- Join me, The Key Largo Dude, for a beautiful day of snorkeling at the amazing Molasses Reef in Key Largo, Florida. Molasses Reef is the third largest barrier reef in the planet.
Amazing waters, full of sharks, turtles, and tropical fish! I also found a mermaid!
➡️ Molasses Reef in Key Largo is located on the southern side of the John Pennekamp State Park and is likely the most popular diving and snorkeling spot in the keys.
This an SPA (special protected area) within John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.
With depths ranging from ten to fifty feet, there are over thirty mooring buoys marking the area that display the depth at each location.
➡️ With the variations in depth and range of reefs, wildlife, and caves, this spot is perfect for everyone from novice snorkelers and divers to those with the most experience.

Thanks David, this is one of the largest and most popular reefs in the Keys, and it's close to my house on the boat. It's a little deep for novice snorkelers but worth the visit.

Hi! Thanks for watching and your comment! So the Reef bleached a bit years ago, it's recovered and there is active coral planting and restoration on the SPAs It's better than years ago, but not like it used to be when I started diving in the 90s.
Fantastic...brings back the memories from many many Moons ago when I lived in Boca area and made a scuba diving trip with my friends to the Keys...Thanks.

In the summer is usually calm, most of the time, storms might pop up in the afternoon sometimes. But the best marine weather is the summer!
