I was born in San Diego and grew up in the east county of San Diego (El Cajon, Lakeside, Santee, etc.). My parents once lived in the Regency Apts. on Mollison many years ago. Where Wendy's now stands on Broadway, there used to be a house. It was torn down in the 1960's to make way for progress. Broadway used to be tree-lined...mostly pepper trees. I can't believe how much it has changed. On that same corner of Broadway and Mollison, in 1961 or 62, a horrible accident happened. We were living in the house where Wendy's now stands. I will never forget the sound I heard that night. A car with teenagers in it was speeding down Broadway and slammed into a car with a family who was visiting family for Christmas. That whole family, sadly, was killed on that corner. It's something that has stayed with me after all these many years. I graduated from Granite Hills HS. I now live in Idaho (since 1991). There are times I truly miss my once small town of El Cajon...when it had once been more of a horse town. Thanks for sharing.
