Had been using tuya based products for my home and office, after watching your video than i realised there are actually local companies that support tuya as well, especially with local certification. Thank for the sharing.
Hello Wee Keat! That's correct, we design & manufacture our own lighting hardware and have them tested by certified labs to ensure that they comply with Singapore's safety standards! You can find our products at www.near.sg
Been looking at smart products from local/overseas online platform. Overseas can be cheaper but local companies give a peace mind of the local authority certification and also warranty. Your channel has been my go to place for information with smart product and renovation!
Back in December 2020 when I first got my BTO keys.. there were not a lot of information on Smart Homes. During my renovation times in 2021, I came across your videos on UA-cam and have been learning as I go. I'm now a proud smart homeowner. Thanks Alex!
As an upcoming home owner (in a few months time!), I'm really liking all the videos about reno, appliances, taobao and home automation. Really doing everyone a great service with your content, keep it up Alex!
There are just so many brands out there and it's great to see local companies expanding into this space while adopting widely used standards for that interoperability assurance. Most of us home owners are not paying enough attention to the fire safety and cyber security aspects, with me included 😛 Thanks for showing us these lines of products and the giftaway!
I have been using only tuya smartlife products for my home. They are pretty easy and straightforward to set up for beginners to smarthome system. So glad to see you reviewing some of their products, especially from local companies! I'm definitely interested in the robot vacuum to help me and my wife with the daily house chores (: Great effort in your video as always!
Hi Jay, me too! I am also using Tuya products for my home as well. They are easy to set up and able to integrate with Amazon Alexa which I am using as my home assistant.
Great to see a review on local companies in the smart home market. It really hits the main reason of why we should get it locally. As cost comes down, it makes more sense to get locally for warranty and peace of mind knowing that these products are made for use in Singapore by Singapore companies. I first came across Near.SG one year ago. And been using their lighting system and have to say it’s fantastic. Kudos to them and you for doing this review!
Dear Alvin, thank you from the bottom of our hearts here at Near. Your kind words are indeed encouraging, our team here works really hard to innovate and manufacture smart lighting products so that everyone can enjoy a better life without overpaying! Truly Grateful for your continuous support!
I have always thought that smart homes are too complicated so having someone to introduce the smart home concept and recommend products for us to use is very educational and helpful!
This channel is a blessing for all upcoming homeowners. A treasure trove of information and insights! Love how the setups and testings were all done with our local context in mind. Home automation has always appeared daunting, definitely appreciate the concise explanations and demo footages. Keep up the great content and looking forward to joining the homeowner tribe in Singapore!
This video is just so timely. I'm currently exploring on Tuya platforms and I was about to purchase a host of unknown brands trying my luck on smart switches etc for my reno. Glad you brought up on the reliability issue with certs/warranty etc. Will look into NEAR products to make a decision. Keep up the good work.
Hello Kenneth! Thank you so much for considering Near! Alex is correct! Tuya is an IoT platform like how Android is to Samsung/other android phones. At Near we are constantly innovating to design & manufacture amazing smart lighting products to suit Singaporean homes while being supported by Tuya so that we can do what we love without compromising on the technological aspect of things. You'll be pleased to know that our smart lighting products come with 2-year warranty & are IMDA + Safety-Mark certified. Thank you for supporting local! www.near.sg
Am renovating my house now and engaged a company to setup smart home automation. They had used the Home@UTO smart switches. Good to know that this is a good local brand. First time hearing about Tuya as well. Thanks for the informative video!
Great to see more collaboration on local companies, one of the concern getting online was warranty and able to get help from the seller if any issue. Thanks for the having the giveaways!
As always - great effort in promoting the use of smart home and educating people with easy to understand videos! Amazing how there are so many smart home vendors out there, compared to few years back.
Have been watching your videos for awhile now, thanks for introducing all the smart devices and testing out appliances so that we can have a more informed decision when making a purchase. Thanks Alex!
Love watching your video, came across this channel when i search for home reno. Going to reno my house in a few months time and all videos are super helpful!! So rare to find a fellow Singaporean to do these videos. Thank you so much!!
Thanks for your content, Alex. We have so few content creators for Singapore residents, and for someone who's interested but hesitant to try smart products, your content is great. Thank you and keep it up!
Chanced upon your videos when I was searching for a robot vacuum cleaner. Your unbiased reviews were helpful to me. It prompted me to check out your past videos and omg I was stuck … I kept watching one video after another … they were so informative. I will continue to follow your future sharing. Thank u for your efforts. 💪
Another amazing educational video - gotta say the whole smart home eco system can be quite confusing to navigate and I'm always so grateful when someone can translate all the difficult technical things into something that new (or existing) homeowners can understand and appreciate! It's still really easy to get confused over what brands can offer vs what their products actually do (e.g. Tuya Smart Life vs Google Home) so I found all those extra clarifications at the end of the video super useful - pls keep them up! Really looking forward to your next video and am using your videos as a quick guide to getting my own smart home journey started (just in time for my new place!). 🥰
Thanks for reviewing Tuya products. I had used Tuya products also. So far so good. Great to see there are local companies that Sell these products. 😀👍👍
love your videos! its nice to find a local youtuber that does so much research and quality reviews for all these appliances, esp since its local its so easy to relate and know what’s available in sg! thank u!
Thanks for showcasing local companies' Tuya products! I've successfully installed Aqara switches integrated with Google Home/Smartthings for my bedroom and study room. Trialing them before i get my own place this year! Satisfied so far but happy (and open) to hear of other options that i can consider!
Appreciate your concise and honest review! I like the Tuya Smart Home products, especially the Mowe robovac! I'm a foreign worker here in SG and the only tenant of 'Uncle' and 'Auntie.' I've been living with them since 2011 because they have been good to me. If I will be lucky to get selected, I would like to use the robovac in their HDB flat so that in a way I'm helping them clean the living area and dining area while they are sleeping. Currently, we are using a traditional mop.
This is a channel that encourages smart home utilisation and Alex is always giving great advices to the viewers. Thank you for all the information you provided. 😊
Chanced upon your videos just when I started reno for my house. And thanks to you I am deep in the smart home rabbit hole. Your videos are straight forward and easily understood. But after watching this video I am kinda worried as I bought wireless tuya smart switches online from China. Do you think I should change to zigbee switches instead?
Good questions! Alex is right, go for Zigbee switches because most Zigbee switches do not have neutral wires (compatible with Singaporean homes) & Zigbee products act as repeaters which helps tremendously with responsiveness! You can shop for both touch and mechanical switches at our website www.near.sg - we provide a 2-year warranty as well for your peace of mind!
Thanks for always doing these videos! I believe you've opened the eyes and homes to hundreds, if not thousands of Singaporeans (mine included) to the Smart world. Really appreciate your dedication in replying questions too!
Upcoming homeowner here! Have been learning a lot from your reviews so thanks a lot for all your efforts in simplifying the home automation journey for me! Looking forward to your next video! 😊
Been learning more about the smart home products in singapore from you. You single handedly made me plan to get smart switches and other devices for my upcoming house. Keep up the good work.
In the midst of applying for my new flat! Thank you for staying true to smart home automation Alex! You're helping the community adopt this massively :)
Watching your videos is really helpful in educating myself about the available smart home options in Singapore. Most of the content online is usually in US/CN and it is not immediately apparent how the functions translate to the local use case. Even though its still a couple of years away till I get my own space, many of the pointers you have given will definitely help in the decision making process when the time comes for me to make the purchases.
Nice overview of our local smart home landscape. I would love to see an example of home automation centered for seniors. Maybe an example of smoke detectors, gas detectors, night lights
HAAAAAAAY ALEX THERE 👋 your channel was introduced by my lovely wife as we are currently in the midst of going through our first home renovation and getting a lot of information from you for mostly Smart Home Starter Pack. What I especially like it when you explain everything so nicely and I believe this will help many first time home owners with all your information and knowledge provided by you. I wish you a lot of success with the channel and happy life to your family too.❤ Cheers!
Thanks for showing some of the smart products by local companies, I didn't know have local brands and will definitely consider them as I am planning for home automation 👍
As always, thanks for the comprehensive guide on usage of smart devices. Have been meddling with Tuya smart devices lately. Finally get to learn more in-depth about Tuya devices from your video. Thanks
Hello there! Thank you for considering our products! We are sure that you'll love our smart lights as much as we do! You can learn more from our website: www.near.sg
I have been watching your videos for the longest time to prepare for my new home 😆and this year I can finally apply all those knowledge to create my dream home. Thanks for the video Alex bro, great job as always 😀
Thanks for the informative video as always! Was always super intimidated by making the house "smart" but I have learnt SO MUCH from all these video guides. Going to start our reno journey soon and your videos are perfect to help us through it. Thank you as always!
Thank you for sharing the local companies and being the go-to channel for all my smart home questions. I learnt a lot about smart home automation from your channel and always look forward to your video releases.
Thanks for raising the awareness for these brands as there isn't much videos out there. Its super useful for a person starting a smart home. Thanks for the giveaway.
Hello Alex! Thanks for sharing the local smartlife products. You have convinced me and my wife to set up a smart home after we get our keys at EOY! Looking forward to more videos from you!
Thanks for the easy to understand explanations regarding the different platforms and integration. Your videos are really helpfuil to new homeowners like myself, keep up the vids!
Hey, I am not from Singapore. too bad won't be able to try my luck! but I want to thank you for this video, been ages looking around to set up my devices and apps and turning my home into a smart home. The last part of your video is essential for all beginners, especially for countries where not all the brands are available. getting to know the process of the app and which one has linked to which platform is important. finally, I want to check whether these items especially the ceiling lights are available in my country, again thank you and thumbs up
Great intro to Tuya smartlife products, I’m learning smart home automation and planing to set up for my sister upcoming new home. I’m also learning Home Assistant setup (know about this from your video), think tuya is one of the value product to buy.
Thanks for clearing the air on Tuya and other home automation questions. Seems like you're the only Singaporean that does this content in detail, and I started to get smart devices based on your recommendations. Looks like time to get more and support local at the same time. Win win ... :)
Thanks for explaining the tuya devices. I got their ir device as per previously recommended by you and never regretted it since. Now I can adjust the aircon and fans easily from the bed.
Thanks for the video! I have 2 questions 1) Using smartthings app, can I also control the NEAR smart lights like changing colour and dimming other than just turning on/off and setting automation? 2) Can I create scene for NEAR products in smartthings app and remote scene switches?
1. Yes, there are 2 color wheels - rgb and standard white to warm 2. Yes as well, scene switches are not natively integrated, got to side load the edge driver if its available
Great sharing. It seems a lot simpler to go with Tuya. Looking towards to work on some smart home integration with my new home later in June. Decided to switch over to Near instead of our original lighting plan.
Thank you for considering our brand, Cray! Our passion & first love will always be lighting. Near was created primarily to bring quality & affordable smart lighting to Singaporean homes. For your peace of mind, our smart lights come with 2 years warranty & they comply with IMDA & Safety-mark standards! You are welcome to shop at our website: www.near.sg or visit any of our partnering showrooms to get some hands-on experience!
its not something that can be easily explained over a comment, I suggest you to check on the videos at the channel @AutomateYourLife or check out smartthings community forum
Great Video. Recently I am trying to setup a DIY smart home for my new house. Now I understand the 3 different local brand that provide smart devices and support Tuya.
Love how informative your videos are, teaching people what to look out for and giving your own point of view on the products. Keep up the great effort!
Great video! Simple to understand how Tuya operates compared to other brands. Also good to support companies or at least with local presences that carry IMDA and other relevant certifications.
Glad to see this channel growing! Over the years, I have personally tweaked my home setup with some of your recommendations. For e.g. your purchase of the "taitaile" laundry system gave me the guts to implement it in mine too and try more brands. Really appreciate the local contextual perspective.
I’ve been following your channel for quite some time. Your advices on smart home appliances and integration have greatly benefited me on my attempt to install some smart home gadgets at home!
Moving into my home 1 year ago, I must say that the smart home advice you gave on your youtube videos have been super helpful. Thanks for also answering some of my questions on Instagram. :)
Hi Alex, good series of smart home videos you have. I have watched most of them and I'm about to start my home reno and thinking of setting up a smart home. Should I engage a smart home company (koble, home-a-genius etc) or buy my own smart switches/devices? There are so many different brands of smart devices so my main concern is integration. If I go for a dedicated company I'm afraid that I won't be able to integrate other devices of my own in the future. If you were to start all over again which line of products would you go for? Thank you for your advice.
which line of products to go for is heavily dependent on which platforms you choose, so its important to find out what platform the smart home companies are using if you decide to engage one. And in terms of which platforms to choose is depending on your requirements and technical profile
we decided not go get a water dispenser for our new home cause its wayyy too expensive! the smart kettle will be really useful for people like us who wants warm water as and when we need. thanks for organising this alex! your videos have been really helpful for those who's intending to start their smart home journey!! personally binge watched your videos and got a really good understanding how things work! appreciate your effort! :)
Hello Alex! Thanks for sharing all the smart home devices and set up. Your channel has always been the go-to channel for all things related to smart home!
Just upgraded my flat from 4 to 5rm. Reno talks in the way, like all the videos about smart automation. Nice content and after your reviews i will be getting quite some aqara switches and hub.
Thanks for sharing. This is very helpful but I find it difficult to find the brand recommended in tuya expo. Any tips on how to go abt locating the specific brand like Near? Newbie looking to smart proof my upcoming new place😅
Hello there! Thank you for considering our brand. You can learn more about our products at our website: www.near.sg. We believe that you'll love our products as much as we do!
Video came just in time as I'm about to get a digital lock that uses the Tuya App. Great video for people who wants home automation but do not want to spend heavily on it. 👍🏻👍🏻 Look forward to more of your videos. 😊
very informative. I built my smart home thanks to your tutorials! now im just missing on the BOOM factor with the strip lights and surveillance on my dog with a new IP camera
Been following your videos since the Smart Home Tour. Very informative and useful. Getting my own house soon and hope to incorporate these smart devices in my home. 😁
Aspirating smart home owner in the future, will save this video for future reference. Thanks for the breakdown between Tuya and Tuya-compatible products!
Hi Alex! Great to know that there so many Brand/product that actually support the local standard and give the assurance to us the user especially with the warranty.. awesome video too! I am awaiting to start my smart home journey soon, learnt so much from all your video !
Nice to see more choices that we can use for smart home than the few old brands. Thank you for bringing these kind of contents to us and giveaway as well!
Was looking at products from Taobao and amazed to know of so many local companies that sell them too. The added local safety and privacy certifications are definitely a draw. Thanks for the great video, Alex!
Great information! My house is under renovation now and I have bought a few Tuya automated item after watching your previous videos! Not a lot of those smart items but slowly but surely will have them up!

Can Tuya integrate with Apple
Home kit?? Does it require like a hub or something. Or is just plug and play?
Thats the first thing i bought

Thanks for clearing the air on Tuya and other home automation questions. Seems like you're the only Singaporean that does this content in detail, and I started to get smart devices based on your recommendations. Looks like time to get more and support local at the same time. Win win ... :)
yup haha, i mean since you decide to get tuya products then why not choose local?
Thank you for your decision to support local!
Thanks for explaining the tuya devices. I got their ir device as per previously recommended by you and never regretted it since. Now I can adjust the aircon and fans easily from the bed.
nice!
I'm just starting my journey into home automation and its nice to see relatable content here in SG :D
Thanks for the video! I have 2 questions
1) Using smartthings app, can I also control the NEAR smart lights like changing colour and dimming other than just turning on/off and setting automation?
2) Can I create scene for NEAR products in smartthings app and remote scene switches?
1. Yes, there are 2 color wheels - rgb and standard white to warm
Happy to help!
Hi Alex, can you advise on how to connect MOES Zigbee wall switches to Aeotec hub / Smart things?
Thanks in advance!
its not something that can be easily explained over a comment, I suggest you to check on the videos at the channel @AutomateYourLife or check out smartthings community forum
Great Video. Recently I am trying to setup a DIY smart home for my new house. Now I understand the 3 different local brand that provide smart devices and support Tuya.
Hahah this video came at just the right time. Had just ordered my Tuya hub, hopefully no major issues for my smart home journey. *Fingers crossed*
Great video! Thank you for giving the in depth introduction on the Tuya platform, especially with the focus to cater to Singapore smart home products.
Your videos are always so educational and easy to understand. Will be trying and implementing a smarthome for my new house. 😀
thanks thanks!
Very helpful - Shall study this as I build my smarthome in the next few months!
Love how informative your videos are, teaching people what to look out for and giving your own point of view on the products. Keep up the great effort!
Learn a lot from your video previously before my bto is ready and now I am able to setup my own smart home using Tuya products.
nice!
Simple yet great review Alex. It's been a while and great to see new video!
Really appreciate the local contextual perspective.
yeah its cool to see my viewers going their smart home setup together with me
I’ve been following your channel for quite some time. Your advices on smart home appliances and integration have greatly benefited me on my attempt to install some smart home gadgets at home!
I love watching your introduction to these smarthome products. I'm just starting out and this is helpful.
Moving into my home 1 year ago, I must say that the smart home advice you gave on your youtube videos have been super helpful. Thanks for also answering some of my questions on Instagram. :)
sure, happy to help :)
thanks for the sub and watching my videos!
Thanks for the video! Does any of the wall switches have always on functionality?
able to elaborate?

Thanks for sharing. This is very helpful but I find it difficult to find the brand recommended in tuya expo. Any tips on how to go abt locating the specific brand like Near? Newbie looking to smart proof my upcoming new place😅
ya the tuya expo are mainly for bulk purchase, many of them have minimum order quantity. Have to do a little googling and research
