i've been fucking with ubers way more than ou this gen. it feels like it fits the gen better. tera is still busted but when everything is obscene its not as bad
Not just Groudon. The whole weather trio is just immune to powercreep thanks to how strong weather abilities are (and Rayquaza getting the best flying move in the game)
Politoed received drizzle in BW2 and it auto sprang up into the top tiers of OU so it's not that surprising that a weather ability has a tremendous impact on a metagame
I thought you were gonna talk about the famed Ubers Legendary Pokémon Groudon, as the title suggested. But instead, I got a video dedicated to Groodon. I’m not ok with this level of clickbait.
Kyogre and Groudon are always nice to see in Ubers. When everything you know and love has been turned upside down by new obscene threats, they are always there to bring some measure of stability to the format. I hope they return every generation.
Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza will always be the coolest legendary duo/trio in pokemon. The way they all fit with each other -with kyogre and groudon always fighting and rayquaze stopping the fights - is pretty nice.
Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza set the standard for good series legendaries. We see this concept repeat in Gen 4, 6, and 7, while others have tried to put an abstract spin on it in Gen 5, 8, and whatever 9 is.
I'm not surprised to see Groudon still good despite Koraidon around. I always thought this would be the case because Groudon's a ground type and gained wisp. I'm glad that was the case because I love this mon
It's because Koraidon doesn't outclass it at everything it does. And auto-weather is inherently powerful and it borders into absurd when there's stats and movepool to back it up.
I have always thought of Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza as a certain level above normal legendaries, some of the most useful pokemon of all time; really, weather abilities make them into more than just a single team slot, they're reversals, win conditions, enablers and when then they're also incredibly strong by themselves. I consider them amongst the greatest pokemon of all time.
It's shocking just how much healthier Gen 9 Ubers is compared to the respective generation's OU. The amount of options in Ubers these days are seemingly endless. Lots of older Ubers like Groudon, Kyogre, and Origin Giratina still continue to see use too!
I'll be honest, I did not expect groudon to perform as well as it does this gen after losing its strongest fire move in Heat Crash and its sweeper sets losing rock polish. But despite being weaker than its primal counterpart, its physical bulk still holds up very well and checks a lot of Pokemon, tera only makes it better too.
Groudon is great because it still has a very unique role in terms of type and ability in Ubers.... Even among other high BST ground types, Groudon is one of the few Pure Ground types with the only other high BST competition being Arceus and Silvally Unlike the various dragons, it remains unchallenged in it's role
I feel like he's mostly good because attackers #1 and #3 in the meta (Miraidon and Zacian) are both checked by groudon, with #2 (Koraidon) setting the sun Groudon's team wants whenever it switches in
The second of hesitation to pronounce Groudon the intended way was really funny because I could tell you had to think about it You're the goat for pleasing the fans 🙏
I would love to see a video talking about mewtwo's role in gen 9 ubers. It was genuinely surprising to find out it'd landed in the A- tier on the viablity rankings
I think its fair to have made that annunciation mistake for so long considering they did the same in the pokerap, and so many more people did the same with "Ray-quah-za"
I hope the Red Orb and Blue Orb get added back into Scarlet and Violet in the DLC. Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre would look so good with the more detailed SV models.
Groudon and Kyogre just have the perfect stats to play offensively or defensively. They (or, formerly, their Primals) have been and always will be Ubers staples and at worst high-tier picks just because they’re so incredibly versatile. That’s why they’ve remained good forever, while Rayquaza has struggled a little more in more modern Ubers formats; Rayquaza has all the offense in the world on both ends of the spectrum, sure, but it doesn’t have the amazing defensive utility Groudon and Kyogre have.
They’ve really been cracking down on stall this gen, haven’t they. The PP nerfs to recovery, many Pokémon losing toxic, and it also explains why Groudon’s status move is really just meant to cripple, not kill. Also Ubers is ironically a meta that has many options since Game Freak is committed to power creep, you have a lot of legends to choose from now. The SV cover legends are obviously great, but Zacian is still broken despite their nerfs, Arceus remains a Pokémon that can do anything, Groudon and Kyogre both have been popular choices, the list goes on and on.
Im so glad to know that the big dino Groudon still able to do well, always used to people just immediately bringing up kyogre with rain teams being better, ignoring groudon's own capabilities
Primal groudon is still my favourite "broken" mon. Gen 7 ubers was my favorite ubers meta (havent experienced much of gen 6 ubers). I love centralizing single pokemon that are uber flexible while not being necessary. I see p-groudon similar to t-tar in gen 3. Undisputed best mon of the tier but not broken. Glad to see groudon doing well still
I do like how there's some contrast with how these two sun setters have different ability interactions with their box rivals. Kyogre and Groudon both set a weather effect and one will override the other, so one will always be weakened when in a 1v1, while Koraidon sets weather and Miraidon sets terrain, both able to exist with one another, meaning they always fight each other at peak power.
People would also say Groodon at my school, but that's cause we were Norwegian, and we struggled with English pronunciations. We would also say Kaiogre.
The way you pronounce Groudon is same as how my friend and I used to pronounce it back in elementary when we first played pokemon and neither of us knew english well lol

Unless we see something big happen to this game. I don't think Raid would age well like Groudon.

kind of weird that Ubers of all things has been more healthy and consistent than OU this generation

As a marketable groundon plushie myself, this video is very informative and I am a gamer so you do some fact checking.
I always thought that Groudon being a GROUND type representing the GROUND of the world, would be pronounced just like GROUND but omitting the N...
It is, a lot of people (including me) just grew up pronouncing it groo
It is said that way.
I used to pronounce Kyogre as “kai-ogre”
@@RedRockin6 I'm... pretty sure that's actually correct phonetically?
@@RedRockin6what do you say now?

Groodon 💀
I wish Groudon was in gen 9 but at least his cousin Grewdon is putting in work.
At first, I didn't like Jim's pronunciation, but tbh, it has really Groudon me

What a tremendous payoff at the end when he finally said groudon the way the good lord intended. Masterful pacing
I think Koyoger also plays games in his down time. Has a pretty impressive retro game collection. He’s currently saving up for a dreamcast I think.
groudon indeed aged like fine wine.
I mean, Groudon and Kyogre have pretty busted abilities and stats to back them up. Giratina-O gets by on its typing and stat distribution.
