People just don’t realize how much work goes into cutting up a big old tree like that..my good buddy cuts down trees for a living and he works hard but he loves it!
I milled 4 planks yesterday with my Echo 18 inch chainsaw. Only 4 planks with the chainsaw mill and my back was sore. My best friend owns a tree service too and you're right, they work really hard but love the work.
True store! Took down a 68” ABH burr oak last year. Took 2 12 hour days to finish that up. 140 foot tall got almost 8 cord of wood from that tree. She was a monster
My first job was block packer in a small mill here in the Kootenays, I was 13 and they taught me how to run a chain saw with an 070 Stihl, and a 090 Stihl. I had to hook my toes into the handle and handle bars, hold the pull cord and stand up to start those saws, but I did start them. lol. From day one I was in love with chainsaws, and now 40 years later I still love chainsaws, I play with them, and work with them, build and repair saws, but for the life of me, I have never been very good at tuning a carb!!! Agree 100%. It really screams with the barkbox. Nice pickup in the low end too. Love my 462. Just wish I could fine a wrap handle for it that doesn't cost 155 bucks on ebay.
The 500i is by far the best saw that Stihl has released in my opinion. At first, I didn't like it, but after a week of using it every day in the brush I've come to love it. Mine had a break in period of at least 10 hour run time then it completely opened up. From what ive read other people said the same thing. Out of the box til now it's a completely different saw. Give it a chance you will enjoy it. The thing I like the most about it is the consistency it gives you. The power is always there which is where fuel injected shines in my opinion. Surprisingly I haven't felt like I've needed more power and I've put it in some very big wood.
Drop it and see how it runs. Just bouncing around in a truck bed has required us to bring our “electronic tuned” saws back the dealer repeatedly at $60 a pop. They have to plug them in and reflash/update the tune.
@@stevefrazier2214 naw man I totally get where you're coming from. I get it. Luckily I haven't had that problem. I always take extra good care of my tools and equipment though because that's an extra expense that can be prevented by taking the extra time out. Fuel injected saws has alot of room to be improved upon but I think it's the potential gold standard. I'm not a believer in battery powered when it come to heavy usage. The 500i is an outstanding new platform to build off of though.
@@moose1164 we have had the battery powered top handle huskies since they came out, 5+ years? The saws and the batteries have outlasted any gas top handle I’ve ever owned. A husky rep shocked when we told him how old they were and joked about needing to do something about that...you probably know gas are rated for a certain amount of hours of use. We currently have 5 battery saws, including the new version. We no longer own a gas powered top handle. We grab a 50cc gasser when the top handles are not enough. @@stevefrazier2214 oh I agree. I like the battery top handle saws for climbing but I've ran into limbs that a battery powered couldn't finish the job. "Stihl" holdin' on to the 461's. I've fell, bucked and blown up a few. Still love em. The 462s and the 500s have just felt too damn "squishy" I've yet to try one with the after market motor mounts so I can't rightly disapprove. As far as the Bark Box goes... well, absolute must have. West coast is killing it with them things. Buckin' has sparked hope in me for the 500i for sure. I'm just not sure if it's just his "contagious positivity" or not. Take care Buckin'. You're a damn legend.
Modern Scandi' saws are made with a firm sight on complying with hand-arm vibration figures hence the squishiness. You wouldn't believe the lengths European employers have to go to to comply with regulations. However, the way the 500i is set up the daily exposure limits are similar to a saw two cc classes lower.
@@longlowdog I understand why they're squishy. It just doesn't work for cutting in the Pacific Northwest. I don't care about vibration. It's a great saw. I just want to run it with the stiffened up 661 mounts I've heard you can use.

Right on Jeff Wilk! Giver! Honestly and self awareness freind😃 started my day feeling grateful gonna keep riding that wave. It was seeing your message that set me straight😌 thanks for you👍
Billy Ray, one thing that happens with these computerized saws is they "learn" from the throttle demand and the actual engine rpm as to what the load is. If throttle demand is 100%, but engine rpm is low, then the system can add more fuel to compensate. Sometimes this process takes a couple cuts to allow enough data for the computer to make the adjustments. It doesn't happen with a single quick cut under heavy load because then subsequent cuts will be too rich. If you're doing big cut after big cut, it'll start to dump more fuel in. If you switch back from Buckin' to Limbin', you may detect less power when you then jump back into a heavy load cut.
As a track hoe operator been laying pipe for over 20 years , I see a good operator handling them logs . It takes confidence and skill to grapple a log while the man is in the process of cutting a tree like that . 👍🇺🇲🪕 . Great job
Getting her done as always. Hell...... give everybody a camera, and fly a drone. Put some drum rolls it there, maybe some cow bell. Mix it up a little Bucking. That camera in this on is good when that hinge broke. I could almost smell it. Very good!..
I have had the 500 i since 1 year ago, and it is fantastic, the power to weight ratio is the best, if someone is thinking of buying a new one, with similar characteristics, I recommend it, it is money well spent

Hay buckin. I run the 500i for 2 years it a monster saw but I have a lot of problems with a lot of part from the saw every week if I have a broken part most of the time it's the brake claw. I can feel that the saw is light built but the parts are also ligt and not strong built.
you'd be one of the rare ones with issues. Madsen's has sold hundreds so far, no issues. I know they were out in Europe for a long time and they were working out the bugs, maybe what you have?? Cheers :)
Not to put any one down.. Can't make everyone happy however I am the kind of guy to listen and take notes.. Sthil fan. Maybe I missed it but is it dumb little stuff braking or more important stuff like harder parts. As buckin was saying the casings may not hold up as long ext. Dumb stuff that brakes to me is stuff the saw could run (maybe not for long) with out like plastic covers ext.. I am an automotive geared kind of guy so,again if I am missing something please forgive me.. I do have a 2 Sthil saws (MS 311 & MS 461) and both have there uses.
I've seen 3 brake handles go in about the same spot on different saws. Maybe the weak link but disengage it by hand or with a scrench and you're good to go, just remembered you only have an inertia break at that point
I had to get out of bed as soon as I saw the title. I'm not a professional arborist (yet) but I got myself a 500i a few months ago (here in Europe they're available "over the counter" :D). it's brutal. absolutely aggressive acceleration. most of the times starts on the 2nd pull (from stone dead), never had more than three pulls though (not even the first start!). the only downside is the filter system. you have to fabricobble something together to keep it chip-tight because in stock form it isn't quite - there are two openings to the filter where chips/dust can get in, one is the main opening (which is tight) and the other is the one that the cam engages the cover.
@@jirusjirus9322 no worries. I fixed mine by adding a rubber "washer" over the filter-housing-cover cam-nipple where it locks on (by cutting a piece of bicycle inner-tube to size). it's definitly tight now, not letting any particles through. did the same around the "main" hole in the filter, just a ring of rubber around the housing fixed it completely. also, now the cam locks on more positively (not hotdog-down-the-hallway-style like stock)
Love to see Buckin' smiling while running a Stihl for a change! Maybe we got him hooked with this one. That saw is wicked, it was falling through the wood. Wow!

Your creativity and innovation are truly inspiring.
had one 18 months.
absolutely awesome.
use it all day almost every day.
needs modification on lightweight bar to enable more oil,
chain stretches early before adjustment is at max .
other than that its awesome
Your creativity and imagination are boundless.

@@ferrallderrall6588 hahaha love it!!!
Excellent channel. You have a way of talking to your viewers that is genuine and extremely informative. I am subscribing because I believe I will be entertained and informed along the way. As someone who considered bragging about moving from a 16 to an 18 inch Stihl I now will just keep my big mouth shut. Thanks again
You have a remarkable ability to work well under pressure.
Awesome video - I love my 500i . I am by no means a pro like you - but I love the saw. Really looking forward to all the things that are coming to the channel. Thank you for the video.
I want one but I'm disabled oh how I wish I could afford one
I've been using a 55 super wiz homelite bow saw the 500 looks a lot faster and safer to me
You have a natural ability to connect with people and make them feel valued.
The 500i sounds like a power House. It has my attention. I don't hear a hic up anymore. Great Video Buckin. Wish I had an Axe like that.
Bunch of men getting lit over their passions😁 🔥
Jeff Wilk bah hahaha😅 good to hear from ya! Masonary, is that your line of work?
Jeff, Thats a tough job. I hope you were able to stay grateful?🙂
Right on Jeff Wilk! Giver! Honestly and self awareness freind😃 started my day feeling grateful gonna keep riding that wave. It was seeing your message that set me straight😌 thanks for you👍
The MAN takes pride in his work! Nice to see.
You have a natural ability to connect with people and make them feel valued.

As a track hoe operator been laying pipe for over 20 years , I see a good operator handling them logs . It takes confidence and skill to grapple a log while the man is in the process of cutting a tree like that . 👍🇺🇲🪕 . Great job
You have a genuine and infectious love for life.
Getting her done as always. Hell...... give everybody a camera, and fly a drone. Put some drum rolls it there, maybe some cow bell. Mix it up a little Bucking. That camera in this on is good when that hinge broke. I could almost smell it. Very good!..
definitely needs more cowbell...
Oh boy. Years back I almost got a mac 125. I ended up feeding my kids(Hahaaahhhhhh!). Sweet mac Buckin'! Loves u all and the Buckin' Army!
Killer video and amazing work ethic.
Loved the beginning when he tosses up the saw in the air, that gave me quivers... And to have it fall back down with the bar and handle... Hilarious
You have a natural ability to make people feel heard and understood.
Watching you run that Stihl 500i was awesome. That really looks like one of the kings of power saws. Pretty cool. 👍👍👍❤️
Your ability to think outside the box is truly remarkable.
That's the quickest bar and chain install I've ever seen 😂
I think I could maybe pull the cart saw--if I put my foot on it! 😉
You have a remarkable ability to stay focused and on-task, even in the face of distractions.
I have had the 500 i since 1 year ago, and it is fantastic, the power to weight ratio is the best, if someone is thinking of buying a new one, with similar characteristics, I recommend it, it is money well spent
Love the 500i! I've always been a Husqy man, but a good friend and collegue of mine, said I should try his 500i out. So I did. That was the most expencive thing I did that day! I ended up going down to my local saw shop and buying one and a 32'' bar with it! Love your videos Billy! Keep up the good work!

THANKS NICK PIXEL FOR GIVING THE OPERTUNITY FOR BUCKIN TO SHOW US THIS SAW AND CONTENT THANKS BUCKIN THIS IS AWESOME ,MAYBE ONCE YOUR 371 BREAKS IN AND GET THE 500 SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON THANKS BUDDY BE SAFE AND EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT DAY
I wanna see that also!
@@theironhorse6600 YOU BUILD ONE HECK OF A SAW BUDDY THAT 371 WITH THAT EXHAUST COMBO SOUNDS WICKED GREAT JOB HARVEY HAVE A GREAT DAY BUDDY HOPE YOUR FEELING BETTER MY FRIEND
Just bought a 500i AWESOME saw! I highly recommend it if you fell for a living ☝️
Hay buckin. I run the 500i for 2 years it a monster saw but I have a lot of problems with a lot of part from the saw every week if I have a broken part most of the time it's the brake claw. I can feel that the saw is light built but the parts are also ligt and not strong built.
Sure dnt feel as solid as the older stihls does it?
you'd be one of the rare ones with issues.
G'day Stihl fan what part of the world are you in that's the question?
I've seen 3 brake handles go in about the same spot on different saws. Maybe the weak link but disengage it by hand or with a scrench and you're good to go, just remembered you only have an inertia break at that point
Good to hear the 500 gets a thumbs up..Gives me confidence to buy one..not cheap..
That 500i is definitely one angry Beaver!
Good job the yellow saw beautiful
Been waiting for this video, glad to finally see it.
Good to know...
Thank you for your observations
Wow!
I’ve run em all and I’ll take a stihl up here cutting big Appalachian hardwood 👍🏻
Your passion for your work is truly infectious.
i love rewatching this episode , its awesome
Best saw I ever bought hands down
I'm a husqvarna guy but that 500i actually sounds good and cuts awesome

Great saw Buckin Billy!.. You can run them big saws! Have a great weekend!..
I knew you'd like the 500i. She sounds a little warmed up for sure, but they still cut really nice stock.

Dear Buckin, thank for you all the work that you put into your content. I think that this is one of my favorite videos that you have made. And yes I'm a stihl guy as well, but I do like seeing the old school saws as well. God Bless, keep cutting and Semper Fi my friend.

Your intelligence and knowledge are awe-inspiring.
I’ve been thinking about upgrading my 372 to a 500i... I think I’m sold now!!!
You won't be sorry!!!
I did exactly this mate I have my own ported 372 it's. Lovely saw but got a ripper deal on a 500i and I'm sure impressed with it really shines when I'm climbing and blocking down the extra power and less weight goes along way after 6 hours.
I hope U keep that 372 yet. That will be the best saw U ever own
I just got husky 372 it’s so great used the all the knowledge I get off these videos to land trees and everything else great videos
Wow... nice catch Buckin'!! :)
I LOVE the Bark Box from WCS. They are super people/family owned company and its a QUALITY product. I run them on all my Stihls.
