Why don't movies like these become famous? I've watched this movie twice in the span of 24 hours and it managed to move me both times. It's so beautiful.
Saw a trailer for it, over the shoulder of a friend, and that's how I learned of it. I'm a history nerd and yet I heard about this because a friend who loves trashy romance novels/sweeping romantic drama films, told me I needed to see this trailer. I was expecting some GONE WITH THE WIND rip-off or maybe a wanna-be FAR FROM THE MADDENING CROWD and instead, found this gem. No one had copies and the theatrical release was long past. Finally, I found a copy at the local university's library (I jokingly call them my Blockbuster, cause I borrow as many movies/TV shows as I do books). Beautiful movie. Shame it didn't get more attention and isn't more widely known. Granted, I've a long list of movies I could say the same about (many of them historical fiction, biographical dramas, or little known SciFi flicks).
John Daviniere was 7 years younger than Dido. In the film, Dido married Davinier when she was 18, therefore John would have been only 11 years old at the time. lmaooo

So much emotion in this scene alone. This movie is sorely underrated. I have seen it several times since I watched it in my local theatre and have loved it more and more each and every time. The storyline, the acting, the MESSAGE. maybe because this movie was really fake and degrade all the historical people depicted, irl Dido was broke, Elizabeth the heiress, Mansfield made the decision on his own
@Satu-zs7gm Maybe, but that's what a "movie" is, a fake story that tries to entertain an audience. Most times, the truth isn't fully known or worth telling the story exactly as it happened. For example, if they were to make a movie about your comment here... there's nothing entertaining about a bitter little person who seeks to steal the joy of someone praising the life's work of an actor who passes away? 😒
@@PL2550Dolphins that's one of the dumbest thing i have heard... so make Harriet Tubman into Queen of France 💀 it's entertaining right instead of showing her real story?
@Satu-zs7gm If what I wrote was the dumbest thing you ever "heard" then you are wasting your talents fixated on my comments. Nevertheless, I'll refer you back to the last sentence of my previous comment (for you to listen to 😐) because I'm not here to deal with miserable people who troll for arguments. I'm here to express a tribute to an actor whose performances moved me emotionally. You are now blocked 🚫.
@@PL2550Dolphinsyou are slow, i doubt he want "your tribute" you are troll that had no respect for real historical figure, why do you care about real figure behind the actors 💀
This scene is great, but the one that sends me is when they meet in the shadows during the fireworks. How he just grabs her, embraces her and they stare at each other, breathing in synch. Yikes…♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
You could feel the man and the sincerity coming out of Mr. Davinier when he said that. It would be like oh shit, game over buddy, you aren't gonna be with any other woman besides me! Enough said.
This movie should have been longer. Nonetheless I still adore it, dalogue an all, but I feel like they could have captured more romantic scenes with John for a better build up. It's sad that her uncle tried to instill that false notion that no man will ever find her suitable as a wife. When obviously the man was standing right in front of them but he's so blinded by societal classicism, he'd rather her marry into a family that will most like mistreat her. I thought the whole point of this was for him to protect her. Good thing Dido was her own woman. John was obviously the better man.
I know I know!! all of us love Mr. Darcy and his confession to Elizabeth, but oh this confession of John to Belle! The way said it out loud "I LOVE HER WITH EVERY BREATH I BREATH" made me feels a lot of things and I still think about this scene and crying.
"I LOVE HER! I LOVE HER WITH EVERY BREATH I BREATHE" I don't even think I can describe how beautiful this moment is.

It is sad that we really don't appreciate most actors until they've passed. I loved Tom Wilkinson in this movie and Batman Begins.
maybe because this movie was really fake and degrade all the historical people depicted, irl Dido was broke, Elizabeth the heiress, Mansfield made the decision on his own
@Satu-zs7gm Maybe, but that's what a "movie" is, a fake story that tries to entertain an audience.
The day I hear a man tell me he loves me that way I know he was sent by God himself ❤️🥰🥰🥺🙏🏽🙌🏽
Love this scene. So romantic; and he is gorgeous 😍
If I’ve done anything right in life then I pray that God would give me a man like John.
Is that the actor that plays Lestat in Interview with a Vampire?
Yes, He is
This scene always takes my breath away
MY GOD I CANT STOP CRYING 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
The Way he shouts I love her 😍😍it just melts my heart every damn time
Oh my god 😍 It was him all this time , My beautiful Sam Reid, My beloved Lestat ❤❤❤
This scene is great, but the one that sends me is when they meet in the shadows during the fireworks. How he just grabs her, embraces her and they stare at each other, breathing in synch.
Yikes…♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
“I love her!!!” Tears sprang into my eyes. Wasn’t expecting that. ❤💔
irl he remarried shortly after Dido died to a young maid lol
Lestat De Lioncourt 🧛♂️
The feels..too much!😭
Omg that’s the vampire Lestat
You could feel the man and the sincerity coming out of Mr. Davinier when he said that. It would be like oh shit, game over buddy, you aren't gonna be with any other woman besides me! Enough said.
The way he screamed I LOVE HER!🤦🏾♀️
This movie should have been longer.
She was by far the most beautiful woman in their world at the time and Gugu is one of the most beautiful women alive today
I love the " Oh shit " look John gives the whole carriage when he enters....
Did I look up this scene on a random Thursday? Well yes. Yes I did.
did john daviniere remarried after Dido? yes he did
I know I know!! all of us love Mr. Darcy and his confession to Elizabeth, but oh this confession of John to Belle! The way said it out loud "I LOVE HER WITH EVERY BREATH I BREATH" made me feels a lot of things and I still think about this scene and crying.
Can a intelligent man say that about me, and yell it out loud to anyone’s face who thinks otherwise?
when you are worth half Dido maybe
Why do I always stop breathing in this scene? 😂
1:26 just knocked the air from my lungs. like.....woah #____#
