This is definitely one of my favorite hotlines. The rider is very reasonable. Uses bike lanes when possible, times it to catch mostly greens, cautiously proceed through reds, knows when to not push it too far. Very skilled riding!

Well, what you're waiting for? Go, there's specific chain lube for that anyways, also it would strange if bikes weren't made withstand rainy days, otherwise the brits wouldn't even go out with their bikes.

Yes you can drive, but its not such a pleasure as it on a sunny warm day.
Get a second bike which is "bad-weather ready". It's fun to ride when it's muddy and wet.

Tbf it's Grand Street he was on, which is basically a death lane. There's nothing that would ever make me take that damn lane. Besides the constant deliveries being made, the hand trucks and the e-bikers, there's just a general sense of not paying any attention and not giving a fuck by every civilian over there. Even more than normal. It's about as bad as taking the Brooklyn bridge in the summertime. The majority of the east side is a death trap anyway.

What are the chances of becoming unclipped when skidding/stopping?
depends on your system and settings. I ride time atac mtb with time atac cleats. Strongest settings in the pedals. I never unclipped within 1,5 years riding the same cleats and pedals. You have to make sure, you clip in correctly. For unclipping you also have to angle your foot (how much depends on the cleats you're using). Hope that helps
