    in this video i review the Kastaplast Stig. Its Flight numbers are 6/5/-2/1. This disc is basically the replacement to the Kaxe Z that they retired not long ago.

    I was sad to see the kaxe z get cut, but I do like the stig so far. Mine seems quite a bit flippier than my kaxe z, so I've been using it for long flip up shots to save my arm a bit. It feels like the thing just wants to keep gliding. I always like seeing your reviews! Keep em coming!

      Yea I think they are very similar but maybe stig is just a little more understable out of box. Conspiracy theory: Kastaplast started seeing the newer runs of kaxe z being different and couldn’t fix it lol new mold

      @@DaddyDelpDiscGolf Ha! Honestly the conspiracy kinda has some sense to it. I thought they were cutting the Kaxe Z along with the Grym X just to kind of like, streamline their molds, so they could make new discs instead of slightly different versions of existing ones, but I've since heard there's probably going to be a Berg X, so that kinda tosses my
      theory.

    I bag the Kaxe Z and have picked up the Stig to try it out. I think the Stig is just a rebranded Z. The flight numbers on the Stig are more accurate for the Z than the actual flight number listed on the Z itself. I'm getting identical flights. Both good discs.

      I’d say I would agree the numbers fit this disc better than what kaxe z did. Both are good discs, just confused me as to why it happened lol. I held the kaxe z and this stig side by side in exact same color plastic and I couldn’t tell a difference in rim 😂

      yeah, there were production inconsistencies on their old production line. they'd pour some discs when the molds were still cold early in the day, instead of preheating the molds to operating temperature. this resulted in a disc model+plastic being a crapshoot in terms of numbers. But if you were unlucky and got one of the bad ones, I'd ask for a refund and not speak too strongly about the numbers of that one (unless it were to voice disappointement/defect).

  • @meister-t
    @meister-t 10 місяців тому +2

    NO! the Kaxe-Z is a 6502, whereas the Stig is 65-21. Totally different slots. They couldn't be more different.
    Mind you, before they made some recent manufacturing changes, Kasta used to have some immense manufacturing inconsistencies/variances, so it's not impossible that you can find 2 different discs that fly similar, or 2 same discs that are extremely different.

      I reviewed 2 new kaxe z and they flew exactly the same. Flight numbers are not something I go by strictly, more of a guide and to me they flew the same though. But it is true that most the molds I tested from Kastaplast didn’t fly like the numbers would lead me to believe when I reviewed them. I reviewed grym and even though it had numbers I would have expected a more stable flight but the flight I saw was border line a roller disc lol.
      The 2 kaxe Z I personally threw, which are only ones I’ve ever thrown, would have had flight numbers of like 6/5/-1 or -1.5/1 if I was giving those particular ones flight numbers myself. Could have just been my experience. They went far. Actually think they were the farthest midranges throws I had ever had at time.

      I see. well, Kastaplast _did_ used to have a production problem: they'd start the morning without heating up the molds first, so you had some discs poured into a cold mold, others into a luke-warm one, and about half into one that was at proper operating temperature. For all their models, even in a same plastic, people were reporting extremely different results. I was lucky enough to get a Kaxe-Z that was exactly spot on the numbers, and it makes for a very handy headwind disc, or one fading even more reliably than a Roc/Roc3. If it feels similar to a Stig, it could be nice to have both still in production (but on their new production line, now using best-practices) as you'd have 2 discs that feel similar and complete each other quite nicely. @@DaddyDelpDiscGolf

    Okay, I will have to admit that the Stig which I really love is not quite Kaxe Z it is more understandable. I got the new Kaxe (retooled) it reminds me more of a Kaxe Z. It doesn't appear that they really replaced the Kaxe yet.

    • @DaddyDelpDiscGolf

      I mean when i reviewed the kaxe z i actually liked it better than a kaxe. But thats just my preference. And with stig I just got very similar feeling shot shapes and all.

    Kaxe Z has 6,5,0,2.. I have 4 of them now.. stacked up since they got cut..my favourite disc in the bag..havent tried the Stig but from what Ive seen it is more in the middle between Kaxe Z and Svea...

      I have K1 Soft for Kaxe Z...got myself a K3 and K1 aswell..I believe the soft is the most stable of them.. dead straight with a bit of fade at the end

    • @DaddyDelpDiscGolf
      @DaddyDelpDiscGolf  Рік тому

      I definitely would rank the stig closer to a kaxe z than a svea, personally. After reviewing all 3 of them. Svea was pretty under stable when I threw it. I could see it in the middle but definitely closer to a kaxe z but I will say that the two kaxe z I reviewed were borrowed so were not new, could have been a factor as well lol

      @@DaddyDelpDiscGolf my kaxe z k1 soft is dead straight with a little bit of fade.. and ive used it for 2 years and hit multiple trees.. will compare it to a new k1 soft, a new k1 and a minor used k3 to see... but mine never flips (unless headwind)

    So I'm wondering now if this is just another Mana?
    Lower armspeeds might be looking for a Leoard-esque disc that is more true to numbers, actually yielding -2 1 when thrown at speed 6.
    But a Mana, 5 5 -2 1 and true to numbers, can't really take speeds above that without turning over and being like a Svea or the (new)Wombat3. Is that also the case of the Stig?

    • @DaddyDelpDiscGolf
      @DaddyDelpDiscGolf  10 місяців тому

      Could be. The mana for me was pretty understable. It was a hyzerflip to turn. Was a really nice flight but was quite a bit different in stability than a pathfinder from tsa
