- Should you post the same video on all platforms? If so, what are the proper sizes and dimensions for the various platforms. I talk about InstagramTV, Instagram Feed, Facebook, LinkedIN, and UA-cam. Here's how I do it.

First Time Here?
Thanks for being here. I know your time is valuable, so I'll keep it short. I own a company called 4LC Studios. I do video production (weddings, commercial, and anything else that grabs our attention). This youtube channel and everything I post is about the journey. I love sharing what I'm learning, how I'm growing, and how I'm failing. I hope you'll follow my journey and be a part of the conversation.
Another awesome video Scott! I’m seeing the value of shooting 4K even more now when you mention scaling and cropping to fit these dimensions! Thank you for consistently helping the community across all platforms!
Thank you so much! This is exactly the information I needed. I especially appreciated how clearly, simply, and professionally you presented it. Very high quality!
Dude with your opening. I'm already subbed.
Excellent Video! Sometimes it's not all about the bells and whistles, but well thought out information in a conversational tone. You nailed it!
Thanks
Really useful and stretching my thinking. Thanks man
Thanks for the vid Scott! I'll keep the IGTV dimensions in mind. Also, try giving 4:5 a shot on Instagram regular posts. It takes up more of the screen and grabs more attention.
Yes, 4:5 works as well, especially if you're not doing any top and bottom bars.
Your hard work will bring great results and big audience. Keep on it.
Hello Can I ask you one question Why my video so blur too much while i produced it in after effect for size for facebook cover page is 820 x 312 pixel .
Could you help me to make it clear ? I have not idea how to fix it
Thanks Scott - as always another very informative session, keep it up!
Glad to help. Thanks for the kind words
Hi Scott, what dimensions do you recommend for Facebook mobile videos not facebook desktop?
HOW DO YOU UPLOAD VERTICAL VIDEO IN HD?? I've uploaded in 1080 by 1920 and it always tops out at 480p. Driving me insane.
Thanks Scott great video👍🏾
Hi Scott, How do you do the template- hate your job? What app is that? I tried to find but couldnt find it
Thanks man, good video. What are your thoughts, or commenters thoughts, on regular instagram 1080x1350 for video? Also, is there a consensus on a bitrate for LinkedIn? I’ve been trying to find some info. I’ve tried target 12 and max 20, that seems to look pretty good.
very helpfull material thanks, I'm subscribing
Just an update about Instagram's aspect ratio - 4:5 for Instagram feed, and 9:16 for IGTV (both vertical). When you preview IGTV on Instagram's feed it crops the top and bottom to be 4x5 but reveals the whole video when you click to watch on IGTV.
is it still 1920x1080 for fb today?
And Linkeind video dimensions? I have a a problem with my video 1400x1400 for Linkeidn is showing a black frame in the sides and I have seen other videos on LinkeIn that are 720x720 so I don't know what am I doing wrong :( , please help!
Thank you so much buddy. You solved my big big big problem.
GREAT video! Thank you!
Excellent video Scottie! Which camera do you use buddy ?
This really helped thank you 😊🙏🏻
Thanks for the info Scott, very helpful info indeed.
So glad it was helpful.
Thank you!!.. I've been learning all of this the hard way, I should've watched your video from the start!
We are all learning.
This will help you out with your phone because you have to make sure your phone is available to you and she doesn't want you to get her off the phone or to get the same password as soon as you have the option to delete the same thing as you have been using
am realy thankfull for ur video and hardwork but could u plz give me an advice ? i have facebook channel i stream games on it and also i edit Gaming content and then post it the thing is when i post my videos with 1080p its only available in 720p to watch on desktops but on smartphones its only available in 480p !! i use adobe premier pro
What software are you using for editing ?
Useful info, Scott! Thank you! :)
This videos clear brother
Which software did you used
1920 * 1080 VERTICAL FOR FB BUT WHAT AABOUT PORTARAIT VIDEO DIMESION FOR FB ? PLZ HELP.
1842x2308, would this also work for Instagram live?
That was very helpful thanks again Scott
Glad to hear
Are you actually going to give the sizes the platform want as all i see is the size you export as which is NOT the same
Damn dude great stuff! This is exactly what I’m working on for my channel
Awesome. Glad you liked it.
Bro i am not able to promote my igtv video.. Even promote button cannot be clicked. Stories also not possible.. But my blogs (photos)can be promoted. What is the problem
amazing thank you bro!
Straight to the point
Hi Scott, how did you embed your phone with a frame into your video like you did at 3:53 ? I can only find software for the screen but not the phone frame too. Thanks!
Adobe Premier
But how ? Where do you can age it?
Hey Scott! One question, which settings do you use to export videos for Instagram? In order for them to look good. I noticed that when I upload a video to Instagram it seams that Instagram lowers the quality of the resolution. Thank you very much, love your work!
Instagram compresses video. I just export full quality though.
well done - useful and to the point!
Glad to help any way I can. Keep killing it on your channel.
Scott, what about LinkedIn?
Very Helpful Bro
Can you size all you instagram in just 1080x1080 or do you really need the two different sizes for TV and general post? Also since I am not sure I have the video software that is capable of resizing would it just be better to shoot in vertical? It's not really appealing to me, but maybe that because I have an old brain.
It’s never the same thing, that’s the key. Every edit I make is unique in it’s own way. Not just dimensions.
Hi Scott, so I need help with wedding video posting... FB = you suggest 1920 x 1080 is good. I know for IG it should be square so I will try the 1080 x 1080. What's a good size for IGTV? I want the video horizontal, so is 1842 x 2304 better than 1080 x 1920?
1080x1920 for IG TV And stories. I upload full 4K for Facebook.
Thank you.
hey mate, I just created a video in 1080 x 1350 dimensions , I was super happy with it, then uploaded it to IGTV and it partially cropped some of the top off. Very frustrating! What dimensions would you recommend for IGTV if I want the whole thing to be incorporated and seen. It's a graphic design, very much like a digital poster.
Yes same. I tried everything.
@@estla.7e51 I just uploaded it as a feed post in the end.
Hi Scott, whats the bitrate for instagram videos ?
I just upload it full quality like I would for youtube. Seems to work fine.
Thanks
Please what video Editor do you Use thank you
Final Cut Pro X
What program do you use for editing?
FCPX
Good work Scott! Do you switched to FCPX? No more Pr?
I haven't used Premiere in a long time.
yes brother this clear
What size you should suggest if you want to advertise mainly on FB and IG newsfeed?
1080x1080
Scott McKenna and for automatic placements?
nice video my friend...like it
Hi Scott, thanks for the awesome video! You mentioned that you use 1920x1080 for Facebook. I find that that works well for desktop Facebook, however, mobile Facebook would be more optimised in a portrait layout rather than landscape right? If so, what dimensions do you recommend for Facebook mobile videos? Thanks in advance, cheers!
Pros and cons of both. I now use 4K for Facebook.
Hi S H, I still can't figure out what dimensions i can use for Facebook mobile videos?
so what software do you use to edit your video size?
Final Cut X is what we use.
@@scottmckenna thank you
Scott, you should consider raising your screen and improving your posture while editing. :D
Didn't work well for me. Go for 1080x1920p.
You're doing too much talking what doesn't make sense is why Instagram you can post and adjust the size but if you using igtv it doesn't allow you to adjust the size
Shout out Crispy TV from Philippines
🥰
Thanks for posting this video.
Can you confirm the pixel dimensions for a Facebook 4:5 video? Their website states the width can't exceed 1280, which implies a height of 1600. I have videos for a client that I need to rebuild and want to confirm the actual pixel dimensions. One will be a square Instagram video, so I will build and render that at 1080x1080.
i need that information too :(
@@isayas23 for 4:5 use 1080 X 1350
it was 4 minutes before you got to the point we were watching for.
haha right! talking too much before pointing out the real topic :D
Yes, this plague is becoming very common among youtubers.
your dimensions cut off the edges
dont give shit about changing,,, u r giving great content
Please check your burned captions before exporting lol.
Sorry Scott, based off of the thumbnail you're clearly too poor to own and iPhone X, so I'm not sure I'm willing to take advice from you 😋 jk honestly this video makes a lot of sense. I personally don't want (or see a need) to go outside of UA-cam cuz this is where it's at. 2 billion active users per month, this is where the people go for video content. HOWEVER, if you can build a video presence on one of the other platforms, you'll be considered a unique creator and DEFINITELY stand out. For example: Jesse Driftwood
Haha. I didn’t want to knotch my head.
Tom Ryan😂🤣🤣🤣
I wanted to like the video and then I was that it had 699 likes sooo I’m not gonna ruin the number
I didn't get anything from your video.
I didn’t get much from your comment either.
IGTV - 1842 x 2304
Hey Scott, cool video as always... but I just wanted to point out that Facebook has been supporting 4K native videos since last year 😊
Check out my page if you want for a couple of tests
True. I guess I was thinking more of the fact that when I post my wedding videos or commercial work on there, it's not always delivered 4K any way so I don't post it in 4K. If it was a vlog, then yes you're right, I could use 4K. Thanks for chiming in.
Oh yes, absolutely! I'm totally with you on this 😊
The IGTV dimensions start at 7:20in the vid, for those who just need the skinny.
Dude you are killing your channel for not getting to the point of why we are here
You can always fast forward.
