Have you watch the drama " Goodbye my princess " ?. It's very nice but more tragedy than this . All the actors and actresses did a great job . Most of the audiences cannot move on from that drama.
One of the wisest emperor during the height of the Ming Dynasty.. Sad that he died at such a young age. He could do so much more for the country with his rule.
Him dying in the middle of this show hurt me sooooo much. Like I loved his character so much. I never felt so sad seeing a character die 😭 I was depressed for a day thanks to this drama!!!
The Empress of Ming is awesome! I have been engrossed with every scene which the emperor and the empress overcame the political conflicts and at last save the nation , true to their love. I love this scene.
Timber Michaud yeah I stopped after this episode as well. I loved their scenes together. As stated earlier in real life Empress Sun was the woman he loved and the mother of 4 of Zhanji’s children.
You missed out on the great ending of how she disowned her incompetent son and the entire Zhu family lol. The Zhu family was horrible to her, including the dead beat husband she married. I was not rooting for the imperial grandson to win her heart. Seriously though, the royal family sucks, even the mother in law, she became a wicked witch. She finally found happiness, even forgave her sister to not repeat the Zhu family curse on pitting siblings against siblings, and she became free and died with her first love.
Seriously the fml is a well known good actress. And if you have seen Permission to Leave recently you'll love her! But I gotta admit she was overshadowed most of the time by ml acting, he's soo good I have no word for it. Their chemistry, their playful interactions, their bickering etc etc I will never forget. I hope they get to work again in othet shows and please give us a kiss scene or bed scene atleast 😭
The ending of this drama that Ruowei and TsuiBin sailed to the sea should be treated as dream RuaWei was not in love with Zhu Zhanji before they got married because at that time she only thought about revenge and how to save her comrade in the prison. She was not thinking about love at all. However, the Royal grandson loved her at first sight and tried all his best to keep her on his side. He knew that Ruawei was not in love with her but he still wanted to married her and protect her. I actually feel sorry for the royal grandson because before he died, he was still wondering if Ruawei regret her life. But, Ruowei, loved her husband at the end and was willing to be buried with him in the same tomb, not to sail away.
Ruwei was in love with Xu Bin and always had him in her heart. I think she had loyalty & affection for Imperial Grandson but she never seemed happy. Imperial Grandson was possessive of her & was cunning with how he secured her marriage. He brought her to his palace after getting permission from the Emperor to pick his wife & then used the pardoning of the 30,000 relatives to influence her to accept the marriage. The scene of Imperial Grandson holding a rope to the small boat Ruwei was made me unexpectedly cry so much. Can't help but pity both of them. They both are loveable, admirable characters who had a sad fate.
@@kyra5858 In the scene where Ruo Wei reunites with Xu Bin after his seafaring journey, Xu Bin shares a poem which made her sad. I assumed she was thinking of Zhu Zhanji. Ruo Wei was attached to him but a character with her personality would have tolerated an impoverished life with Xu Bin if he took her proposal. (Her sister on the other hand would NEVERRR!!! Lol). I was so disappointed in the script after Emperor Zhu Dhi died! I was ecstatic to see Ruo Wei affectionate towards Zhu Zhanji after he returned from the war. I wish the writers would have explored their romance more & included more clever, quirky dialogue between them like there was in the beginning. Zhu Zhanji (pre-mental breakdown) is one of my favorite characters of all time.
I don’t think Ruowei loves Xu Bing, instead they were childhood friends and comrades. There’s no romantic chemistry between Ruowei and Xu Bing. On the other hand, the conversations between Ruowei and the prince were full of sparks and were very witty and flirting. Perhaps those were lost in translation to English.
His unrequited love made me weep. I was so sad, for both of em. Where he fell ill from just hearing that Rou wei offended his grandfather and might be executed. I was shook at what kind of love is that. The man fell ill and still went to beg his grandfather for the pardon.
@@kyra5858 right that too made me so sad that the emperor was alone in the afterlife. That confused me, because hadn't she made him a promise to find him in the afterlife and yet she chose Xu Bin
This is the story that made me pay the attention to Zhu Yawen. I was touched by this character. This prince really loved his wife. How does a man get struck by sickness from just hearing that his wife stands to be executed? I was so drawn to him to him, sadly his love was unrequited. Also, he was such a wise leader unfortunate that the politics were such a web.
This drama had many times been repeat in 8TV Malaysia but i Can't watch it but this year finally can watch it together with My mother this story really worth to watch
This drama was best when his grandfather (the previous emperor) was alive. He managed to outsmart his uncle to get the throne but then die early?!?! WTH... His grandfather's worst fears all came true too... I had to stop watching after he died.
This could genetic. Zhu Zhangji died at 37 or 38 years old. His two sons - Zhu Chi Yuk died at 29 years old and Zhu Chi Chun died at 37 or 38 years old also. They were all short lived.
The clothes and things of ming dynasty and head dresses of chinese royals and officials are sophisticated as compared to the qing dyanasty which i find lacking of sophistication, of art even the furnitures and interior of the forbidden City
I find the clothes of The Ming Dynasty and Song Dynasty were really pretty. My least favorite was the Qing Dynasty (especially the shoes and he hairstyles)

Plantogenet ID I think the writers made a mistake with the ending by having her go off with Xu Bin. The real empress Sun and Emperor Zhu loved each other.
But there are many scenes in Chinese movies where the Emperors die young, why was that and is it even true that happened. They used to have access to the best physicians at the time but in many cases , they lived short. May be the pressure that came with sitting on the throne worsened their health.
Plus there could have been genetic components too. His sons died young too. Even his father died not so elderly, when compared to his grandfather. Sad about Zhu Zhanji fying so early though, the country would have prospered even more.
R1S2 Tae in the history records, he ruled only for 10 years and died aged 35 years old. The Reign of the Ren and Xuan Emperor, which was the height of the Ming Dynasty’s golden age, includes the time both him and his father was on the throne. His dad ruled for 10 months and died to illnesses.
If he did not they would have done another mass killinhof crown prince family in barbarian world every one knows what lies behind those omnious words take care of family in travel let no harm come ect meabs politely say bye send to temple of ancstors just man eat man then man eat farm animal ❤
I hated this male lead, he never treated Ruowei right like he promised after he lost to his uncles. It was a toxic relationship. I don't know why so many people were upset Ruowei didn't love him. Xu Bin cared for Ruowei, and he even risked his life for her son later on, the same way Snape risked his life for Harry Potter even though he was not his son because he still loved Lily. Xu Bin loved Ruowei so much. He was her real knight in shining armor, not the grand son, who tried killing Ruowei multiple times just to please his insecure egotistic grandfather.
He acted very very well. I cried too much for this scene. Wish to see him in next movies.
