“I’ve really never done anything for anyone. To fall asleep I need white noise to distract me. Otherwise I have to listen to me think. Otherwise, I pace around, hold breath, let it out, sit on the couch and think about how living’s just a promise that I made.”
every time ..
this song is so heartbreakingly true
still the most goated performance of all time
Unreal performance. Pheobe is the best singer songwriter of her generation ❤️
Excellent song, excellent delivery. Songwriters that can write good poetry and intelligent lyrical content are gold. You have a fan in Cape Town, South Africa.
phoebes knows every knot of my heart
Somehow the lines"got a job and I work here for the summer/ I fold the towels &set them by the pool" always have me tear up
My telephone, it doesn't have a camera
If it did I'd take a picture of myself
If it did I'd take a picture of the water
And the man on the offramp
Holding up the sign that's asking me for help
I got a job and I'll work here for the summer
I fold the towels and set them by the pool
Everyone looks happy with each other
'Til they step away and say the thing they really meant
They always sound so cruel
I didn't know what I was in for
When I signed up for that run
There's no way I'm curing cancer
But I'll sweat it out
I feel so proud now for all the good I've done
I know a girl who owns a boutique in the city
Selling clothes to the fashionably late
Says she cries at the news but doesn't really
'Cause it's too much fun, it's too much time
And too much plastic money to be made
I didn't know what I was in for
When they took my belt and strings
They told me I'd gone crazy
My arms are strapped in a straight jacket
So I couldn't save those TV refugees
When they're on their backs
In a bloody bath
Full of Sarin gas
On a screen
I didn't know what I was in for
When I laid out in the sun
We get burned for being honest
I've really never done anything, for anyone
To fall asleep I need white noise to distract me
Otherwise I have to listen to me think
Otherwise I pace around, hold my breath, let it out
Sit on the couch and think about
How living's just a promise that I made
Unreal how good they sound live
3:09 ...slaps...emotionally
Gives me chills everytime
Just beautiful, from the begining to the end..., that “for” is just amazing
L7
the way she crinkles her face when she sings it.... incredible
The song fucks me up in the best way. Also, CLH is bring some new life to this song with slide skills. This version is straight up hot fire. Just when I thought it couldn’t be more perfect. Wow.
Phoebe's eyebrows though... Slaying
I am wearing those very same headphones!!! They sound better on them
Love this and was lucky to see them in Manchester and Dublin in the same week, it was just before PB became so popular here in Ireland for some reason..
These two were meant to sing together
Pure magic.
Thanks! I love you guys! I’ll see you guys in Milwaukee July 19th, 2023!
ugh one of my favorite kexp performances ever
Phoebe 🖤🖤🖤
Damn, best way to start a Saturday
This is too good.
The lyrics to this song are so heartbreaking.
I saw the masterpiece
I love their love 🖤
And I am thankful
sounds like broken social scene and tom petty mixed together.
Don't you taint Tom Petty like that! XD
does anyone have thoughts on the lyrics? would love to hear em
1K "likes" ?!? This really is the darkest timeline...
Wonderful
absolutely incredibly unreal
Love this
That chorus just utterly fucking destroys me. Jesus.
This gave me goosies 😮
Does anyone know what the guitarist is holding against the strings at 0:48 ? I know the other one is a slide but i cant quite see whats in the other and i really like the sound
That's the incredible Christian Lee Hutson ❤️❤️❤️ do yourself a favour and check out his music. It's fantastic. Phoebe produced his album.
It's called an e-bow. Basically the device creates a magnetic drive that vibrates the string, producing a smooth continuous sound. It's a really cool tool.
Phoebe marry me
Phoebe!
Came here to see how Emily is doing those slides (those slides!), but, no, they didn't film that 😕
Pretty good. Whos the guy w the long hair? His voice is interesting
Billy ray cyrus
It`s Conor Oberst. This is a real answer, not a joke.
Conor Oberst, lead singer of bright eyes, he has his own music as well. He really does have a unique voice, one of my all time favorite artists honestly.
Who’s that drummer?
Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes
Who's on drums tho?
