A lot of people seem to prefer the Diane years, but shoot me, but I prefer the Rebecca years. I was born in 1981 so I only remember Cheers in its final seasons. I was never introduced to the Diane character until I started watching the show in re-runs later on.
+GBoi1 I Like both for different reasons. As the show went on, the characters were flanderized (became exaggerated versions of what they were.) HOWEVER, I did not care for Diane, and prefer Rebecca, who was more quirky and fun, compared to Diane who was a busy body and snob. And I didn't care for her relationship with Sam either.
You had to see the relationship Sam and Diane unfold, especially in real time, to appreciate what it meant for *Cheers*. For all their ups and downs, S and D was a magical pairing. I recall how the country eagerly waited to see their relationship unfold. Each installment never failed to please. Rebecca settling in the Cheers scene would eventually expose how much the series lost its original bearings. I would even say that *Cheers* became a different show altogether, more sophomoric and less interesting. That the rest of the characters were getting a bit too sclerotic for my taste didn't help.
Lay off Kirstie, she was a perfect contrast to Diane, basically she was sam malone in a skirt which made the Rebecca/sam relationship a more ballsy, wisecracking affair.
I like Rebecca better, she represents an independent woman, Sam thinks her life revolves around him and that he is so irresistible, but she couldn't give a crap less. Good way to burst his bubble.
@jksonny no but is was in the first two seasons. Sam told Diane he was going to a cultural event to prove a point but came back to the bar with the date and admitted going to Star Wars... Diane asked a question relating to his ex-wife and Carla says something like "that was his ex-wife.":)
These episodes were funny when they were trying to have a baby but nothing became of their relationship other than them being friends, some things weren't meant to be I guess
No matter who they got to replace Long though, the replacement was never going to be anywhere near as good. The show was sam/diane and both were excellent in the roles.Once Shelley Long quit, the show lost its magic.
Lol at Sam wanting to put "F" on the calendar.
Sweetheart I know the lights are usually out but I do take them off. Lol best line ever
Best comedy ever, i doubt it will ever be surpassed
Agreed.
"Sweetheart, I know the light's usually out but I do take 'em off."Fucking hilarious....

I much prefer the later Cheers. Way funnier show and those episodes have aged well.
Diane was great, but Rebecca...Hubba Hubba!
Dianne was actually attractive

I love Rebecca.
"I don't know......I'm pretty coordinated."
I loved Rebecca. Diane was good but she fell for Sam too easily and I like that Rebecca wasn't that way.
Sam: I'll freeze my...
Rebecca: Eggs...actly
Ha!
Radley Atticus ikr - LOL
Radley Atticus
Lol! Lol!ROTFLMBO!!
Having a baby between them would brighten things up

Storm Hawk I agree, thanks
I loved Rebecca
That was the best 2:35 minutes in 80's sitcom television
I like Rebecca better, she represents an independent woman, Sam thinks her life revolves around him and that he is so irresistible, but she couldn't give a crap less. Good way to burst his bubble.
Haha, I wish these two had ended up together.
lightsallfading so do i
Me too.

Kirstie had a magnificent head of hair
Rebecca is currently in the Celebrity Big Brother house lol
That rich guy she had a crush on was the most gay looking snob I had ever seen on television.
Jonvolca Man which one? There was 2.
Are you referring to Robin Colcord?
Perrrrfect...awesome episode✌️💋👯👯👯👯👩💻👩💻👩🎓👩💻👯💓✌️✌️✌️
Boxers, Sam - boxers - LOL.
1:02 lol im dead.
If Kirstie wanted it, I'd give it to her.
What season and episode is this ?
Rebecca era was better imo
@jksonny the ex-wife of Sam was in one show in the Shelly Long years...
What episode and series is this
i like you KIRSTIE ALLEY
Ted Lasso brought me here.
Rebecca all the way
Yep. Season One's, "Sam's Women."
These episodes were funny when they were trying to have a baby but nothing became of their relationship other than them being friends, some things weren't meant to be I guess
This is juste before she went beluga
This couple had zero sexual chemistry. Sam and Diane actually seemed in love.
True
Rebecca saw that as well, but Sam ran through all the red lights.
Rebecca & Sam so much better than Sam & Diane

The frequent sexual references on this show, which increased over time, irritated the h*ll out of me...
@mtreber
I think that is a stupid couple. Better as friends
