I really think that the 2004 Pistons are a Top 5 team in NBA history. I can base this solely on the fact that they dominated and completely owned prime Kobe Bryant. This series opened in LA, and the Pistons didn't even have to return. They won three games by double digits, and routed the Lakers in Game 5 to clinch the title in a game that was never really even close. In fact, it took a Game 2 OT win for the Lakers just to avoid being swept. This is unheard of. It would be like MJ getting punked, and bowing out in 4/5 games to Charles Barkley and the Suns in the 1993 Finals, or getting nearly swept by the Jazz in 1997 or 1998. Oh, not to mention that this Lakers team still had 31-year-old SHAQUILLE O'NEAL, who was an All-Star that year, and would go on to be an All-Star three more times, winning another championship in the process. This team also had Hall of Famers Gary Payton and Karl Malone, who at the age of 40 still averaged a double-double. They also had prime Derek Fisher, and a few other solid role players. And the greatest coach of all-time leading the charge. 10-time NBA champion Phil Jackson tried everything, and had absolutely no answers for the Pistons defense. The 2004 Lakers were an all-time great team that was embarrassed in 5 games. This Pistons team still doesn't get the respect they deserve 12 years later.
A Champion team without any superstar on the team. A team born from players collected/traded from various teams. A cinderella story of guys doing their best together and brought down the world. Although I'm a Lakers fan in the West, I fell in love with this team, only team I liked outside LA
@@valentinotera3244Sheed was the missing piece, but Carmelo Anthony was a superstar rookie next to LeBron James. Pistons promised to draft Melo! DUMMars failed that promise costing a declining dynasty!
I'm a fan of New Orleans but these pistons were one of the all time great teams. Very Very good Defense and Good Offense. Really I believe the last solid nba time before the common era of 3 pt shooting and non post play and even small ball came in to play.
I miss this!!! I remember being so stoked just watch the nba back in jr high!!! And not just the Pistons of '04, butthe WHOLE league!!! It seems like everyone was hungrier back then..... I said it and I'l say it again, I truly miss this fire and passion....
I remember just being in 3rd grade I honestly fell in love with the pistons and I remember my teacher was a lakers fan and i said Pistons going to win the series and he started to laugh (this was at the beginning of the playoffs). Honestly I didn't even know the whole squad because they were so underrated but I loved watching them. I watched all of their series and remember when they beat the lakers I was so happy that I went to school and celebrated in front of my teacher. The good old days.
Best night of my life when they won the 04 finals. Not joking. Ill never forget it. I almost want to cry watching this, that was the funnest team to watch ever.
Right! HD pleaaaaase!!!! And remember the Chauncey Billups music video!? "Let me roll"? I loved that too. And that one song for the team that was called.. "who says you can't go home"! I loved all those songs
Pistons will always be the synonym for Passion. It's the teams driving strength, no superstars needed. And a big cheer to Mr. Dumars, both as player and manager
2004 Detroit Pistons is one of the most underrated NBA champs, I don't know why. I know They weren't the 90's bulls, but they were an incredible, everyone was doing his things for the team and the group: Chauncey was leading the team, Rip hamilton was scoring, tayshaun prince was scoring some good points and was a beast defending, and both wallace were clearly dominating the paint. For me, one of the best teams ever! and my favourite team
2004 alone was our best team. Not only the starting lineup, we got Williamson (sixth man of the year), Mehmet Okur (great backup center) , Mike James (solid backup), Elden Campbell (past his prime but still decent), Lindsay Hunter (tough defender, good 3pt shooter). That was also the best defensive team ever assembled in my opinion because we only allowed under 85 pts/game. That's unheard of nowadays.
I'ma Bulls fan but I'm not gonna lie I was rooting for the Pistons since my Bulls didnt make it. I love the way they play the game. That 2004 Finals I was loving it because everybody was giving the title to the Lakers in PRESEASON. And the Piston WHIP their ass.
Man I get chills everytime i watch this, I hate the fact we only got one championship out of this core, and this season is a disaster. we will be back I promise you that...GO PISTONS!!!
Greatest defensive team to ever play ANY sport! There isn't a basketball team, past, present, or future (I'm looking at you Miami Heat) that could get 90 points on these guys!
If u are looking for the meaning of "teamwork" , i would immediately go to the Pistons 2004. SUCH A GREAT TEAM. not too many big named players but managed to win many games. This team was so good that they didn't even put any effort in any of their regular season games and you saw it. I saw it against Lebron James and his cavs team. 20 point lead in the 4th quarter, they pass the ball to Ben Wallace who SHOOTS A JUMP SHOT at free throw line range. AND HE MAKES IT.
They had the two best post defenders in the league in their starting 5. Hustle and grit paid off for the only championship team that had no clear cut "superstar". The MVP could've gone to anyone of those guys.
oh man what rasheed does at 3:32 to the hard work pays off sign, my basketball team got to play a game at the palace and when we left the locker room I did that same thing thats so cool also this is such an awesome video agree with this giving me chills
I don't see how u can't like this team. They are not the flashiest team in the league but they have always had hard nosed "ball players". They didn't win games by scoring 100+ a game. they won by not letting the other team score and thats what I like.
Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace, one of the greatest teams to win a title without a superstar, people saying Kobe is good cause he has 5 rings, getting rings is a team effort not a one man show.
It's shattered into Hamilton, Wallace, and Prince now D: Damn...if Sheed and Billups were still in there...then they're no doubt in a 2010 Finals! But that also depends on the bench x__x.
Hey Kobe, how about mentioning your teammates once in a while. This is what happens when teams play together with good defense and ball movement. See how happy everyone is when we SHARE THE BASKETBALL.
All good things must come to an end. We should have more than one championship with this group. I dont know what happend with them, maybe they got too content.
20 years. This video never gets old.
15 years later, I'm still glad this video exists... My favorite team ever, Cinderella team caught the magic and ran with it
Goosebumps while watching this

Word.
I live in Croatia and I'm Pistons fan from times when I was a kid! Go Pistons!

Except for Sheed wich is actually a superstar.

Watching this video in 2018 still makes the hairs on my neck stand and tear up even. Man I loved those days. I loved that team.

This is probably my favorite Pistons video of that era, it syncs so well with the music too. If only there was a HD version :/
Right! HD pleaaaaase!!!! And remember the Chauncey Billups music video!? "Let me roll"? I loved that too. And that one song for the team that was called.. "who says you can't go home"! I loved all those songs

Great team with great and a little crazy players. Thanks to Mr.Dumars and all the rest of the team.
i get goosebumps everytime i watch this. Pistons fan 4 life :D
They played amazing Defence and the offence just came naturally
DEEEETROIT-BASKETBAAAAALL!!!!! i love the pistons and great mix
I was so happy for the Pistons in 2004, the blue-collared team beating the "Hollywood" team, it was beautiful!
I'm having Piston withdraw, I forgot about the lockout, but instinct brought me to youtube and look for piston highlights.

The pistons were once a proud franchise, look at them now. I used to love the pistons and now i never pay attention to them anymore.
These Pistons played with intense passion. You don't see that in a lot of teams these days...
man that rivalry we amazing.
these days of the pistons are gone. it was good though
We will be back, one way or another, Detroit will be on top again. Believe that
yo i agree, the best nba team ever..miss this team. i wish it was back together!!
i just love how we had no superstars just people that got looked past and we made it into a winning team...incredible

2008 We Take the crown back!!!
GO PISTONS!!!

Definition of a team
the greatest pistons team of all time, even better than the bad boys of the 90s!!
RIP Davidson. He became a very rich man that year. Pistons, Shocks and Tampa Bay Lightning all in the same sports year.
Good times, both Wallace were here.
THIS IS OUR YEAR!
Greatest defensive team to ever play ANY sport! There isn't a basketball team, past, present, or future (I'm looking at you Miami Heat) that could get 90 points on these guys!
imma a die hard pistons fan i have a great feeling about tha pistons this year with brandon knight and kyle singler im tellin u tha pistons are back
I wish I could relive this team
ur right our team is a team of good team mates that actually play like a team and not one man team...we need the orginal team back.
2004 pistons , i assured will and would win miami heat of any year
The only team in NBA history without an allstar to win a title
Damn, this brings back memories. We should have won more than one championship with this group. We should have beat Cleveland this year for sure.
If u are looking for the meaning of "teamwork" , i would immediately go to the Pistons 2004. SUCH A GREAT TEAM. not too many big named players but managed to win many games. Hell of a TEAM this Piston's squad was. They really should have been a 2-3 peat champion team. Too bad what happened to them.
They had the two best post defenders in the league in their starting 5. Hustle and grit paid off for the only championship team that had no clear cut "superstar". The MVP could've gone to anyone of those guys.
DAMN I MISS THOSE DAYS... that year u couldn't pay me 2 tell u they weren't goin 2 win, they got another one comin' soon though
I really love the piston's starting 5
I'm with you, chicka (lol)
Hell yeah we love basketball.
GO PISTONS!
This team was pure gangsta'
sheed doesn't miss Horry late in game 6 in '05 these guys go back to back! GO STONES FOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song really suits this team
I'm gonna be the first to say it. Detroit's gonna win this year
Maybe in 2 years 2024
best lineup ever!
oh~Pistons is my god, I believe if coach Brown and Ben is back, their glory will be back soon!!
you know it's a great bball team when kid rock goes to one of the games
mah fav team
The end makes me cry.
I need to find a video like this but with better quality..
pistons number 1 Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh man what rasheed does at 3:32 to the hard work pays off sign, my basketball team got to play a game at the palace and when we left the locker room I did that same thing
thats so cool
also this is such an awesome video
agree with this giving me chills

Yeah, my dad talks about them all the time when we watch basketball.
Congratulation for the montage.
Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace, one of the greatest teams to win a title without a superstar, people saying Kobe is good cause he has 5 rings, getting rings is a team effort not a one man show.
i think if we still had that team today, we could be champions again, but its ok, my team will come back one day
best vidoe ever
If this was a perfect world....the Pistons would've won 2 or more championships since 2004. Great video though!
He became a superstar AFTER they won the championship.
nice video...amazing!
amazing video :)
None of them were superstars, but they knew how to work together well.
the detroit pistions must restore themselves as a team that plays the best on defense and offense
and trust me, tha pistons will come back 2 tha top of tha NBA world.
we've done 3x
we can do it again
This team wins te award for hardest to decide MVP because they all did so well. Lakers is easily Kobe
Cavs is easily lebron etc.
Watching them was like watching some friends play rather than some people doing their jobs
It's shattered into Hamilton, Wallace, and Prince now D:
Damn...if Sheed and Billups were still in there...then they're no doubt in a 2010 Finals! But that also depends on the bench x__x.
yeah TOTALLY AGREED. pistons 04 will always be the best.If they were to challenge the miami heat 2012 pistons would have thrash them
PISTONS CHAMPS 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably in the top 7-10 teams in nba history. Though, I was a laker fan in Detroit I was still please while being upset haha
It's ok. If it doesn't work in the short term, it's gonna work the long term. Money is the universal sign of success, and we got exactly that in 2010.
that s 4:0 to you ... Detroit the best team that year !!! CHAMPIONS!!
um cuz he was getting older and wanted more money than we offered... turns out he was just a golddigger, but i still love him...
Chauncey's move at 1:38 is filthy, absolutely filthy!!
Tayshaun is a beat defender LET'S GO PISTONS!!!
I hope this is the year, after 2 disappointing exits, it will be tough to lose to the celtics. Detroit 2008 Champions (I HOPE)
PISTONS WILL COME BACK!!!
Rip Hamilton shut Kobe down that year in the finals.
i miss this team and line up just as much as ben wallace missed his free throws :D
Damn I miss the old pistons line up with wallace, wallace, billups, hamilton and prince.
Mr. Big shot, j-smoove, Brandon Jennings, yeah that's right America... WE ARE BACK!!!
