- If you’re in a disaster zone, it may just be a rat that rescues you! Apopo is an organization that raises and trains rats to detect landmines and sniff out tuberculosis. Now these rodents have a new task; saving disaster victims. Training these rats can take from nine months to a year, with the average lifespan of a Giant Pouch Rat in captivity being from eight to 10 years. Inside Edition Digital has more.

If I saw that while being rescued, I wouldn’t be able to figure out what animal that would be. It doesn’t look like some ordinary rat. It seems to be more tamed than your ordinary rat.
It’s not a North American rat, they’re larger ones native to Africa like she said in the video. Still a rat, just not one you’d see on the subway in nyc

My sister bought 2 rat without feeling anybody and it escape from there cage and gave my mother a fright and scream when she was heading up the stairs to the toilet. Beautiful animals and I always like playing with there tales.

The backpack with camera and communications will restrict the rats mobility for jumping and squeezing through tight spaces that would be easy for him otherwise.
