I never understood the hate for Nyjah. He personifies skateboarding - the progression, tenacity, love for it - he’s an elite athlete and I for one am grateful for everything he’s blessed us with. He has set the bar to a place we would have never imagined 20 years ago. His success is well deserved.

anyone who criticizes him does it from a place of envy, they call him a sellout and that has "no steez or style". When in reality he still lives the life of finding spots and grinding ever day and lives his life like most skaters and does so with money too. As if people wouldnt like having fun with their money at that level of hard work and skill combined with consistency. Hes earned his right to anything he wants at this point!

I've never understood the hate with skateboarding going mainstream. It's getting more and more people involved, if it weren't for skateboarding going mainstream through people like Nyjah and Hawk kids in Kenya, Ethiopia and all these places where they don't even have parks wouldn't have people skating
I think a fair bit comes from the contest where other people shoukd of won. But the judges ride hisbwilly and give him the wins. He is a great sakater so much better then i ever will be.

I don't buy it being Nyjah. The IOC only cares about big names and no one knows who he is outside of skateboarding. People like White and Hawk are the reasons. I think Nyjahs the best but he just doesn't have the name to make the IOC care.

Um, no, the real reason is that the IOC see's that attendance in the Summer games is slowly waning , The Olympics is looking to "Extreme sports" to boost viewership and attendance because they see the X games numbers slowly rising. Skateboarding doesn't need the Olympics, it's the other way around, don't get it twisted.
I was thinking about this today actually, I reckon without Rob Dyrdek there would be no sls and therefore it definitely wouldn’t be in the olympics within the next 20 years

Records are made to be broken, but Shane is on his game, so is Yuto, Japanese skaters are crushing it so much more than LA skaters ever were, because they know that skating takes great discipline, it doesnt come with partying or else you're a kook mythology that all the Cali skaters seem to do.

Nyjah will always be one of my favorite skaters cause his love for it is so genuine & deep!! You can see it in his face every time he lands a trick, it's so contagious it makes you wanna go try some ridiculous trick that you'll never land. And for him to still have that deep love after all these years and all the succes is super inspirational! Here's too many more years of great skating 🍻🍻

i used to be a little of a "nyjah hater" back then ... this crowd buble thinking is no good for your mental health. nowadays(and not cause of this video but is good stuff nonetheless) i admire him, i admire the little kids pushing on the streets when i go walk my dogs. idk... life is so good when you learn that you have more perspectives available for you, and that you can change. we all strugle, we all have our shadows and brighter moments.
Hope we all get more skate in 2021. this year skateboarding broke old "limits" we thoutgh existed, im so glad i had the chance to fell the skate underneath my feet this year, even tho i know theres a lot of brothers and sisters out there struggling withh all diferente kinds of problems. but we are strong and we are good to each other.

Reason why I quit Texas doesn’t have shit got to drive 20-1hr for street spots so I end up skating skate parks and that’s how my excitement has died skating the same skate parks but I’m going to get back on a board again and relearn all my tricks it’s been a while thanks to nyjah and Godspeed video that just came out has been making me want to skate again
