2020 Yeti SB165 Review | First Ride First Impressions

- Last year I demo'd Yeti's SB150 and can still remember how fun and confident that bike made me feel. A couple of months back I demo'd the SB140 and found to be super fun and poppy! But not as confidence-inspiring on the steeps and chunk. And now after riding the SB165, I feel like if the SB150 and the SB140 had a kid... the SB165 would be it! Fast, planted, playful and makes you feel like you can take on the world!

Thanks to Havoc Bike Co. for lending me the bike to review 🤙🏼 HavocBikeCo.com
First time I've seen this video and I have to be honest.....I really liked it. Brothers review is simple and honest. I greatly appreciate the simplicity.
Well done.
Brian Darnell Thanks man! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
I just bought myself a T2 like this !!
And guess what it started to snow just the lm day after....
So right now is in my garage and I’m looking at it every morning and night just waiting for the Spring to come back
I tried to SB 150 which I really love it and I bought the 165 because of my size wheels preference ... and agressiv Geo !!
CG That’s gotta be torture LOL! Congratulations man! 🤙🏼
there it is! been waiting for this day! amazing review man! 🤟
Thanks man! Sick bike.
Great riding skills ! And a beast of a bike !
David Toro 🤘 Thanks man. Dream bike for sure
I live in Oregon, I have the Sb165 right and it definitely feels like too much bike for the flow trails we have out here. I feeling like the SB 140 would’ve been been the way to go, so now I’m thinking about trading it in. In an ideal world, I would have both of these bikes.
Diego Castro Aviles Had a chance to demo Sb150, Sb165 and sb140 and I would go with the SB140 myself.
I live in Oregon also and thinking sb140 is the way to go for Post Canyon , Sandy Ridge etc.
Your videos are getting better and better.... Nice work here.
Thanks Tony! I appreciate that.
Great review, thanks for sharing 👍. BTW, getting my SB165 custom build in a week, I can't wait.
Stoked for you man! You’re gonna love it 🤘
This is the only time I can recall Milton riding a coil. I guess you liked air better than coil.
That is correct 😄
@@MILTONATOR maybe one day you can do a video on your thoughts on coil. I just put one on and I think I will never go back to air shock. It would make a great video.
Cool review. I love that feel of coil shock. 🤙🏼
SaulRideEnduroMTB Thanks!
I love that cassette. Sweet vid man!
Thanks man. Yea, that whole AXS setup is really cool. Pricey but cool
Oh man that thing is sick and so quiet. Great video!
Thanks 👍
dream bike right there, sweet video man I am just dreaming
Benson Hilgemann definitely a dream bike! Thanks man
I’m thinking this might be one of top contenders for your next bike. I need to demo one myself!
MTB FlowRider You are not wrong! 🤞🏼
Great vid bro!
MTB Lifestyle Thanks man!
Lol we live in VA with 100 percent flat ground mostly until I go up into the hills I am 14 and about to get that bike cause I need something to handle what I do I will prob go with the T3 with carbon wheels
Jesuslover SICK 🤘🏼 T3 with carbon wheels.
Check out the Norco optic 2020. Less travel and slack geometry with a good climb position. I think you’ll like it because it’s perfect for single track and doesn’t feel sketch on the downhill because the slack head tube and can climb
Miller Reid Not to mention the aesthetics. Norco makes some sexy bikes. Gonna keep an eye out and see if I could take one for a spin.
@@MILTONATOR Ive got one on the way and selling my commencal meta V4.2(your vid when you got yours a long time ago helped me get that bike) so when I get a few rides in ill let you know how it compares even though its way diff in suspension
Miller Reid For sure! I’m curious to know your comparison between the two bikes. Cus that v4.2 is awesome 👌🏼
Like another guy asked somewhere on another SB165 video, what would happen if an X2 were swapped in?
Hi! I am 5'11'' 180cm tall, on the cusp between Medium and Large. For SB165, do you think I should size up to a Large. Could you tell me your height? Is the reach too long? Thank you so much
Max Zhu I’m 5’ 9” and the medium felt perfectly. I suggest you compare the geometry from the sb165 to a bike you feel comfortable on. For the reach, add the length of the stem as well. Sorry, I hope this helps.
You might want to size down.
A buddy ride one too, he said climbing is surprisingly awesome...
Kevin HanYS RPA Surprisingly awesome would be accurate 👍🏽
what is the price of the cycle
i would like to buy
Doode, that kickstand gave me *wood!*
Great video man!! How tall are you? I'm 5'8 trying to decide on size but I don't have a dealer near me. Thanks!!
Thanks man. I’m 5’9” and the medium was spot on for me.
Glad to see it climbs with that much slack? How does it jump? sickazz looking beast of a bike tho
You know... I've ridden (and jumped) the SB150, SB140 and now the SB165 and all of them have felt snappy! Really easy to get up in the air.
Good review and vid
Brian Gong Thanks 🤙🏼
Sweet review!!! I am curious to ask you, how is the bike compared to the Nomad 4?
Jacopo Nordera Thanks man. Sorry but I can’t say much in terms of comparison because the last time I rode an N4 was when shortly after it first launched (sold it early 2018).
Hey man, out of curiosity what aspect of the SB140, made it not as confidence -inspiring on the steeps and chunk? What tweaks do you feel it could use?
Neigel Creese The coil, bro. It kept the sb165 glued to the ground. Kinda expensive but an 11-6 Push coil on the 140 would add a good deal of stability (I think they Push makes one for the sb140, not sure)
@@MILTONATOR rgr that, will see how init setup works out.
How high is that seatpost 150 or 125? And how tall are you? Thinking of getting myself one too 😋
I’m 5’9
namkul I’m 5’ 9” also and it’s a 150 post 👌🏼
How does the 165 compare to your new Capra descending, would you say one is better than the other downhill?
Dan K Capra feels a tad more plush downhill. But all around (up/down) the Sb165 comes out on top for me.
@@MILTONATOR Nice, I just bought an SB165 frame used but like new but felt I should have ordered a Capra instead. I prioritise my downs over ups so was worried I was too hasty pressing buy it now lol. Both seem like great bikes though, I guess you can't go wrong.
Dan K Congrats! 🙌🏼
I’m tellin you bro, coil is the movement
Liammtbxc Yea it is 🤙🏼
For sure! ive run a coil on my trail bike for the past year and wont go back to air
What happened to Havoc? No more shop?
desertmetallica The brand outgrew the shop. So yeah, no more shop, the focus is on the brand Havoc with sponsored pro athletes in Supercross and MTB ✌🏼
What did you think about those silent hubs?
Ha! Funny you asked. At first, I was really feeling how quiet they were (the entire bike felt super dialed). By the end of the ride, I kinda missed the buzzing sound...Engagement wise = excellent. But I personally lean more towards the buzz because you can feel and HEAR the speed, if that makes sense.
MILTONATOR I was wondering if it felt any faster? I figured no noise meant less friction=more speed. Good review bro!
Calavera Chronicles Thanks man! Can’t say much about faster or not, sorry.
Review the YetiSB150XX1. 👍🏻👍🏻

How does it compare to the Nomad?
isham w Personally, Yeti SB165 all day for me. This bike is pedals up and descends down amazingly.

Nit Yep! Super fun on the single tracks also.
nomad 4 or this?
Charence Baylon Sb165🤘
Crazy how good modern long legged bikes now climb
what tall are you bro?
I’m 5’ 9”
@@MILTONATOR im 5' 6", would you prefer me for S or M size?
@@ahmadhuzairi7532 oh man, that’s difficult for me to say because it also depends on riding style but based on height alone, I’d say small.
@@MILTONATOR thanx man for the opinion. i will keep it
Da beeeg bro
She big!
bring SB6 back . Lol... GOD BLESS
Haha! So long as they make room for a water bottle :)
