Direction mark on CT was correct, your CT sense wiring on device (yellow and black wires) was reversed, which is why it was showing negative amps.

You only needed one clamp. And it just has to go around one of the hot wires. Current flows in one hot and out the other just like a hot and neutral. Overall your power readings will be correct by adding because the sensor thinks you are looking at 120v circuits because that is your source voltage. Best setup would be one clamp on one hot and the sensors power feed needs to be from both hots of the 220/240v circuit

Yea I figured it out recently when comparing two minisplit AC. One was 120 and other was 240. They should have been same wattage and then my EE classes kicked in and realized current flows one direction 😂. So all my meters have one CT now.

@@TunerwithKids funny I just order one for my minisplit I just installed in my garage

@@TheVintageEngineer yea I just posted my second minisplit install video for my garage. It’s an odd shape so I needed more coverage around the corner so added a second 1-ton. $421 plus all the misc install parts.

I have lots of shop equipment. I want to know if I left something on or off. I think this device could work, but don't fully understand how you have the contact setup. For example, if I use constant power for L-in and N-in, then when the machine turn on, how do I use S1, S2 as inputs? Can I grab a 24v output signal from my machine (or 110v) and hook up to the S1? Great video, by the way. Thx

I think you should put two different CT coil on two different hot wires ( Grid consumption and solar generation) , not between Live and Neutral.

I just like seeing this sort of innovation. Very inspiring. Well done.

Thanks for this. I was looking at using one of the single phase monitor clamps on the power input to my solar inverter so that I can be alerted for power outages ( the inverter fuse trips from time to time). Does the Tuya app allow notifications if it detects power outage ? Thanks

You can set notifications when it loses power or watts drop below a certain value.

@@TunerwithKidsjust realised that the inverter input cables are direct current so I will need to find an equivalent dc smart meter, if I can find one.
