You can actually get both weapons from the remembrance. All you’ll have to do is find the turtle bell with the mausoleum on its back, bring it down by hitting the white skulls either on its legs or on its back. Once it’s down, go inside and duplicate the remembrance and you’ll be able to purchase both weapons at the roundtable.
This is what bothers me about khraze is he just dumps videos without even doing research. Its been known that these mausoleums dupe boss souls lol, this video was JUST released... Cmon strive for better Khraze. We count on you.
There is no consequence if the champion npc's die at the boss battles, they still appear and reward you at the roundtable hold. Also they can help you farm the area before fighting the boss if you take them with you for farming around their summon sign. I used this in particular to help speed up farming items sets that I wanted.
@@josephobregon4419 I'm not sure - I didnt meet the mage guy beforehand, but I did meet the warrior woman before godrick. They both showed up in the roundtable hall, and both gave me stuff

7:00 The default Ash of War is not gone when you replace it. All you have to do is use the Ash of War you replaced it with on another weapon and it will remove it (so as to put onto the other weapon). The game then grants you back the weapon's default Ash of War (for eg. Unsheathe for Uchigatana) so there is nothing lost.
The no SKill shield art is good if you use shield but don't care about any shield arts, it will allow you to use your right hand weapon art without having to two hand. Blood slash and unsheathing without having to two hand a weapon is clutch!
Definitely! That was making me crazy with the shields I had in the start. Hard to do the unequip mid combat for some sweet unsheath action sometimes. There's one for sale in the swamp area after the Stormveil castle if you follow the road and look for a bonfire on your left, you can get there without actually doing the castle if you can't wait, by finding a passage on the east side of the castle.
Barricade Shield will let you block almost anything, which creates tons of guard counter opportunities even against bosses. Guard Counters are BROKEN!!!
You dont need to defeat margit in order for rodrika to go to the round table, you can go around the castle and down the cliffside in order to unlock the grace early as hell. I did this on accident but theres a broken bridge beneath the castle, follow the path to the wolves (i suggest avoiding them they are insanely strong early on) and just after them look down the cliffside, theres messages that will guide your descent. Once you get to the site of grace marika will take you to the round table and you can do this at any point in the story. 😬
Yep, that's true. I have Rodrika doing her thing at the Roundtable place, and haven't even tried fighting Margit yet, so I knew that bit of Khraze's video wasn't true, though I wasn't sure why.
Literally watched my bf... run down that way on accident as a green goblin-looking wretch... and didn't die to the wolves. With only a club lmao (he enjoys making any game's character like... disproportionate and ugly lol)
Yeah I haven't even looked at Margit. Just ran down that path with Torrent, passed up all the wolves and unlocked the roundtable with no fuss. Have spent all my time so far just slowly exploring and getting a feel for things before I touch any bosses, you can find a surprising amount of cool stuff.
If you go to the Deathtouched Catacombs, the boss drops a talisman that gives health for critical attacks. It's not a ton of health, but early on before you get better gear, it helps with being aggressive since you can often recover the health you might lose trading hits.
Likewise, the tower of return in the southern map takes you to a giant. If you run past you can grab a Talisman that grants HP regen. While its not a lot, its passive and you can easily just sit in a corner for 20 seconds instead of using flasks.
@@gittonsxv126 that health regen talisman works like the items in the previous games that worked the same. if you rapidly equip and unequip the talisman it will continually give you HP back. its tiny but in a pinch where youre caught somewhere and out of estus it can help
That talisman it's good for multi-player only thats way you dont use your estus. The 1st part of the game invest on the sacred tears there are like 5 scattered across limegrave easy.
A little tip, you can double every Remembrance by bringing it to a walking mausoleum. Just hit the glowing stones at it's legs until it falls down. You can do one Remembrance per mausoleum.
@@seanbennett1137 there's only 3 walking Mausoleums in the entire game, So you can only get 3 of the dupes so choose wisely. I recommend beating the entire game before you use any of the Mausoleums, so then you can duplicate for you NG+ playthrough and have some cool gear.
One of the masoleums does not have the skulls on the legs. They are located around the masoleum's entrance and requires you to get on top to do so.. thankfully the creature wanders into a wall where there are platforms to jump onto it.

If what you're saying is legit, then there's 4. 2 in the second are on the right side of the map near the physical bodied Horn people and I can't recall where the third one i found was, but it had a bell. All 3 of those I took down by hitting the legs. Lmao, the first one I jumped on top before taking it down. I tried to open the door and it started jumping while my character was in stuck in the animation and I clipped inside it and couldn't get out.
On the other hand, playing overly aggressive can often get you killed. Especially against enemies that you can't interrupt easily. Experiment. Don't stick to one playstyle if it isn't right for your current fight.
Biggest mistake I see a lot of people doing is investing in your damage stat of choice too early, when you first change an ash of war on a weapon the base dmg goes down and you rely on the scaling to overcome and surpass that deficit. The thing is weapon scaling starts off pretty terrible and it's not until around B scaling that your weapon will be on par with what its base would be. Usually around weapon tier 4-5 on regular upgraded weapons 3-4 on somber. Other than stat prerequisites to use the weapon you are much better off investing in your core first. Vigor and Stamina and Mind if a mage or otherwise heavily fp dependent. Then start leveling your corresponding dmg stat as your weapon starts hitting its stride where you can then change the ash of war towards the scaling you want.
Most of this is true except when you go mage there's an s tier int staff that you can use until end game. It also boosts gravity spells. Extremely powerful, im level 50 and still one hitting most non boss enemies with my starter Pebble spell. I've been mainly leveling intelligence hardly anything else.
@@amatesamaru Sorta of an exception to the rule in that the staff innately starts at s scaling while nearly every other weapon has to upgrade towards it.

If you put a ash of War on a weapon you don't lose its previous one. you are able to remove it, just go back in like you're going to add another one and there's an option to remove the current one.

An important note, getting the ash items doesn't allow you to summon the spirits by themselves. You also require a 'Spirit Calling Bell' which you get by returning to the Church of Elleh at night(?) after getting the horse. Speak to the lady sitting on the north wall of the church. Using ashes of any kind is a HUGE benefit introduced in Elden Ring for solo players. They can only be used if you are not summoning other players, but ash summons do not increase the HP of a boss like gold phantoms do.
I had trouble with that. I thought since I wasn't actually a mage build I wouldn't be able to summon. Turns out you just gotta wait for that icon in the corner of the screen to pop up. It's location sensitive and alot of people don't know that it seems
@@eagleforce4116 once you have them equipped in your items slot, if you're in a valid location & your key bindings are default, I believe it's the r button, but you should be able to check your settings if you press esc.
"Being too cocky and running straight into Margit" that was exactly my first mistake and what made me come search for help on understanding the game better. For some reason i thought i had to defeat it and i just sucked because i couldn't even get past the first boss
I thought it was the progression route lol. I’ve played every souls game . Only games I bothered with platinum on PSN. FromSoft smacked me lol. I went and leveled up which is the only thing that I kinda feel should be a bit more attainable in this particular game. Now getting the right gear and upgrades. H3ll yeah awesome! Oh. Big thing maybe people need to know. You have to buy the consumables to ‘SEE’ co-op help at bosses etc. I spent the first 2 days changing my online settings thinking I did something wrong. It sucked. I haven’t seen a article specify this 1 point
@@Bunny-Bones It's a From Soft game, so this didn't surprise me when I figured it out. There are always a lot of things that you would appreciate them telling you, but they don't. Then again, this isn't, as I said, surprising. They want you to go through the game, figuring it out. They teach you the basics, and those basics are all you need to play it, even beat it, but everything else is something you have to work out yourself. And this game is one that also rewards going off the beaten path, as they want you to explore.
@@Bunny-Bones actually I think one of the crafting books from the merchant at the beginning with the anvil let’s you craft the fingers to summon players into your game. Even better they only take 2 erdleafs to craft so not hard to have enough whenever you need one.
Idk if someone already said this but you can get rodreika (upgrade summons girl) to go to round table hold before margit. You can also go back to the shack she was in originally for a golden seed.

Another tip, use mounted combat extensively to be able to ride away from difficult situations (specially for bosses that allow it). For example, Minor Erdtrees are easier on horse and enemies that overpower you in Liurnia East can be defeated using this method. Also, try going to the Siofra River early on after defeating Godrick, many useful items and a way around to Cairn are there.
Erdtree avatars are much easier on foot if you can roll, all you have to do is roll forward into its attacks. Avoid using shields, they hold you back most of the time, make you put more points into endurance than needed and leave you very open when you run out of stamina. Learn how to roll instead, then you can have a weapon in your offhand, specifically one that matches your main hand's weapon type, and you can double your damage instead of dying to lack of stamina, shields are more of a fashion souls thing for me. The guard counter is good, but its not reliable and later on it doesn't do much for you. For a mage, that means having a melee weapon in your main hand and your staff in your offhand, better to have more options! Also, for the Avatar's magic machinegun attack, you just have to distance yourself and sprint to the side once it starts raining on you, or use the horse to get away. Rolling forward strategy also applies for the scarlet avatars in Caelid. You can avoid the rot stomp by staying close or behind the avatar. All in all, the erdtree avatar telegraphs all of its moves A LOT, its very easy to dodge and I would recommend practicing dodge rolls on it. If you're wondering, you can use your coop sign near the stake of Marika near erdtree avatars to practice more after you killed it. Its an easy way to get rune arcs and you're helping other players in need.
@@northernsoul0127 an Erdtree is more of a silly example, but dragons are also easier on horse back, as well as mounted enemies in North East Liurnia, etc. But yes, I am playing a melee and crossbow character and it is quite fun to not use the horse sometimes, but the horse makes things oh so much easier and less prone to "controller damage", if you know what I mean. 😅
@@Andrumen01 I get what you mean, I recently made a dual Ultra Greatsword build and to be honest that is probably one of the cheesiest builds you can make, also its a wizard, and both greatswords scale on intellect. Incredible damage, but slow, and everything staggers on hit.
There's a side path if you want to avoid Margit early on and move on and unlock some stuff first (You don't have to Defeat Margit to get Ashes upgrades). Don't worry about NPC summons dying, they'll still be around (2 characters in Round Table confirmed). Uchigatana's Unsheath is a basic Ashes you can find early on, and "replacing" it doesn't hurt it. You can always give it back Unsheath, for free. Just pick your enchanted Uchigatana, select the Ashes of War you placed on it and select "Undo Enchantment". For the 3 turtle, if you can't find the 3rd turtle check the trees.
@@shadowxhero4953 so you have to go to the ramparts there’s a big dude like the very first boss (the one that kills you and then you start the game) and in a room at the back there’s a pile of bodies, a giant hung up on a meat hook and some dogs. Kill the dogs and there’s a not for the crystalids. You have to make sure you’ve spoke to her a bunch of times in the shack where she is (just before the main gate into the castle) ..hope this helps!
FYI to use the power of a great rune you have to use a rune arc that will give you the buff of the great tune till u die For example Godrich’s gives you +5 to each one of your stats when you use it
@@Quang1999 the best analogy is to think of Embers or Humanity from other souls games but split into 2 pieces. The main piece (the great rune itself) is the non-consumable, infinitely usable part that you equip and get different things depending on whose rune it is. But in order to get the benefits of that rune, you require the second part: a Rune Arc. That is the consumable item that goes away when you use one, but then the boss’s rune itself will give you the benefits until you die. And you can get all the rune arcs you could ever need from an NPC in round table hold
Mine was +5 before Margit and in the save i had deleted beforehand, I had 8 charges i think. They really want you to explore a shit ton before progressing the story.
the reanimated militiamen are incredibly powerful, they keep coming back to life as long as they dont get hit when they're dead. SUPER useful on many aggressive bosses
the mad pumkinhead guy is awesome too, with no upgrades on his final attack chain does like 300 dmg and can tank bosses for AWHILE, and solo packs of small enemies with all of his AOE it's awesome, Oleg is a beast too spams Spinning Slash seemingly without any regard for stamina or cooldown lol
U dont have to defeat margit to unlock the ability to upgrade the jellyfish!!! All u have to do is speak with the girl and unlock the round table location and u can get that done right away it was the first thing i did!
@@makaiokalahama im not sure. I spoke with her at the shack the 3 times when i first found her and i did that before unlocking the roundtable. After i got the roundtable, she was there and I finished her questline. Then u go back to where she was sitting at the shack for a surprise.
The Summons depends on who your fighting, if your fighting a boss with minions the Wolves are usually more helpful to take aggro from the minions. If the boss is just one tough mofo then the jellyfish is definitely worth considering as it can tank for you. Also you can duplicate the boss rune's and get both boss weapons, take down the massive turtle things and inside you can duplicate the boss rune.
Jellyfish is really bad, can die in one hit. I recommend you Lhutel, is an incredible tank, for the bosses is one of the best. You can find in the south island, in the Tombsward Catacombs. It's relatively close to the starting place, you don't need a big advance to get it.
@@Zekushion6 You're missing the point, it's worth switching up your summons depending on the fight. There is obviously going to be better tanks than the Jelly Fish but its a good starter. I am going to get the one you mentioned though 👍.
There a summons called mimic tear you can get, it creates a copy of the player(spells and all). It also very tanky, can heal it self, and do good damage.
Duplicate that remembrance first at a walking cathedral, when you find one just knock the skull barnicles off their feet for a bit and they will stop walking and lay down, you can only duplicate one remembrance at each walking cathedral but eventually you'll come across another area with three of them stomping around
For new people at Souls games only: to do the back stab move that looks so cool, sneak up real close, like on their coattails close, and then tap R1, don’t hold it. If you tap too early it won’t do it. Standing on their heels close is my tip.
As someone who started with DS3 where you had to hold left click, it took me a bit to realize that DS1 only required tapping it. Tapping was a bit more convenient but the only reason you need to hold it now is for PVP reasons because in ds1 you could tap left click and just backstab someone from some distance away.
Yeah if you talk to her before you get to the roundtable, she’ll show up there. And you can probably just fight a side boss or two to get her there otherwise
@@BlobFGC it does not. I had 13 dex on base, and with the godric rune with power i coud not equip a weapon with 14 dex requirement, so no boost at all.

The bleed Ash of war on the katana is much better than the normal unsheath imo. You aren't slowed to a halt while holding it, and the bleed has much better range which makes spacing against bosses and landing hits for those that move away much easier
You can find a whetstone to equip any scaling with any of the basic weapon arts. There’s also ones like the magic whetstone that let you put magic and frost scaling on any ash of war.
You missed one. Take the um “Boss Soul” to the walking tombs. Destroy the crystals on its feet. It will then sit down allowing you to go in. You can then double the boss……”Soul” allowing you to get both boss weapons.
I did the same thing with the jellyfish. I chose the jellyfish due to the lower fp cost, but found enemies kept blocking its attack and swapped back to the wolves. Also I think the earliest memory stone is from a merchant at roundtable hold.
@@harrycunliffe1914 no it's not sooner you can buy the memory stone immediately in the game. The turtle castle is quite far from the start relatively. Depending on which way you go of course.
@@amatesamaru gonna have to disagree. you can’t get to round table hold immediately at the start of the game. You either have to visit several sites of Grace that are outside of the eastern area of Limgrave you start in (as in, Grace sites that are in the unmapped areas beyond where you start- 3 total I think if you haven’t beaten Margit), beat Margit, or otherwise break the sequence of the game so that it flags you as having “gotten past” Margit in order to get to Roundtable Hold. The spirit turtle tower is pretty close comparatively when you think about all the traveling you’d have to do for the Grace sites, leveling your character and fighting you’d have to do for Margit, or whatever else you’d need to do to make the game THINK you’re past Margit. Trust me. I’ve done both of the first two options and done the spirit turtle thing both times - far, far quicker to get your first memory stone from there.
I haven't gone to the first legacy yet and I'm at the round table and all I did was go to a church and teleport to the red area and then I was summoned to the round table also a tip I learned, buy the no skill ash and a equip it to the shield and then the sword ash will become the priority which is awesome in one-handed
Some bosses require less aggression or just using ranged attacks. A good example of this is the sentinel outside of the capital. Better to let a special spirit take the damage for you. You can get one at the stranded graveyard in the starting area where you open the area with stonesword keys.
Weapon skills never go away once you have them and the whetstones you can find are what you can use to change the scaling, at no point do you have to do fire damage with a fire ash of war
yeah lots of just complete misinformation in this video, also states roderika moves to roundtable hold after margit.... it's after godrick which that incorrect info had me waste a shitload of time porting back and forth wondering wether my game was bugged til i looked it up elsewhere
@@zeening if you explore stormveil at roderika’s request you can find an item near the grafted monster that will progress her sidequest early and get her to roundtable. But yeah the info in the video is still wrong.
Yeah I believe you do need to meet her and exhaust her dialogue options. After that you need to either defeat Godrick get the item and go back to her. Or explored enough that she will go to round table on her own. I haven’t beat Godrick yet but she is at my round table and I have about four or five of the map pieces plus a lot of sites of grace found. Not sure which area actually caused her to go to round table but think it might have been lake liurnia.
The walking mosiliums dupe rememberances so save them. I think there’s an equal numbers of mosiliums as remeberances but I’ve seen 4 and still not fully explored yet three are in the zone after godrick.
It doesnt matter if the cpu controlled allies die during the boss battle, its killing them outside of combat that causes problems. Its been like that in every souls game
Well no some character in souls games need to survive the battles in order to appear further in the game just like Dark souls 2 Lucatiel of Mirrah or that onion guy in almost every game.
a smart thing i notice a lot of people overlook is macro binding items used often. like the donkey calling whistle. on the right side of option in inventory, you'll see where you can bind them to d pad ^ + Y button. i bind the donkey and my waist lamp to it, since i got tired of accidentally drinking estus every time i meant to call the donkey. also ,the waist lamp is overlooked by many, why ever carry a torch, when you can accomplish the same lighting effect, without taking a inventory slot?
12:05 you can clone remembrances right? Once per giant turtle building. You can find one early game in south limgrave if you want to get both of godrick's thingies
Yes, but remember you can only copy each one, one time, per turtle. No matter that amount of new games. This is a character bound choice. So for example, if you used all of them to copy godrick's rune, it would be impossible to get his rune besides beating him on a new game+
Yeah getting aggressive really does help, the fight with godrick had me defensive at first but the more aggressive I was the easier it got, same with the crucible knight gaol fight
The bloody slash on the uchi is pretty sweet, reminds me of bloodborne chikage and outside the hp loss it's pretty spammable damage is awesome it uses less FP but again the hp loss makes it a gamble. The spin slash is also really good at causing bleed for me since you're attacking a bit faster than normal.
I've been digging the holy ash of war (the yellow blade he was using) you basically double your damage during its duration, but you'll be a bit weaker during normal attacks
HP loss is negligible for the amount of damage it gives (atleast early game? i don't know how it scales, and my uchi is only +5). I fucking love it, it just "feels" right on my Samurai.
1.) you can only summon phantoms in specific locations. this is indicated by the purple headstone symbol right above your weapon crossbar whether this is an area that you can summon in. so if youre trying to summon but the ashes are greyed out on your crossbar, that is why. 2.) definitely get into adding status effects to your weapons like poison, bleed, rot, frost, etc. they can and will add TONS of bonus damage when you put enough hits in. some effects do damage over time while others will just take a chunk of hp off the enemy after a few hits of filling their effect gauge (like what you get when youre being poisoned before youre actually poisoned). i know for a fact that rot and poison do damage over time, and bleed can be super op when the weapon is upgraded enough. 3.) those cookbooks are EXTREMELY important. you can craft items like pickled fowl feet that give you bonus runes upon slaying an enemy for a duration and magic grease you can tip your weapon with to deal status effects as discussed in tip 3. 4.) there are two types of magic spells - sorcery and incantations. sorcery scales with intelligence and can be cast with a glintstone staff, incantations scale with faith and can be cast with seals. i think (?) you can purchase either of those from the twin husk ladies at the roundtable. 5.) Torrent, your horsey friend, has a health bar. you can craft rowa raisins to restore his health and if he dies, when next you try to use the whistle, you will be required to spend a crimson flask to revive him. so like, treat him well pls
I got to lvl 40 before fighting godrick. Worth it, it was still quite hard. Took a few tries. The allied spirit summons don’t do that damage sadly, but they’re great for taking aggro from you. Edit: if you go and get Luthel the headless, the boss does get quite a bit easier. Luthel is easily one of the strongest spirit summons in the game and you can get her before fighting godrick iirc. At max level she can even solo some of the bosses later in the game.
I was getting my ass kicked at level 30 so I pulled up some online maps of the starting area and I've been doing side stuff I'm level 44 now guess I'll try em again time to put em down
I upgraded the wolves and some skeleton soldier ashes and it helped a LOT to soak up more hits. At lvl 1 the Jellyfish is the tankiest, but with upgrades the other ashes aren't too bad.
Skeletons can take agrro forever because if they go down you can kite the boss for a few seconds and they come back. Only boss it doesn't work on are DoT bosses.
Oleg can take down a fair amount of bosses on his own and you can get him right at the start of the game if you take the unlocking knives as your starting gift. That's what I did, no regrets.
When you are riding your horse, if you hold R2 or L2, depending on the weapon, you can drag through enemies and hit the last one in line when fighting multiple enemies or one large one.
the Mad Pumpkin summon is incredible too, although if you're not careful some of his massive AOE dmg CAN hit you but he'll solo entire packs of small enemies lol, Oleg too is amazing for spamming AOEs and i got both both before margit so not too hard to get
no. 9: not getting gud jokes aside if you're really struggling with a boss, don't be shy to summon other players, it's a game mechanic lol, dont let anyone say it's cheating or whatever, it's part of the freaking game lol

At 10:00 my Ghost Turtles have spawned in completely different locations than you mentioned. One of them took me over 20 minutes to find, eventually I've located him hugging onto the tree behind the tower. He was pretty high so had to look up to find it. Another one was on the shelf below, right side of the tower. They have few spawn points so be aware.
You can duplicate the remembrance at the roaming rock turtles temple in case you want both the boss weapons but the temple can be used only once for only one remembrances, so choose wisely. One turtle can be found near SeaSide ruins in South Limgrave
A tip for beating Margit, the once imprisoned. Find a cave midway up the river north of the lake outside the start of the game. Fight the boss in the cave and mid way he will surrender. Stop attacking and let him live and next time you return to the boss room he'll be a vendor. In it he sells Margit's Shackle. This is a tool that locks the boss for a few seconds giving you breating room and time to get in free hits. For those like me who was gated by Margjt for hours at end this will help, a lot.
@@amatesamaru This vendors sells a cookbook that gets you the crafting recipe for golden feet. If you did kill the vendor you'll have a +8 spear in your inventory. If not he does change locations twice and is needed to unlock a unique weapon later in the game. Found that out yesterday.

I slept on the Jellyfish too, then tried it because I didn’t have many summon options and I was blown away. It’s a fantastic summon for how easy it is to get.
I just kind of starting wandering around Limgrave when I stated out. I spent the first 15 hours or so just playing around in the many caves and stuff in the area. By the time I got to the castle, I was lvl 60, so I had a pretty easy time with it.
Lvl 60 in 15h just exploring around before going castle? Like how, that's tons and tons of runes already. Did you do some special farm or something? I am just curious.
level 60 in 15hrs just "playing around in caves" is literality not possible. Youd need to farm it, like im 30hrs and lvl 60-70ish from just exploring at an average pace, not farming, havent spent longer than 30mins on any specific fight.

A tip for new players who are constantly being told to get good but don’t really have anywhere tangible to start. Choose a boss that is parryable like Margit or the crucible knight. They can both be killed easily and quickly with only ripostes. Learn how to parry all melee attacks (usually u can’t parry magic attacks/ huge flying attacks/ aoe’s) in the fight you chose inside and out. Just by paying attention to what boss movement equals which attack is incoming, in order to parry it, spacing and dodging will take a backseat in your brain and become more instinctual and second nature. It might take you 500 deaths literally, but when you are done, and you get a no damage (even 1 or 2 hits taken is an impressive feat) parry only on that boss, you will instantly look at your next hard boss fight in a different way. I almost guarantee you will approach the fight with the main intention of not taking a single hit in the run that you finally kill him. Instead of just surviving it. The fights in this game are clean and orderly as opposed to chaos of bloodbornes large beast fights, or sekiros Friday night funkin timing games. It’s a great way for beginners to get used to learning how to recognise animations, spacing, timing and hopefully the patience it takes to die hundreds of times in order to do the task well. Or just watch tyrannicon and learn how to cheese your way through the parts you can’t do.
I never parry in any souls game because I suck at it, and get by just fine. You’re making the game sound like work by saying you should die over and over again to bosses practising parrying.
As someone who has never played a souls game and is on the fence about getting Elden Ring, this comment only makes me want play the game less. Who has the time to die 500 times on a single boss fight?

I know you all are being like "you must and so on" but its a real pain for someone not following guides and purely playing to escape that bit when u have nothing to actually deal with those ranged mfs. Its to be totally avoided if u are sitting with 8-9k runes that early in the game and are thinking of opening this innocent little chest after wiping a whole camp. I can bet almost none of you commenting here found that grace without dying or looking it up.
There are different types of Whetblades that allow you to have a different scaling on your weapons apart from the ash of war you want to equip. For example there is one I got in Stormveil Castle that allows me to have a heavy attribute and scaling on my weapon even though I have a flame ash of war equipped to it. Love it so much because with the right inputs the ash of war reminds me of Sekiro!
@@demonintellect9834 I personally forget, but according to the wiki it says "Where to find Ash of War: Flaming Strike: Redmane Castle, dropped by a Teardrop Scarab in a small graveyard along the south cliffside behind the castle. From the front gate, hug right along the cliff towards the ballista, going up and past the vampire bats. There will be a small gap in the cliff that must be jumped across to get to the graveyard." I came close to beating Godrick the first time I walked in there. The next 12 attempts were straight ass whippins. Did some exploring, came back with a friend and it still took about 5 tries. The mandatory bosses are definitely tough. Optional bosses seem to be pretty balanced and easy enough. World enemies are definitely easier than previous games. I can’t wait to start seeing the videos of people who’s first souls experience is Elden ring and then they play some actual souls games. They’re going to be in for a big treat because they’re nothing like Elden ring in terms of being this easy. Love the series though. And I hope Elden ring has some huge dlc and a follow up to this new brand. I love open world games. Especially when they have a great story and it’s not regurgitated bs like liberating outposts or some nonsense like that.

Hey just to let everyone know that even if the npc dies in the boss fight they won't die in the story line (ik this because sorcerer rogier died while I was versing margit and he still showed up in stoneveil castle)
You can always just remove the new ash of war on your weapon if you like the default ability better, I've tried multiple things on my uchigatana and just removed them to get unsheathe back if I didnt like them
Note: You can actually duplicate the remembrances at the Walking Mausoleums (the big ass bell turtles) to get everything from the Remembrances. As my knowledge goes you can duplicate used Remembrances too, but I might be wrong about the latter.
I think you mixed up „two handed“ and „dual wielding“ (the latter meaning carrying a weapon in each hand). The two expressions are not interchangeable. But still good, informative video, thanks.
Tip for getting scaling on uchigatana but keeping the unsheathe ash of war. Southeast of Agheel Lake, northwest of the Agheel Lake South grace you can find one of the glowing dung beetle things. From what I can tell, you will do the same damage if you apply the unsheathe ash of war and keep it standard, but gets stronger if you pick the proper scaling. I'm not sure if any other weapons share this, but it's something to keep in mind just in case.
You do *NOT* have to beat any bosses to unlock Roundtable Hold and Spirit tuning. If you go around Stormveil and rest at the first Site of Grace in the next area you will unlock RTH. As long as you've spoken to the girl at the shack, she will be there.
One thing I don't think you mentioned that I'm sure the comments will point out is that you can find these walking castle things with bells under them where you can get another boss rememberance and im pretty sure you can also duplicate your boss rememberances as well, but i forgot how to do that.
⬜⬜Regarding the ashes of war⬜⬜ You get the Whetstone knife in the gate front ruins which allows you to freely add and remove ashes of war. You won't lose your ashes or weapon skills by adding them to weapons|shields so experiment freely. There are also 8 Whetstone knives that add different things like elements or status damage

You can duplicate that remembrance, I stumbled upon a girly walking building with a bell hanging underneath. Hit a certain amount of the skulls and the legs will start to crumble (be sure to run away as I learned the rubble falling will kill you) then enter the building when it digs itself into the ground. Also keep in mind as I read from one commenter that there are a limited amount of places that can duplicate those and are time uses each.
I didn't even know you could summon an NPC to help you fight. I was stuck on Margit for hours trying to solo him. Went and got the jellyfish, summoned Rogier, and I was finally able to down him in just a few attempts, literally decreased the game difficulty by 3x.
Another thing that helped me too is the first dungeon you can use the stonesword key at right before you head into the open world, has a talisman that boosts your health, stamina, and equip load. The equivalent of dark souls FAP ring 😂 all you gotta do is just drop to the secret area and run and get it and boom.
The character that helps with godrick died during his boss fight with me and she was waiting at the round table hold after the fight. I continued her quest line from there. Not sure if it changed anything but atm she is downstairs in the hold telling me she needs a minute. ( this is long after that first fight and I’ve had several interactions with her throughout the world )
The Main Mistake I have seen is that Huggy Lady Fia at Round Table if you accept her hug you get a Blessing that Increases your Poise but while that is active in your inventory before you use it your max HP is reduced by 5% Indicated with a Red Square and a Down Arrow Icon below your Stat bars on Top Left of the Screen. Either don't Hug her or if you do be aware you will be at 95% HP until you use her blessing in a fight which you can go back and accept the blessing again as many times as you like. (It's a Double Edge Sword thing)
I've cleared 3 of the main bosses and didn't know about activating great runes! I'm sure like 10 NPCs have told me about it and I wasn't listening closely enough....or it says it on the rune? Going to check that out tonight.
I haven't had an NPC helper die in a boss fight yet...however, I have in many Souls games before this one (all of them). The only thing that happens is it says they have been defeated and they dissappear. The boss fight still continues until one of you are dead.
A thing that i didn't see u show was that , u can use an ash of war that u can purchase of shields , ones specificly allows u to use the skill of the swords with one hand directly instead of having to wield it with both hands to do it. The one selling it is the same one u showed in ur vid its quite handy if u just use it on the early best shield that gives 100 phisical defence. thanks by everything else rhat i didn't know tho hehee❤
fyi 12:07 you can duplicate your power of rememberance if you find the walking bell tower hit its legs and it will become a place where you can duplicate them in the south. that way you can get both of the boss items.
Hey, good content but I found the footage too spoiler heavy for a tips video, if you aiming it at games at the start of the game, why would you use footage that's even after limgrave?
So far the rememberances haven't been suited to my INT/DEX Samurai Sorcerer. Big stuff for strength, faith and arcane builds If you have been in this situation I suggest pushing the Ranni quest forwards to get to the ruins on Liurnias inaccessible southern plateau. You get a big INT scaling sword that is much more suited to magebois.
You can actually get both weapons from the remembrance. All you’ll have to do is find the turtle bell with the mausoleum on its back, bring it down by hitting the white skulls either on its legs or on its back. Once it’s down, go inside and duplicate the remembrance and you’ll be able to purchase both weapons at the roundtable.
There’s only a limit amount of turtles so be sure to pick and choose which remembrances you want to duplicate

There is no consequence if the champion npc's die at the boss battles, they still appear and reward you at the roundtable hold. Also they can help you farm the area before fighting the boss if you take them with you for farming around their summon sign. I used this in particular to help speed up farming items sets that I wanted.
Do they award you if you didn't meet them before the boss?

7:00 The default Ash of War is not gone when you replace it.
All you have to do is use the Ash of War you replaced it with on another weapon and it will remove it (so as to put onto the other weapon). The game then grants you back the weapon's default Ash of War (for eg. Unsheathe for Uchigatana) so there is nothing lost.

The no SKill shield art is good if you use shield but don't care about any shield arts, it will allow you to use your right hand weapon art without having to two hand. Blood slash and unsheathing without having to two hand a weapon is clutch!
Definitely! That was making me crazy with the shields I had in the start. Hard to do the unequip mid combat for some sweet unsheath action sometimes. There's one for sale in the swamp area after the Stormveil castle if you follow the road and look for a bonfire on your left, you can get there without actually doing the castle if you can't wait, by finding a passage on the east side of the castle.
yeah. on my samurai I have the turtle shield and talisman with no skill on it, so I can use keen unsheathe with the shield out
Barricade Shield will let you block almost anything, which creates tons of guard counter opportunities even against bosses. Guard Counters are BROKEN!!!
Yeah, and isn't there an ash of war for no skill shield? Meaning you can apply that to your favorite shield.
Brass shield is a good early game shield, has 100% phy block and no skill and can be farmed at the first gate grace where you get the horse
You dont need to defeat margit in order for rodrika to go to the round table, you can go around the castle and down the cliffside in order to unlock the grace early as hell. I did this on accident but theres a broken bridge beneath the castle, follow the path to the wolves (i suggest avoiding them they are insanely strong early on) and just after them look down the cliffside, theres messages that will guide your descent. Once you get to the site of grace marika will take you to the round table and you can do this at any point in the story. 😬
Yep, that's true. I have Rodrika doing her thing at the Roundtable place, and haven't even tried fighting Margit yet, so I knew that bit of Khraze's video wasn't true, though I wasn't sure why.

Yeah I haven't even looked at Margit. Just ran down that path with Torrent, passed up all the wolves and unlocked the roundtable with no fuss. Have spent all my time so far just slowly exploring and getting a feel for things before I touch any bosses, you can find a surprising amount of cool stuff.

If you go to the Deathtouched Catacombs, the boss drops a talisman that gives health for critical attacks. It's not a ton of health, but early on before you get better gear, it helps with being aggressive since you can often recover the health you might lose trading hits.
Likewise, the tower of return in the southern map takes you to a giant.
If you run past you can grab a Talisman that grants HP regen.
While its not a lot, its passive and you can easily just sit in a corner for 20 seconds instead of using flasks.
@@gittonsxv126 that health regen talisman works like the items in the previous games that worked the same. if you rapidly equip and unequip the talisman it will continually give you HP back. its tiny but in a pinch where youre caught somewhere and out of estus it can help
That talisman it's good for multi-player only thats way you dont use your estus. The 1st part of the game invest on the sacred tears there are like 5 scattered across limegrave easy.

A little tip, you can double every Remembrance by bringing it to a walking mausoleum.
Just hit the glowing stones at it's legs until it falls down. You can do one Remembrance per mausoleum.

@@seanbennett1137 there's only 3 walking Mausoleums in the entire game, So you can only get 3 of the dupes so choose wisely. I recommend beating the entire game before you use any of the Mausoleums, so then you can duplicate for you NG+ playthrough and have some cool gear.
One of the masoleums does not have the skulls on the legs. They are located around the masoleum's entrance and requires you to get on top to do so.. thankfully the creature wanders into a wall where there are platforms to jump onto it.

If what you're saying is legit, then there's 4. 2 in the second are on the right side of the map near the physical bodied Horn people and I can't recall where the third one i found was, but it had a bell. All 3 of those I took down by hitting the legs. Lmao, the first one I jumped on top before taking it down. I tried to open the door and it started jumping while my character was in stuck in the animation and I clipped inside it and couldn't get out.
On the other hand, playing overly aggressive can often get you killed. Especially against enemies that you can't interrupt easily. Experiment. Don't stick to one playstyle if it isn't right for your current fight.
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
Words that are SO damn important when playing any FromSoft game.
Biggest mistake I see a lot of people doing is investing in your damage stat of choice too early, when you first change an ash of war on a weapon the base dmg goes down and you rely on the scaling to overcome and surpass that deficit. The thing is weapon scaling starts off pretty terrible and it's not until around B scaling that your weapon will be on par with what its base would be. Usually around weapon tier 4-5 on regular upgraded weapons 3-4 on somber. Other than stat prerequisites to use the weapon you are much better off investing in your core first. Vigor and Stamina and Mind if a mage or otherwise heavily fp dependent.
Then start leveling your corresponding dmg stat as your weapon starts hitting its stride where you can then change the ash of war towards the scaling you want.
Most of this is true except when you go mage there's an s tier int staff that you can use until end game. It also boosts gravity spells. Extremely powerful, im level 50 and still one hitting most non boss enemies with my starter Pebble spell. I've been mainly leveling intelligence hardly anything else.
@@amatesamaru Sorta of an exception to the rule in that the staff innately starts at s scaling while nearly every other weapon has to upgrade towards it.

If you put a ash of War on a weapon you don't lose its previous one. you are able to remove it, just go back in like you're going to add another one and there's an option to remove the current one.
Blood uchi is wayyy better than normal depending on your build, bleed does like 4k damage to bosses

An important note, getting the ash items doesn't allow you to summon the spirits by themselves. You also require a 'Spirit Calling Bell' which you get by returning to the Church of Elleh at night(?) after getting the horse. Speak to the lady sitting on the north wall of the church.
Using ashes of any kind is a HUGE benefit introduced in Elden Ring for solo players. They can only be used if you are not summoning other players, but ash summons do not increase the HP of a boss like gold phantoms do.
I had trouble with that. I thought since I wasn't actually a mage build I wouldn't be able to summon. Turns out you just gotta wait for that icon in the corner of the screen to pop up. It's location sensitive and alot of people don't know that it seems

I thought it was the progression route lol. I’ve played every souls game . Only games I bothered with platinum on PSN. FromSoft smacked me lol. I went and leveled up which is the only thing that I kinda feel should be a bit more attainable in this particular game. Now getting the right gear and upgrades. H3ll yeah awesome! Oh. Big thing maybe people need to know. You have to buy the consumables to ‘SEE’ co-op help at bosses etc. I spent the first 2 days changing my online settings thinking I did something wrong. It sucked. I haven’t seen a article specify this 1 point
@@Bunny-Bones It's a From Soft game, so this didn't surprise me when I figured it out. There are always a lot of things that you would appreciate them telling you, but they don't. Then again, this isn't, as I said, surprising. They want you to go through the game, figuring it out. They teach you the basics, and those basics are all you need to play it, even beat it, but everything else is something you have to work out yourself.
And this game is one that also rewards going off the beaten path, as they want you to explore.

@@Bunny-Bones actually I think one of the crafting books from the merchant at the beginning with the anvil let’s you craft the fingers to summon players into your game. Even better they only take 2 erdleafs to craft so not hard to have enough whenever you need one.
Idk if someone already said this but you can get rodreika (upgrade summons girl) to go to round table hold before margit. You can also go back to the shack she was in originally for a golden seed.
And if you happen to not get a golden seed there if you talk to her when she sets up shop she gives you the seed there

Another tip, use mounted combat extensively to be able to ride away from difficult situations (specially for bosses that allow it). For example, Minor Erdtrees are easier on horse and enemies that overpower you in Liurnia East can be defeated using this method. Also, try going to the Siofra River early on after defeating Godrick, many useful items and a way around to Cairn are there.

Erdtree avatars are much easier on foot if you can roll, all you have to do is roll forward into its attacks.
Avoid using shields, they hold you back most of the time, make you put more points into endurance than needed and leave you very open when you run out of stamina.
Learn how to roll instead, then you can have a weapon in your offhand, specifically one that matches your main hand's weapon type, and you can double your damage instead of dying to lack of stamina, shields are more of a fashion souls thing for me. The guard counter is good, but its not reliable and later on it doesn't do much for you.
For a mage, that means having a melee weapon in your main hand and your staff in your offhand, better to have more options!
Also, for the Avatar's magic machinegun attack, you just have to distance yourself and sprint to the side once it starts raining on you, or use the horse to get away.
Rolling forward strategy also applies for the scarlet avatars in Caelid. You can avoid the rot stomp by staying close or behind the avatar.
All in all, the erdtree avatar telegraphs all of its moves A LOT, its very easy to dodge and I would recommend practicing dodge rolls on it. If you're wondering, you can use your coop sign near the stake of Marika near erdtree avatars to practice more after you killed it. Its an easy way to get rune arcs and you're helping other players in need.
@@northernsoul0127 an Erdtree is more of a silly example, but dragons are also easier on horse back, as well as mounted enemies in North East Liurnia, etc. But yes, I am playing a melee and crossbow character and it is quite fun to not use the horse sometimes, but the horse makes things oh so much easier and less prone to "controller damage", if you know what I mean. 😅
To add to this, being able to mount and unmount on a dime can save you from serious damage if you have it mapped to one of the hot keys.
@@Andrumen01 I get what you mean, I recently made a dual Ultra Greatsword build and to be honest that is probably one of the cheesiest builds you can make, also its a wizard, and both greatswords scale on intellect. Incredible damage, but slow, and everything staggers on hit.
There's a side path if you want to avoid Margit early on and move on and unlock some stuff first (You don't have to Defeat Margit to get Ashes upgrades). Don't worry about NPC summons dying, they'll still be around (2 characters in Round Table confirmed). Uchigatana's Unsheath is a basic Ashes you can find early on, and "replacing" it doesn't hurt it. You can always give it back Unsheath, for free. Just pick your enchanted Uchigatana, select the Ashes of War you placed on it and select "Undo Enchantment". For the 3 turtle, if you can't find the 3rd turtle check the trees.

I replaced mine with the bleed effect ashes and it’s OP, using a shield with it too so just slash slash, guard counter and everything just gets rekt
@@shadowxhero4953 so you have to go to the ramparts there’s a big dude like the very first boss (the one that kills you and then you start the game) and in a room at the back there’s a pile of bodies, a giant hung up on a meat hook and some dogs. Kill the dogs and there’s a not for the crystalids. You have to make sure you’ve spoke to her a bunch of times in the shack where she is (just before the main gate into the castle) ..hope this helps!

FYI to use the power of a great rune you have to use a rune arc that will give you the buff of the great tune till u die For example Godrich’s gives you +5 to each one of your stats when you use it

@@Quang1999 the best analogy is to think of Embers or Humanity from other souls games but split into 2 pieces. The main piece (the great rune itself) is the non-consumable, infinitely usable part that you equip and get different things depending on whose rune it is. But in order to get the benefits of that rune, you require the second part: a Rune Arc. That is the consumable item that goes away when you use one, but then the boss’s rune itself will give you the benefits until you die. And you can get all the rune arcs you could ever need from an NPC in round table hold
Remember to visit the Churches to upgrade your Flask potential. Make or break when it comes to using one or two.
Mine was +5 before Margit and in the save i had deleted beforehand, I had 8 charges i think. They really want you to explore a shit ton before progressing the story.
the reanimated militiamen are incredibly powerful, they keep coming back to life as long as they dont get hit when they're dead. SUPER useful on many aggressive bosses

the mad pumkinhead guy is awesome too, with no upgrades on his final attack chain does like 300 dmg and can tank bosses for AWHILE, and solo packs of small enemies with all of his AOE it's awesome, Oleg is a beast too spams Spinning Slash seemingly without any regard for stamina or cooldown lol
U dont have to defeat margit to unlock the ability to upgrade the jellyfish!!! All u have to do is speak with the girl and unlock the round table location and u can get that done right away it was the first thing i did!
Can I still get the jellyfish if I didn't exhaust her dialogue the first time and now she's at round table hold?
@@makaiokalahama im not sure. I spoke with her at the shack the 3 times when i first found her and i did that before unlocking the roundtable. After i got the roundtable, she was there and I finished her questline. Then u go back to where she was sitting at the shack for a surprise.

The Summons depends on who your fighting, if your fighting a boss with minions the Wolves are usually more helpful to take aggro from the minions.
If the boss is just one tough mofo then the jellyfish is definitely worth considering as it can tank for you.
Also you can duplicate the boss rune's and get both boss weapons, take down the massive turtle things and inside you can duplicate the boss rune.
Jellyfish is really bad, can die in one hit. I recommend you Lhutel, is an incredible tank, for the bosses is one of the best. You can find in the south island, in the Tombsward Catacombs. It's relatively close to the starting place, you don't need a big advance to get it.
@@Zekushion6 You're missing the point, it's worth switching up your summons depending on the fight. There is obviously going to be better tanks than the Jelly Fish but its a good starter.

There a summons called mimic tear you can get, it creates a copy of the player(spells and all). It also very tanky, can heal it self, and do good damage.
I used skeletons and I think they are better than wolfs, because they can respawn and tank more dmg
I am using the imps and they have really helped me they can help stack bleed to do some really good damage.
Duplicate that remembrance first at a walking cathedral, when you find one just knock the skull barnicles off their feet for a bit and they will stop walking and lay down, you can only duplicate one remembrance at each walking cathedral but eventually you'll come across another area with three of them stomping around
For new people at Souls games only: to do the back stab move that looks so cool, sneak up real close, like on their coattails close, and then tap R1, don’t hold it. If you tap too early it won’t do it. Standing on their heels close is my tip.

As someone who started with DS3 where you had to hold left click, it took me a bit to realize that DS1 only required tapping it. Tapping was a bit more convenient but the only reason you need to hold it now is for PVP reasons because in ds1 you could tap left click and just backstab someone from some distance away.
BTW No need to defeat Margrit to upgrade ashes with Rodricka.
Yeah if you talk to her before you get to the roundtable, she’ll show up there. And you can probably just fight a side boss or two to get her there otherwise

You have to use a Rune Arc to activate a great rune, you do not get its bonuses passively. You equip which great rune you want to use at a grace.
@@BlobFGC it does not. I had 13 dex on base, and with the godric rune with power i coud not equip a weapon with 14 dex requirement, so no boost at all.

The bleed Ash of war on the katana is much better than the normal unsheath imo. You aren't slowed to a halt while holding it, and the bleed has much better range which makes spacing against bosses and landing hits for those that move away much easier

You can find a whetstone to equip any scaling with any of the basic weapon arts. There’s also ones like the magic whetstone that let you put magic and frost scaling on any ash of war.
You missed one.
Take the um “Boss Soul” to the walking tombs. Destroy the crystals on its feet. It will then sit down allowing you to go in.
You can then double the boss……”Soul” allowing you to get both boss weapons.
I did the same thing with the jellyfish. I chose the jellyfish due to the lower fp cost, but found enemies kept blocking its attack and swapped back to the wolves. Also I think the earliest memory stone is from a merchant at roundtable hold.
You can do the turtle tower memory stone sooner and it’s free!

@@harrycunliffe1914 no it's not sooner you can buy the memory stone immediately in the game. The turtle castle is quite far from the start relatively. Depending on which way you go of course.
They can't block the jellyfish attack as it is a poison or bleed attack. Perhaps you just didn't notice it
@@amatesamaru gonna have to disagree. you can’t get to round table hold immediately at the start of the game. You either have to visit several sites of Grace that are outside of the eastern area of Limgrave you start in (as in, Grace sites that are in the unmapped areas beyond where you start- 3 total I think if you haven’t beaten Margit), beat Margit, or otherwise break the sequence of the game so that it flags you as having “gotten past” Margit in order to get to Roundtable Hold. The spirit turtle tower is pretty close comparatively when you think about all the traveling you’d have to do for the Grace sites, leveling your character and fighting you’d have to do for Margit, or whatever else you’d need to do to make the game THINK you’re past Margit. Trust me. I’ve done both of the first two options and done the spirit turtle thing both times - far, far quicker to get your first memory stone from there.
I haven't gone to the first legacy yet and I'm at the round table and all I did was go to a church and teleport to the red area and then I was summoned to the round table also a tip I learned, buy the no skill ash and a equip it to the shield and then the sword ash will become the priority which is awesome in one-handed

especially when you can R2 directly after blocking with your shield and do a move that stuns enemy most of the time for a critical attack.
Some bosses require less aggression or just using ranged attacks. A good example of this is the sentinel outside of the capital. Better to let a special spirit take the damage for you. You can get one at the stranded graveyard in the starting area where you open the area with stonesword keys.

Weapon skills never go away once you have them and the whetstones you can find are what you can use to change the scaling, at no point do you have to do fire damage with a fire ash of war
yeah lots of just complete misinformation in this video, also states roderika moves to roundtable hold after margit.... it's after godrick which that incorrect info had me waste a shitload of time porting back and forth wondering wether my game was bugged til i looked it up elsewhere
@@zeening if you explore stormveil at roderika’s request you can find an item near the grafted monster that will progress her sidequest early and get her to roundtable. But yeah the info in the video is still wrong.
Yeah I believe you do need to meet her and exhaust her dialogue options. After that you need to either defeat Godrick get the item and go back to her. Or explored enough that she will go to round table on her own. I haven’t beat Godrick yet but she is at my round table and I have about four or five of the map pieces plus a lot of sites of grace found. Not sure which area actually caused her to go to round table but think it might have been lake liurnia.
The walking mosiliums dupe rememberances so save them. I think there’s an equal numbers of mosiliums as remeberances but I’ve seen 4 and still not fully explored yet three are in the zone after godrick.
It doesnt matter if the cpu controlled allies die during the boss battle, its killing them outside of combat that causes problems. Its been like that in every souls game
Well no some character in souls games need to survive the battles in order to appear further in the game just like Dark souls 2 Lucatiel of Mirrah or that onion guy in almost every game.

a smart thing i notice a lot of people overlook is macro binding items used often. like the donkey calling whistle. on the right side of option in inventory, you'll see where you can bind them to d pad ^ + Y button. i bind the donkey and my waist lamp to it, since i got tired of accidentally drinking estus every time i meant to call the donkey. also ,the waist lamp is overlooked by many, why ever carry a torch, when you can accomplish the same lighting effect, without taking a inventory slot?

Yes, but remember you can only copy each one, one time, per turtle. No matter that amount of new games. This is a character bound choice. So for example, if you used all of them to copy godrick's rune, it would be impossible to get his rune besides beating him on a new game+
Yeah getting aggressive really does help, the fight with godrick had me defensive at first but the more aggressive I was the easier it got, same with the crucible knight gaol fight
The bloody slash on the uchi is pretty sweet, reminds me of bloodborne chikage and outside the hp loss it's pretty spammable damage is awesome it uses less FP but again the hp loss makes it a gamble. The spin slash is also really good at causing bleed for me since you're attacking a bit faster than normal.
I've been digging the holy ash of war (the yellow blade he was using) you basically double your damage during its duration, but you'll be a bit weaker during normal attacks
HP loss is negligible for the amount of damage it gives (atleast early game? i don't know how it scales, and my uchi is only +5). I fucking love it, it just "feels" right on my Samurai.
As much as I like the sheathe skill, bloody slash is whole different beast on the uchi.
1.) you can only summon phantoms in specific locations. this is indicated by the purple headstone symbol right above your weapon crossbar whether this is an area that you can summon in. so if youre trying to summon but the ashes are greyed out on your crossbar, that is why. 2.) definitely get into adding status effects to your weapons like poison, bleed, rot, frost, etc. they can and will add TONS of bonus damage when you put enough hits in. some effects do damage over time while others will just take a chunk of hp off the enemy after a few hits of filling their effect gauge (like what you get when youre being poisoned before youre actually poisoned). i know for a fact that rot and poison do damage over time, and bleed can be super op when the weapon is upgraded enough. 3.) those cookbooks are EXTREMELY important. you can craft items like pickled fowl feet that give you bonus runes upon slaying an enemy for a duration and magic grease you can tip your weapon with to deal status effects as discussed in tip 3. 4.) there are two types of magic spells - sorcery and incantations. sorcery scales with intelligence and can be cast with a glintstone staff, incantations scale with faith and can be cast with seals. i think (?) you can purchase either of those from the twin husk ladies at the roundtable. 5.) Torrent, your horsey friend, has a health bar. you can craft rowa raisins to restore his health and if he dies, when next you try to use the whistle, you will be required to spend a crimson flask to revive him. so like, treat him well pls

I got to lvl 40 before fighting godrick. Worth it, it was still quite hard. Took a few tries.
The allied spirit summons don’t do that damage sadly, but they’re great for taking aggro from you.
Edit: if you go and get Luthel the headless, the boss does get quite a bit easier. Luthel is easily one of the strongest spirit summons in the game and you can get her before fighting godrick iirc. At max level she can even solo some of the bosses later in the game.
I was getting my ass kicked at level 30 so I pulled up some online maps of the starting area and I've been doing side stuff I'm level 44 now guess I'll try em again time to put em down
I upgraded the wolves and some skeleton soldier ashes and it helped a LOT to soak up more hits. At lvl 1 the Jellyfish is the tankiest, but with upgrades the other ashes aren't too bad.
Skeletons can take agrro forever because if they go down you can kite the boss for a few seconds and they come back. Only boss it doesn't work on are DoT bosses.
Oleg can take down a fair amount of bosses on his own and you can get him right at the start of the game if you take the unlocking knives as your starting gift. That's what I did, no regrets.

When you are riding your horse, if you hold R2 or L2, depending on the weapon, you can drag through enemies and hit the last one in line when fighting multiple enemies or one large one.
Not enough stats in endurance and health! You should get those points up too 40 as soon as you can. Or at least 20, depending on your class!
Aurelia is my favorite summon ever! You forgot to mention she is also good for dark areas since shes so bright it's like a moving fighting flashlight
the Mad Pumpkin summon is incredible too, although if you're not careful some of his massive AOE dmg CAN hit you but he'll solo entire packs of small enemies lol, Oleg too is amazing for spamming AOEs and i got both both before margit so not too hard to get

Game has been out two days…
At 10:00 my Ghost Turtles have spawned in completely different locations than you mentioned. One of them took me over 20 minutes to find, eventually I've located him hugging onto the tree behind the tower. He was pretty high so had to look up to find it. Another one was on the shelf below, right side of the tower. They have few spawn points so be aware.
You can duplicate the remembrance at the roaming rock turtles temple in case you want both the boss weapons but the temple can be used only once for only one remembrances, so choose wisely.
One turtle can be found near SeaSide ruins in South Limgrave
A tip for beating Margit, the once imprisoned.
Find a cave midway up the river north of the lake outside the start of the game.
Fight the boss in the cave and mid way he will surrender.
Stop attacking and let him live and next time you return to the boss room he'll be a vendor.
In it he sells Margit's Shackle.
This is a tool that locks the boss for a few seconds giving you breating room and time to get in free hits.
For those like me who was gated by Margjt for hours at end this will help, a lot.

This vendors sells a cookbook that gets you the crafting recipe for golden feet.
If you did kill the vendor you'll have a +8 spear in your inventory. If not he does change locations twice and is needed to unlock a unique weapon later in the game. Found that out yesterday.

I slept on the Jellyfish too, then tried it because I didn’t have many summon options and I was blown away. It’s a fantastic summon for how easy it is to get.
I just kind of starting wandering around Limgrave when I stated out. I spent the first 15 hours or so just playing around in the many caves and stuff in the area. By the time I got to the castle, I was lvl 60, so I had a pretty easy time with it.
Lvl 60 in 15h just exploring around before going castle? Like how, that's tons and tons of runes already. Did you do some special farm or something? I am just curious.

level 60 in 15hrs just "playing around in caves" is literality not possible. Youd need to farm it, like im 30hrs and lvl 60-70ish from just exploring at an average pace, not farming, havent spent longer than 30mins on any specific fight.

A tip for new players who are constantly being told to get good but don’t really have anywhere tangible to start.
Choose a boss that is parryable like Margit or the crucible knight. They can both be killed easily and quickly with only ripostes. Learn how to parry all melee attacks (usually u can’t parry magic attacks/ huge flying attacks/ aoe’s) in the fight you chose inside and out. Just by paying attention to what boss movement equals which attack is incoming, in order to parry it, spacing and dodging will take a backseat in your brain and become more instinctual and second nature. It might take you 500 deaths literally, but when you are done, and you get a no damage (even 1 or 2 hits taken is an impressive feat) parry only on that boss, you will instantly look at your next hard boss fight in a different way. I almost guarantee you will approach the fight with the main intention of not taking a single hit in the run that you finally kill him. Instead of just surviving it. The fights in this game are clean and orderly as opposed to chaos of bloodbornes large beast fights, or sekiros Friday night funkin timing games. It’s a great way for beginners to get used to learning how to recognise animations, spacing, timing and hopefully the patience it takes to die hundreds of times in order to do the task well.
Or just watch tyrannicon and learn how to cheese your way through the parts you can’t do.
I never parry in any souls game because I suck at it, and get by just fine. You’re making the game sound like work by saying you should die over and over again to bosses practising parrying.
As someone who has never played a souls game and is on the fence about getting Elden Ring, this comment only makes me want play the game less. Who has the time to die 500 times on a single boss fight?

You should actually always try and explore these areas as it's a great way to get items early on
I know you all are being like "you must and so on" but its a real pain for someone not following guides and purely playing to escape that bit when u have nothing to actually deal with those ranged mfs. Its to be totally avoided if u are sitting with 8-9k runes that early in the game and are thinking of opening this innocent little chest after wiping a whole camp. I can bet almost none of you commenting here found that grace without dying or looking it up.
There are different types of Whetblades that allow you to have a different scaling on your weapons apart from the ash of war you want to equip. For example there is one I got in Stormveil Castle that allows me to have a heavy attribute and scaling on my weapon even though I have a flame ash of war equipped to it. Love it so much because with the right inputs the ash of war reminds me of Sekiro!

I came close to beating Godrick the first time I walked in there. The next 12 attempts were straight ass whippins. Did some exploring, came back with a friend and it still took about 5 tries. The mandatory bosses are definitely tough. Optional bosses seem to be pretty balanced and easy enough. World enemies are definitely easier than previous games. I can’t wait to start seeing the videos of people who’s first souls experience is Elden ring and then they play some actual souls games. They’re going to be in for a big treat because they’re nothing like Elden ring in terms of being this easy. Love the series though. And I hope Elden ring has some huge dlc and a follow up to this new brand. I love open world games. Especially when they have a great story and it’s not regurgitated bs like liberating outposts or some nonsense like that.

Hey just to let everyone know that even if the npc dies in the boss fight they won't die in the story line (ik this because sorcerer rogier died while I was versing margit and he still showed up in stoneveil castle)
It's not a big deal to replace unsheathe, you are able to take off whatever ashes of war you put on and go back to unsheathe anytime you want.

I think you mixed up „two handed“ and „dual wielding“ (the latter meaning carrying a weapon in each hand). The two expressions are not interchangeable. But still good, informative video, thanks.
Tip for getting scaling on uchigatana but keeping the unsheathe ash of war. Southeast of Agheel Lake, northwest of the Agheel Lake South grace you can find one of the glowing dung beetle things. From what I can tell, you will do the same damage if you apply the unsheathe ash of war and keep it standard, but gets stronger if you pick the proper scaling. I'm not sure if any other weapons share this, but it's something to keep in mind just in case.
Thx that last tip wasn't so clear for me, I knew I had to search for a tower but didn't know it was the 1 in the starter zone
You do *NOT* have to beat any bosses to unlock Roundtable Hold and Spirit tuning. If you go around Stormveil and rest at the first Site of Grace in the next area you will unlock RTH. As long as you've spoken to the girl at the shack, she will be there.

One thing I don't think you mentioned that I'm sure the comments will point out is that you can find these walking castle things with bells under them where you can get another boss rememberance and im pretty sure you can also duplicate your boss rememberances as well, but i forgot how to do that.

The Great Runes are not passively active, you have to spend a rune arc to gain the effect.
⬜⬜Regarding the ashes of war⬜⬜
You get the Whetstone knife in the gate front ruins which allows you to freely add and remove ashes of war. You won't lose your ashes or weapon skills by adding them to weapons|shields so experiment freely.
There are also 8 Whetstone knives that add different things like elements or status damage

You don't need to beat Margit to get Rodrika in the roundtable. She has a quest line that eventually gets her there.

@@coopstain1728 hey man, take it easy. This game is very vast and full of secrets that even the most informed UA-camrs haven’t figured out yet. Everyone makes mistakes, also every UA-camr is trying to create content and get the info out as fast as possible, this game is one of those that can fool people like Khraze into thinking they see the whole picture, we are all still learning about this game, I understand your frustration but please don’t lash out on the creators.

You can duplicate that remembrance, I stumbled upon a girly walking building with a bell hanging underneath. Hit a certain amount of the skulls and the legs will start to crumble (be sure to run away as I learned the rubble falling will kill you) then enter the building when it digs itself into the ground. Also keep in mind as I read from one commenter that there are a limited amount of places that can duplicate those and are time uses each.
I didn't even know you could summon an NPC to help you fight. I was stuck on Margit for hours trying to solo him. Went and got the jellyfish, summoned Rogier, and I was finally able to down him in just a few attempts, literally decreased the game difficulty by 3x.
7:30 you can put a unsheath ash of war in a uchi gatana in order to make it scale better with dex(keen weapon) though
Another thing that helped me too is the first dungeon you can use the stonesword key at right before you head into the open world, has a talisman that boosts your health, stamina, and equip load. The equivalent of dark souls FAP ring 😂 all you gotta do is just drop to the secret area and run and get it and boom.
The character that helps with godrick died during his boss fight with me and she was waiting at the round table hold after the fight. I continued her quest line from there. Not sure if it changed anything but atm she is downstairs in the hold telling me she needs a minute. ( this is long after that first fight and I’ve had several interactions with her throughout the world )
The Main Mistake I have seen is that Huggy Lady Fia at Round Table if you accept her hug you get a Blessing that Increases your Poise but while that is active in your inventory before you use it your max HP is reduced by 5% Indicated with a Red Square and a Down Arrow Icon below your Stat bars on Top Left of the Screen. Either don't Hug her or if you do be aware you will be at 95% HP until you use her blessing in a fight which you can go back and accept the blessing again as many times as you like. (It's a Double Edge Sword thing)

I've cleared 3 of the main bosses and didn't know about activating great runes! I'm sure like 10 NPCs have told me about it and I wasn't listening closely enough....or it says it on the rune? Going to check that out tonight.

I haven't had an NPC helper die in a boss fight yet...however, I have in many Souls games before this one (all of them). The only thing that happens is it says they have been defeated and they dissappear. The boss fight still continues until one of you are dead.
How do you parry or block when you are wielding a faith/spell caster item in your off hand? Atm my only defence is roll.
Well your item needs to have the skill known as parry to parry but for spell castor i highly doubt you would be too close to the enemy
A thing that i didn't see u show was that , u can use an ash of war that u can purchase of shields , ones specificly allows u to use the skill of the swords with one hand directly instead of having to wield it with both hands to do it.
The one selling it is the same one u showed in ur vid its quite handy if u just use it on the early best shield that gives 100 phisical defence. thanks by everything else rhat i didn't know tho hehee❤
fyi 12:07 you can duplicate your power of rememberance if you find the walking bell tower hit its legs and it will become a place where you can duplicate them in the south. that way you can get both of the boss items.
Hey, good content but I found the footage too spoiler heavy for a tips video, if you aiming it at games at the start of the game, why would you use footage that's even after limgrave?
So far the rememberances haven't been suited to my INT/DEX Samurai Sorcerer.

If you have been in this situation I suggest pushing the Ranni quest forwards to get to the ruins on Liurnias inaccessible southern plateau.
You get a big INT scaling sword that is much more suited to magebois.
You mean the Moonveil katana? If so thats what im using now and it's AMAZING for my spell blade.
