  • Here is how to flame paint metal with a propane burner from start to finish. It's easier than you think and a whole lotta fun as well! I will be doing more videos like this in the near future. #Findyourfire ‪@kevinthompsonmetalartist1202‬ FB @MinimalMetalArtwork

Appreciate you posting this video. Like you said, there aren't a lot of flame painting videos on here, or at least I haven't seen them. Pretty cool stuff.

Thank you for your time, very well done. It is great to see someone that believes in themself enough to show people the right way to do something. To slowdown is the way for them to relax and learn.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this. I have watched other videos on the subject, because I've been trying to learn. However, my results were a lot of wasted time and Mapp gas. You gave me the info that I needed to do some really nice work..... THANKS!)

Hey mate, keep the vids coming but you should hold you camera landscape if you doing UA-cam. Also show a close up of the work for a decent amount of time Like 10 second. Good on you 🤙

Hey Kevin Great info I love your art.
I've colored torched tanks bells for year or so, but when I tried to torch color a steel scuba tank I can't get to change colors. I've used oxi-ace, and propane any suggestions would be appreciated.

Excellent tutorial. Using a large flame source is a great idea. I've used a propane torch but now I realize the heat is too focused and its too easy to overheat the metal forcing me to work too fast. Could the coloring be even more controlled by using an air gun set at very low psi to counteract the heating for focused coloring? Just a thought.

So it doesn’t warp when heating? I’ve had issues with stainless warping real bad when I try to color. Haven’t found a good solution yet

Great tutorial! How do you treat the metal afterwards? Some kind of laquer?

Does the metal rust? How do you protect the metal and the color or does the color stay that way?

Would this work the same with copper?

If you were to do it over a piece of mesh for example, do you think that the heatsoak of the piece below would transfer into a textured pattern on the piece?
Or perhaps a piece of old cast iron filigree.

I think you can go beyond the gun metal and more colors will appear.

Being thin steep I think it would more than likely warp
