I’ve always thought that the only thing missing on a Fisher 37 is inmast furling main & mizzen but I noticed that this one has that option! Well done, protect those sails when not in use and make reefing safer too👍!
And there's the secret to getting a Fisher to go to windward - a good set of sails properly set and perhaps the cutter rig, 7.0 knots for one of these heavy displacement yachts is nothing to sneeze at! I sailed a Fisher 30 with a Bermudan rig and made more leeway than headway! This boat seems to be performing very well with a similar hull shape so the difference has to be the sails and the setting.
Apologise for the bad camera work. I am sailing single handed and want keep one hand for my own safety (just in order to get back to my family) and one hand for the camera.
man i feel like crying. what a beautiful video. you know, i blew the chance to buy a fisher 37 15 years ago as a person with "knowledge" of them said they were a dog sailing. Well, I wish I had youtube then. Every single video in youtube has the F37 flying at 7+ knows in most cases! I've always thought that is is one of those boats with a ship's look and manly look. I love them. Now I sold my Newport 27' many years ago as I am disasbled with arthritis, so now over 10 years I don't sail, fly or do anything fun!
all any boat has to be is "good enough for who it's for". Other boats can go to weather better, or go faster, but for comfort and safety, the Fishers have a lot going for them. You match the boat to the purpose and the needs of those who will sail her.. and those folks will be happy. Many very fancy and popular designs are really quite poorly, even dangerously , built. Not the fishers from the 70;s and 80's. The materials and the build quality is really first rate.
I'm sorry for your predicament. It's always sad to hear of someone who's body is no longer aligned with their spirit. Enjoy a beer & a cigar with your poker playing buddies, I'm sure you have great stories to tell!
The Fishers seem like a very nice craft. One thing I don't like is all the exterior wood trim, it might look nice but it requires a lot of potentially expensive maintenance/replacement.
I just found out about this boat yesterday, I fell in love with it. I love sail and sailing more than power but it helps at times. just wish I could afford something like this. PS, is anyone still building them? Any where in the world?
just wondering did you change the position of the forward and aft stays bolted to the deck? thought they are normally bolted to the outside of the hull...i see this configuration is much better though
I found the sailing polar diagram you published at the Fisher owners group - I think this was you, as the provided boat name was Noorderzon. Was that diagram the result of math modeling and computation, or was it the result of many speed-wind measurements? Thanks
Hello olddog, I am honestly not aware (anymore?) that I created a polar. A long time ago I have been playing with polars for my Fisher, but ought to be never successful enough (to a certain level of trustworthiness). Can you provide a link where you found that polar?
Hello, here it is: groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/fisherowners/files Look there for the Polar.gif - the 5th file counting from the topmost one. Should u have any problem entering the site - I'll send the polars to you by email
I lost your email after I retired (1.5 years ago); u may remember, I wanted to trade my Fisher for yours. And I cannot see anymore my private messages here, on UA-cam.. Drop me a line at victor.manusov@gmail.com and I will reply with the polars
I see there are here 5 guys who did not like the video. I wonder who on earth could be like that? To me, it's like an impotent telling "a whore" at a beautiful women!
Pilot house still water-tight, or does it leak when it rains? I worry about such stuff since my piece of classic-plastic needed extensive work to fix the topside leaks.
Blowin' loud outside, coffin quiet in the wheelhouse. Perfect
Классная лодка! Мечта!❤❤❤
I no nothing about sailboats
but this one made me fall in love again, ,
thanks for sharing

The Fisher - all sizes are pure classic style... grand little ships!

moves much faster than one would expect... a witness to well designed hull shapes
I love the high bulwark on these boats. Replace the triplines (lifelines) with solid handrails, and you're good to go!

Don’t put music in the video , just raw sailing video with sound of wind .
Beautiful, good speed under sail too!
Way to go man!!!!! Wonderful....
Looks like she quarters along quite well brother!!
What’s the joy of sailing in a cold rain without a wheelhouse & in cockpit sail controls?
my dream boat, would love to circum navigate the world in this boat.

If that puts you off then it's likely sailing is too much effort for you as well.
I just fell in love 😍
Beautifully trimmed sails
Good to learn about this interesting vessel and also that I'm not the worst cameraman ever.
The actual camera is using LSD…terrible camera abilities!
She is so steady 💯

They allways were a class act .
Do they ever install captains chair so it always remains level even when the boat is rolled to the side?
SanFranciscoBay yes
just wondering did you change the position of the forward and aft stays bolted to the deck? thought they are normally bolted to the outside of the hull...i see this configuration is much better though
I did not change the stays. All kept original.
Hermoso. Saludos desde Asturias.
Inside a comfortable wheelhouse
Pure beauty
Beautiful boat.
Nothing like pushing the weight of two elephants under sail. Great Boat!
Hey, how come no whitecaps with that sort of wind?

Probably 5 guys who cant afford it
She's beautiful!
Moje marzenie
Bateau magnifique!!
Sure a pretty boat. Better than pretty, she looks like a real deal off shore boat.
Má to určité riešenia aj tak-aj inak ale je to pekná loď.
Fisher boats are about perfect!
Nice boat

@maplebay32 Ijsselmeer, Netherlands...
а lot of sails for such wind on my point of view. After all, there are gusts.
Well, she weighs 14 tonnes with 6 tonnes of that being ballast.
A ship.
Nice boat, terrible camera work!
Yes, it got me seasick just watching ! Awesome boat !
