Amara has grown more mature since season 11. Her trying to open Dean's eyes about Mary being beyond the myth made her and attempt to take away Dean's anger is very kind.
She is the wisest of them all, in my opinion. She perfectly illustrates the counter balance to Chuck. Here's another that not many notice- she represents the more adult qualities and Chuck, the childish ones.

At this point if I was Amara, I wouldn't trust anything he says, even the whole furious thing. Winchesters weren't the best option to trust. Chuck was manipulative but at least he needed her to survive, if one of them goes down, so does the others, so that's a reliable insurance. Winchesters on the other hand though, they just wanted to save their world, and if Amara became a collateral damage, so be it. Sure they would try to prevent that but they would definitely put the world's safety before hers, so what's the point of trusting him?

Well... He did have a chance at killing her and he chose to reunite her with her brother.
He acts like he can let something happen to her but I get a feeling that when he looks at her it all comes back together.
They are still bonded, that never changed. It wasn't just a thing as he describes it.

Dean and Amara complement each other as they are both each other weaknesses. Dean, the ultimate killer, unable to kill the primordial being of darkness because of a bond even he doesn’t want to break. And Amara, the primordial being of darkness, so powerful that even God fears her but easily swayed by the mortal man that freed her. They truly deserves each other.

It would of even been cool if, they actually SAVED Amara from Chuck at the end. An Jack making her human, and Dean and Amara finally being together, with a family like Sam did in the end.
At this point they don’t have the bond anymore, they were “bound” in season 11 because he freed her, but at the end she released him from it because she realized what she really needed was her brother.

It's crazy how small and insignificant Dean and Sam is compared to the "woman" sitting across from them. We simply see a woman, but her very existence can literally rip the universe apart.
God and Amara aren’t really two beings. They are one haft of a singular force that is formed from themselves. Sure each haft has an individual self but aren’t meant to be separated. They are suppose to be in harmony co-existing in one form for eternity. But when God cast her away and built the world he had to built himself as just another of its inhabitants. In doing this it made his Death Book. As he caused the possibility of something or one ending his immortal life.
I love how Dean is able to unsettle even cosmic beings when he gets that look in his eye.
So glad Amara is actually back and will help

This conversation wasn't really about power it was about emotion and connection. Sure, Amara could have destroyed Dean and both of them knew that, but Dean wasn't threatening her, he was trying to connect with her as one being to another and appeal to her emotionally.

This whole scene doesn't make sense. Amara said she wanted to give Dean a gift, not teach him a lesson. Anyone familiar with Dean's history would know that he saw Mary as a source of strength and comfort. (Dead in the Water). Dean having happy memories of his mom wasn't hurting anyone. It seems cruel to rip that away from him. To tell him that the one person who he thought loved him unconditionally, didn't. It feels like the writers knew they screwed up with Mary's character but can't admit it, so just made up and retconned stuff. I've read these exact words on Tumblr. Pure Mary apologia and throwing Dean under the bus.
Technically it was a gift and a lesson. Before Mary came back dean was empty you can feel how sad and empty he was. Mary came back and you can feel him changing. So technically she gifted him with her while teaching him the lesson that she’s only human.

Actually it makes kind of sense. Jensen said once in an interview that he didnt understand why dean needed mary the most like amara said and than he read the script for the episode which he tells her he hates and loves her and said: ahhhhhh.
Mary being back was for dean to move on. Since she dyed when dean was a kid dean just couldnt move on. He understood his fathers desire for hunting. Sam never did because he never knew his mum. This dean now is the only dean who could maybe not be a hunter. All the other deans never could let go.

This scene has done a lot of retconning to stuff they said earlier in this season, in 15x02 chuck called amara big sis, now amara said they are twins, in season 11 amara said that chuck created humans and angels, and he locked her away with the help of the archangels, so obviously he created the angels first then locked her away, now amara is saying that when her and chuck got separated when he locked her away, that was the big bang that created everything, so angels shouldn't have existed before that, they made it all so confusing.
The twins thing is definitely a retcon, but the universe(or multiverse) could still have existed, it’s just that it was empty(before God created other beings). And it’s not like the second after they split, he locked her away.

Another retcon, Amara stated she did not know who Death was. The leviathans were also suppose to be created before the angels also.
Honestly, they should have had two episodes literally explaining the origin of everything. The Empty, Amara, Chuck, Death along with the other horsemen, angels, leviathans, pagan gods, fairies and their realm and what not. I think the series just started to create things as they went along.
Wow. What Amara said actually makes a lot of sense. But more importantly, it really lends a hand in perspective. To negate Dean's point, he simply doesn't understand how the system works. But more importantly, there is actually another solution that he hasn't really considered. Talk to Chuck. Change the ending of their stories.
But, geez, Amara was so understanding and wise.

@@chronicler6162 well, i wouldn't really say he doesn't have legit excuses. I have several hypotheses to fill in some blanks, but that can get pretty long. None of which follows along the BS theory that Chuck isn't really God. They pretty much fall in line with the whole- "they're still not going to like it anyways" scenario. It's really more about accepting.
But i will say one thing. Their perception of free will is flawed and incomplete. Amara wasn't kidding when she said that they don't understand how things work.
As for Chuck creating new versions, very doubtful, given they've done things that can't be replicated, and are just too exceptional. More likely, he'll try to find something else to be entertained by.

Actually she should be furious after knowing, that she stuck in chucks Story too. It must her realize that the reason why she was in the cage was for chuck Story and the things what chuck said to her was all lies. This whole season was so bad written.
Supernatural finale was diss appointing... No other character aside from Sam and Dean had a proper ending. Yes Bobby had a little but barely. So Amara didn’t get a proper closing, Crowley was left in the empty, Castiel didn’t have a reunion with Dean or Meg. So many great characters and were all left stranded with eternal suffering. Most of all what the heck happen with the empty, the one villain they didn’t have a conclusion either.
Also the whole god and jack was just terrible. They could have made a twist so they can all co exist. I understand Covid was an issue but not even a mention was done.

Death is the true villain, she wants to be the only cosmic entity in the universe, God is just a spoiled child who doesn't care about anything, like ours if it existed.
Death gives meaning to life. God (in the show's interpretation) is bored of his creations and intimidated by them. The Darkness is trying to balance whatever her brother creates. The Shadow is tired of everything waking him up and when it deals with God, his creations and the Darkness are filling in the void. How is Death the bad guy when she's trying to simply survive?

Dean: Literally rips a guitar from God's hand, smashes it, and yells at God Himself. (Thankfully, Dean realized seconds later who he's yelling at and tighten right up).
Dean: Punched God in the face and talks down on Him.
Dean: Keeps knacking at Amara in this scene and assumes she won't smite him.
So what ? Them being overpowerful cosmic beings doesn't mean they deserve his respect, as they have proven countless times by now. After all, they keep playing games with each other getting humans killed for no other reason than their family dramas. Imagine if a human could smite a few hundred angels every time they get in a family fight !
Dean respects those who show him they deserve it, and if he tries to manipulate them it's for a reason, not because he is angry or bored. Besides him challenging them and not being afraid is probably one of the reason why they like/trust him a bit (like death, or Amara...).

wait, wai, wait i just re watched the scene from season 11 where amara and chuck leave and she never says that she wanted to "teach him something" she said that dean gave her what she needed the most and wanted to do the same for him , there is no deep meaning to amara bringing mary back as they said on this episode. She just thought it was a cool thing to do and that's it so... wtf? am i missing something?
no, this is a retcon, the writers really messed up the way Mary was written in s12-14 and ruined her character through their attempts at making her some sort of "I'm not just a mom" outdated feminist hunter when you know, you can be both! You don't have to run around with a gun to be a Strong Female Character and being a mother doesn't make her a weak character. So they're now rewriting Amara's motives for bringing her back to cover up their failings, claiming that was their reason all along.
I get that Amara wanted to release Dean from his anger by bringing back Mary into his life, that Mary would bring him some peace (although that is far from what happened because Mary ended up not even wanting to be in his presence half the time) but the whole "teaching Dean that she's a real human" doesn't make sense. In case anyone forgot, and I suspect Davy Perez didn't even watch that far back, Dean went back in time in s4 and discovered himself who Mary really was. He discovered she was a hunter, he watched as she made the deal with Azazel that set everything in motion. He saw Mary as a young woman with flaws, who made a tragic mistake in the name of love, to save John. No one on the show has ever said that Dean saw Mary as some kind of myth, that came from fan meta on tumblr, and the writers have co-opted it.
And that meta was always wrong, as I say he discovered the real Mary way back in s4 and also he remembered that things between Mary and John were not always perfect. The meta was written by a bunch of Dean hating fans who always love to criticise him and the writers have taken that on board.
After Mary came back, Dean never demanded Mary be a stereotypical mother, he didn't expect her to put on an apron and stay in the kitchen, he just wanted her to be in his life and care about him. She could have done that and still be a complex and interesting character but no the male writers were more interested in turning her into some kind of gun-toting "badass female" (which is a male ideal and as I say terribly outdated) and she ended up coming across as someone who didn't care that much about her own flesh and blood.
There were no lessons needed to be learned, all that was needed to Dean and Mary to build a son and mother relationship after decades apart. To get to know each other, but that's a two-way street and the writers made her into someone who just wasn't interested.
Oh and as some of my mutuals on twitter have said, even if Dean did have an idealised version of Mary in his memories to keep him sane and feel safe for all those years...so what? What harm was that doing? He lost his mother at the age of 4 and his childhood with her, lost his home, was forced into a parental role before he could barely spell, probably suffered child abuse, then as an adult he's thrown into this cosmic game of chess controlled by angels and demons, his family is torn apart, he goes to Hell for 40 years...can anyone blame him for clinging onto his childhood memories of his mother, from a time when he was genuinely happy and felt safe and loved?

The actors should not consider any kind of return or reboot because it will still be something 'directed' by the fans who are looking for something, something that they themselves can't agree on. Worse still the stupid writers don't appear to ensure the story flows from one season to another, from one episode to another.
I always loved how despite being the human personification of darkness and destruction, Amara is herself mostly a good lady! she also is very naive what with trusting Chuck and crushing on Dean! but it also breaks my heart cause she gets NOTHING but screwed over for her whole existence!

I was hoping in her growth and understanding that she could lead instead of Chuck. She seems far more even keeled. They can still trap Chuck. The mark of Cain, etc., I'm thinking was Chuck having story ideas and entertainment in that regard. She cares about Dean and starts embracing the world. Women are more temperate and compassionate than men. I don't want the show to teach that it's better to have faith in nothing. I think the last episode demonstrated that faith in anything is better than none at all when Castiel and Jack investigated a human crime. And the pastor and the kids in the show, despite his daughter going off the deep end, demonstrated that faith is still important whatever the faith may be.

I can remember my dad shouting panicked instructions as he, my brother and I were trying to round up a rattlesnake out of our house. It’s was a three Stooges level comedy when all of a sudden BLAM! No, this is canon. When Amara injured Chuck in Season 11, the Sun was starting to go out. It was made very clear that if Chuck died, the universe would die with him. This idea of balance is not new.

That said, the story of Supernatural is riddled with plot holes already. Chuck is supposedly been watching hte boys the whole time, and writing their story. So why would he allow Amara to be released? Seems like they didn't expect to have to bring God back for S15, so they didn't think that far ahead.
Amara says that she and God are twins, and their separation caused the Big Bang. But in S11, Chuck said that he started creating worlds, only for Amara to keep destroyed them. So he created the Archangels, who then defeated Amara, allowing him to trap her. THEN he proceeded to create everything.
TL'DR - The show has plotholes.

Love Dean, but he can be an asshole. He only likes anyone (Cass, Amara even Sam) when they do what he wants. Here he LIES to Amara to get her to cooperate. We already spent a whole season trying to kill her and it couldn't be done. However, with this being the last season, I believe ALL Supernatural things will pass away.

@@90CJk I think it’s highly unlikely Death can kill Amara with the scythe unless there’s something weird backing her up. Amara didn’t even know who Death was after she came back, meaning she predates the concept of death. Also, she’s entropy which is death on steroids.
I'm just confused how she can even be lied to. They share a connection and she's supposedly on par with Chuck. There's no way the writers would let her get easily manipulated like that. Also blame all the new crappy writers for Dean's personality and lack of growth. He was at the peak at season 5 where he learned to finally let go of Sam and let him make his decisions. All of their personalities were so much better before Kripke left and that's how I'll always see them. All this is just extra fan service because no one wanted the show to end.
@@demisaysstuff I agree with you, but Supernatural has a history of making someone invincible like Amara was for an entire season only to weaken them at a later point when the writers want them gone. Heck, they made Abaddon almost incompetent while fighting Dean with the first blade. The previously "unkillable" bad guy practically stood frozen and let him kill her.
Dean has no right to manipulate Amara. I hope they don’t kill her and likely just seal both God and Amara away together for eternity. After all just because it’s believed that killing them both will all creation to continue doesn’t mean there are not ramifications for doing it.
Dean simply doesn't understand the whole system. Neither he or Sam truly understand how free will really works. If anything, this season probably puts a spin on what it means to have perspective.
Dean manipulates everyone. If they don't follow his plans, he acts like their feelings are irrelevant. He's done that to Sam and Cass for ages. He treats Amara the same.

I think the show had its own principles and complied to them until a certain point. When Dean killed Death i stopped seeing SPN as a universe that can stand at its own feet and rather started to consider it as a tv show that has no respect for itself.
