  • Very interesting to play about with the Honda E's HDMI port, of course you can also plug games consoles etc into it, perhaps we should try that....hmmm...maybe in another video!

    Hi Ian we must live fairly near each other I'm in Hardwicke near Gloucester. Umm you know what I am seriously thinking of cancelling my order for an id3, which on the surface may seem mad except after 14 months of real road time I have friends still getting lots of problems with the software which seems to be a major issue on that car which is now putting me off. So I'm going to have a chat with my Local Honda dealer which I'm not sure where that is yet and I may cancel the id3 which is not going to be ready til April so they won't even be building mine yet.
    Thx 4 your channel it's excellent maybe if I get one I could come on a couple of your visit every Honda Dealer challenge.

    Seriously considered a Honda e when little was known about them. If it had been 150 miles range and split fold rear seat I'd have got one no question. Still think its a cool car though. Oh and when did the cigarette lighter become the 12v? Must be getting old.

    If you are using your phone for the data, why not just use HDMI out cable on your phone? It works a treat, the sound from the HDMI is really good.

    • @IanSampsonRLO

      Couple of reasons:
      1. It can be removed from the car and plugged into a Hotel TV / B&B etc (which can then connect to their wifi - i.e. its adaptable as a stand alone device with its own wifi receiver
      2. It can be plugged into the car and ANY mobile (not just with a iphone connection) and tether to it to allow a connection. Meaning my phone doesnt have to be left in the car if a passenger is left in there watching something.
      But there would be no harm in also getting a iphone specific connector!

    Those screens look a bit small for watching video comfortably. :) The 3 pin socket is a nice addition though even if it steals precious range.

    Hi Ian,
    Interesting.
    I can imagine the Roku inter-connectivity facility being useful if you were stuck in a supermarket car park or waiting for a vehicle rescue service, or similar situation.
    However, travelling 50,000 miles should reveal much more interesting uses (?).

    • @IanSampsonRLO
      @IanSampsonRLO  3 роки тому

      Yeah interested to see what develops. Was thinking of a small PC / Mac Mini plugged in, and then us the screen. But of course then you need to have a keyboard and mouse to edit with....and ultimately the screen will be too small for that use. But there will be other things!

    I see you use an iPhone user so I'm not sure how it would work, but I would use a Google Chromecast instead of a Roku as the new one not only has a remote but also it would allow you to download Netflix content to your phone's app on your home's WiFi then stream it from your phone to the Chromecast without consuming your phone's data. Just a tip/idea! :)

    • @IanSampsonRLO
      @IanSampsonRLO  3 роки тому

      David, yeah I look at that but was concerned if it would have limited compatibility with an apple OS. My first port of call was the Apple TV, but that requires the use of the 3 pin 240v plug, and it was a bit too bulky. With the Roku its a stand alone unit (for example - this might be needed if it is ME that goes off when someone is in the car....and of course my phone would go with me, killing the network - mind you if this was MY usage case I would have to subscribe to the Honda wifi point data subscription).

    • @IanSampsonRLO
      @IanSampsonRLO  3 роки тому +1

      Only if you want to use the same phone. The roku is a stand alone device that doesn’t need to be cast to, so all the services such as apple tv+ are native, it just needs an internet connection - which can be from the cars hotspot, or anyones mobile device (meaning I can go off with someone sat in the car and take my phone..but they still have access to all the apps)

  • @ceasarsalad119
