And you seem so much happier and relaxed in your new videos where you are exploring the outdoors and beach sidewalks and such. Yes the nature is peaceful but knowing you're even a little relaxed is great and I hope u enjoy creating content for years to come ❤
I discovered the rift back in 2015. Watching the beer/fallout 3 review. I didn't even know what asmr was back then. He deserves wayyyyy more than 1mill subs. That's still a lot but he never runs out of ideas and so consistent. Another excellent video BTW 😊
The last time we camped, there was a thunderstorm with winds that were bad enough to bend the tents so that they were flat against our faces the next morning. We chucked the tents away and went home😅 but my parents love camping
Hey there Mr rift my mother has passed away yesterday morning, all I ask is if I could see my good friend Mr Dave too cheer me up, thank you for always making amazing ASMR videos ❤️
Hey man thank you for creating these videos for us but also for yourself and doing what you love. I find content is so much richer when creators really do what they love.
Love to see you camping, It’s a passion of mine as well, speaking from experience a sleeping pad and pillow go a long way in keeping you comfortable and safe from weather, rain, I’ve been using a Moxils sleeping pad and Trekcology pillow and they are lifesavers. Keep up the camping!!!
This is actually really great for ASMR. I was expecting many disturbing elements but this is surprisingly good. Thank you Uncle ER for great ASMR video. Greetings from Czech republic.
Optional tip from this King's Scout - poles first, then pegs. That way you can reposition or adjust your tent before securing it. This is useful especially in rainy conditions because you need to make sure the tent isn't stressed oddly by the poles fighting the pegs.
Of course here in England, or anywhere quite windy, it might be required to do some pegs first if it's gusting, but larger and more expensive tents can have upwards of 10 pegs :) at that point you also need to make sure the hooks of the pegs are sealed to the ground
Somehow I can easily see an ER version of Camping With Steve. Popping up a tent in questionable spots (roundabouts, parking garages, fast food drive-thrus) and seeing how long you can go without being discovered. By their very nature they have to be ASMR levels of quiet.
This is the craziest timing. I’ve been watching your channel for the past few years and love it, and I’m actually hiking the entirety of the Appalachian Trail right now, so seeing you camping outside is so cool. Not only that, but I’m in northern PA right now, and was somewhere in the middle of PA when you recorded this!
Hey, wanted to give a little tip, usually at the top of these kinds of tents, there are small string that you could tie to poles together to ensure that the rainfly doesnt, well fly around. But if there isnt, then its fine.
Hey ER, have you ever experienced notable hearing loss throughout your time? Im 25, and just today experienced some loss in one ear for the first time in my life. And for some reason i immediately wondered, if someone like you; with the peacefulness of the dalai lama, has ever experienced such a thing? Thanks man. Gonna put some earplugs in, and listen to this whilst i wash my car.
Matter of fact, ive actually just searched up, after posting this 'ephemeral rift, hearing loss' lol, and you have a whole video on it. This is perfect, and sorry for your loss (or reminding you of it😢), this might help console me. You the best.
Interestingly enough, I've been stocking up on some (premium) camping supplies the last few months. I'm hoping to go sometime in the next month or two here in Tennessee or northern Alabama. This really gets me wanting to go even more just to relax in nature 🏕 I haven't been since I was a teenager (I'm 32 now).
I spent years in the infantry and seen my fair share of people pooping outside. Never did anyone suggested wrapping a turd in plastic wrap and tucking it away.
i wanna camp with my girlfriend when we have time. I love nature, the sounds are calm, i always loved being into the woods. My gf is a city person but a day off can't hurt anyone!
The last time I went camping was in the early 90s with my family, somewhere in the California mountains (I can't remember where exactly), and I kept expecting a bear to show up. Didn't happen, though. Still, it was nice to awaken to birdsong.
About the light: it depends on what you're sleeping in. If I sleep in a hammock that's open, the light will wake me up. If I sleep in a dark tent made out of thick material, it's not a problem. It's a good idea to have something that covers your eyes, like a sleeping mask.
The nature videos weren’t doing it for me but this is just a whole new level, it’s not just a balance between his old asmr and new videos but it feels like an entirely new concept that is both entertaining and relaxing, I love this

@@EphemeralRiftAre you on the run strange question
@@EphemeralRiftwhat camera are you using in this video?

To me there is nothing better than backpacking to a remote destination setting up a tent and sleeping in the woods

he should really do indoor asmr like he used tp
Only problem with that plan is when there's no public land to camp on. Campgrounds have rules, and there's no such thing as public land in Texas

I love when ER circles around and returns to his, quite literal as well as figurative, roots. :)
A video of just feeling the tent material and the zip would be heaven.
Those rain fly sounds were out of this world

I could elaborate here on the entire "loneliness" thing, but I'll save it for a video I plan to do on the subject.
It impresses me how after all these years ER manage to still inovate and find new very cool concept ^^
I love him !!
Heheh it’s not that I’m *trying* or thinking to “innovate” I just get inspired to do something I personally haven’t done before ;)
Oh yeah! The great outdoors!
I like this version of video a lot, it’s like a asmr vlog adventure all in one.
