Left out an important step . Always find the tight section of the chain to measure slack. If you measure the loose part of the chain and adjust accordingly the tight section will be super tight putting stress on the drive sprocket at the motor.

Now I just need to keep your demo handy because the instructions are like the old Haynes manual instructions (black and white grainy pictures with instructions that read like an un-punctuated tax return spoken by a dalek).. "Now pull the slide up to tension the chain in the upward direction while keeping the tool against the top of the swingarm" It works though. Now there’s more in the garage for my Wife to moan about (the tiger 800 rear wheel is in the kitchen at the moment so she's not overly pleased with me).

Yes, have bike on the ground, although the minor differences there would be if it was on a centre stand is minimal.
