FAQ:
Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. It is in the province of Foggia in the Puglia region of southeast Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina enjoys making food for her family in the same old fashion ways as she was taught by her mother and grandmother in Italy, and also new things she has subsequently learned from family and friends in America. She also enjoys gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera and behind the scenes?
Grandma Gina’s retired son-in-law, Nick, does the filming, editing, production, and channel management. Her daughter, Maria, helps with food preparation, kitchen setup and fan support. Also, Grandma Gina usually has one or two grand-kids in the kitchen to help.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video! - Навчання та стиль
Signora Gina Rabbit is so delicious, people think its cruel but back in old days to have a piece of meat at the table was a delicacy. We had farm with rabbits, chickens, goats. Rabbits multiply so quickly that was the meat to eat. People might think it's cruel that was part of life. Rabbit meat tastes 100 times better then chicken. Thank you Signora Gina for this delicious meal you prepared. May God Bless You and Your Family Always. 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤🇮🇹❤️🇺🇸🙏🏼🙏🏼
I never understood why people think it’s cruel to eat one kind of animal, but not another. As long as it’s safe to eat, and it’s killed quickly and as humanely as possible, I don’t see the problem. People are too spoiled and sensitive these days. I’m not the type of person who typically says that, and I always defend my generation when older people say such things, but in this instance, they are right. It’s easy to say that eating animals is cruel when you don’t know hardship.
My grandmother from Jamaica used to say that it was all made to be eaten. When you are limited -food, especially meat 🥩, you’ll be happy to get that. Rabbit is delicious. Here in Hawaii, there is a culture that eat dog meat. Since I moved here to Hawaii (over 30+ years ago) , I have NEVER seen stray dogs ever. I certainly would eat it if I was starving.
people in Europe raise rabbits at home for a meat source.
Back years ago when times were harder people ate what was available! Someone said they thought this was gross. Maybe one day they will be glad to have rabbit or whatever. Times change ,we can learn so much from our elders and should. Much respect for Gina! Lots of love!☺️😋😋😋
I agree with you
Just left a similar comment. Its good to be thankful for what is available to us. 💕
Actually make it in 2022. It’s delicious
Fried rabbit (Southern style) is very good! My mother grew up during the Great Depression, and they trapped opposum, raccoon, squirrels, and wild turkey in addition to raising their own chickens. I’ve never had rabbit cacciatore. It looks delicious.
When I was young sometimes we only had meat when my father had been poaching, beggars can’t be choosers

Given the times we’re in, I appreciate the variety in my freezer for future use. My garden is being munched on by an abundance of rabbits. Every so often one checks out the trap set out and he ends up in our freezer. Wonderful protein source! Thank you Nona, for sharing your recipe.

For sure! Doing well on The Big Island of Hawaii, for an old broad! Hope you and your loved ones are happy and safe. Take care.
I've eaten rabbit once, but it wasn't memorable. Just watching this video puts eating rabbit on my to-do list. I think I'll find a restaurant that serves rabbit, and have a meal, before I cook rabbit. Thank you for sharing your good cooking skills with us and your lovely singing.

You make me miss my mom 🥲🥲🥲, I love watching all her video and enjoy her songs and her spirit. Is she still life ???
Yes ! 🙃
Wow! Grandma Gina! You’re wielding a wonderfully SHARP knife! You are a true professional.
My Mum was born on 30 September 1939, 27 days after War was declared in the United Kingdom. Times got hard, but my Grandparents did their very best to feed a family of 12. Rabbit was hunted and shot, and was basically 'free' meat during Wartime. The whole family loved rabbit stew, which was healthy because it was full of vegetables and very, very lean meat. Sadly, in the 50s, Myxamatosis put paid to most folks eating rabbit here. I have never tasted it, but I would be delighted to try it....It looks delicious! Thank you Nonna Gina, for another superb upload 🎉🎉🎉💐💐💐💐🥰🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗😋😋😋
This brings back family memories. Thank you, Gina!
Thank you, sometimes I make rabbit,
The meat was tasty and tender, very low in fat but not dry. I let it soak in buttermilk overnight.
I grew up eating lots of rabbit that my Grandpa hunted and Mama cooked. I liked it better than chicken. I love you, Gramma Gina!
Love you Gina!!!
I enjoy watching your videos. You remind me of my Grandmother who love to cook. That was so many years ago but I never forget my time growing eating her wonderful meals. My Grandparents were from Campania Italy. Thank you for making these videos, you bless so many people with them.

Nonna in Malta the rabbit stew is our national dish! Kiss the fingers tips!
Exquisite dish! A delicacy. - "Coney" "Fenkata" - Rabbit stew goes back to the 14th century, in Germany, Great Britain, France... +
Growing up in the far north of Canada 🇨🇦 my family ate mostly off the land. I have fond memories of eating rabbit , moose deer , fish , ducks ,geese partridge etc, many ways.

REMEMBER THE GAME GUYS, DRINK EVERY TIME GINA SAYS OLEEVOOOLYO
What a joy! Looks so tasty. God bless you grandma!
I saw this recipe earlier today- and decided to make it for supper. I used chicken, but otherwise followed the recipe.
It was great!! I loved it!!
Thanks for making the video!!
I found a new favorite!!
Wonderful recipe I love Rabbit in different dishes! Thank you Grandma Gina I love your channel. ❤I also grew up on wild game, deer, elk, turkeys, duck, rabbit, lots of salmon all kinds of fish and wild pig. It’s the best!
I can not wait to make this recipe. I love rabbits. This is an easy recipe the way that you show us. My grandmother cooked rabbits and squirrels a lot.
Yeh rabbits are nice running about freely in a field with their babies at this time of year. Weirdo!
Rabbits in a field with no coyotes, no foxes, no owls sounds heavenly. Farmers would LOVE a world full of herbivores with no natural predators.
Hi Gina, I could smell it , make my mouth water, ( any left over give me a call) was waiting for a song? , Keep safe , All the best Brian 😃🥰
Gina, you are a special lady! I love that you’re cooking a rabbit…..they’re delicious, but I haven’t eaten it in years.

Now I wanna learn the language so I can sing with you 🤣🤣🤣 LOVE YOU GRAMMA 🥰💕
Grandma Gina, you make me smile every time I watch one of your videos.
Thank you ❤
Hello...God bless you, Gina. Wonderful to see you cook rabbit. My mother and father were born in 1895 and 1903 and came from a small farm in Leoni, Italy, Province of Avellino. I was born when my mother was 46. She cooked recipes just like you. My father made a big garden in New Jersey and my mother canned tomato sauce every Summer. We had a barn on our property and we had chickens and white rabbits (they really do produce a lot of babies). My mother did not make rabbit very often or maybe I wasn't aware if she did. I did not stay and watch, but I do remember eating a rabbit dinner--tastes like chicken. Her recipes were just like yours but it was difficult to write them down because it was a handful of this and a glass of that so I'm so thankful for the demonstration and the written recipes. May I make one suggestion--I learned about salt many years ago. The anti-caking chemical in salt is not healthy and I notice Gina uses Morton or such that has this chemical in it. I switched to Morton Pickling Salt in a box and it says nothing added--just plain salt. It's a little course but it melts just the same. This salt is much healthier--really. I don't have blood pressure issues. That chemical caused congestive heart failure in cows when they switched salt licks on the cows--then they switched back to the plain salt and then the cows had no issues. I highly recommend nothing added--just plain salt. God bless you and your family.
I grew up in the 50's and we had many a meal of rabbit and squirrel. We had a garden and ate off the land. It was tasty.
I just love watching Grandma Gina. She is such a beautiful person. While watching Grandma Gina, I recalled fond memories of my Grandpa Wall cooking and singing, while making his fruit pies, spaghetti, and his rhubarb meals. He had the garden as well. I love Grandma Gina and I will be cooking her recipe in a few days for my husband and son. They love rabbit! Thank you Grandma Gina and God bless you always.
My Nonna made this for me years ago.
She served it over polenta, I loved this dish.
God bless all Nonnas!
Would love to see more recipes with rabbit.
Oh my, we had fried cotton tailed rabbit often. With biscuits and gravey, well seasoned with salt, pepper and maybe other things. Or a crock pot with a creamy gravy, mushrooms, small potatoes, onion and carrots. Fantastic. For My family it was a treat not a have too.😉🤗🤗🤗
Love you Gina, but this I could never make or eat. I have a pet rabbit and she is so beautiful and a wonderful family pet.
Hello grandma, my mother in law in France she use to make it,she was half Italian by her dad who came to France during the war he was from the region of Venice. I personally don't like rabbit ,my husband loves it because in France they eat that but here in the US we don't eat that much. When we were living in France one day we went to visit my in laws and at that time I didn't speak French so well so she was trying to explain what I was eating and I couldn't understand so she told Bugs bunny and for me that was it I couldn't eat thinking of Bugs bunny. It looks pretty delicious my husband would love it,many hugs from a very rainy Miami.🥰
Yay, my favorite cook!! Love you Gina.
Grew up eating rabbit also as a child now I don’t eat it as often as it can be quite expensive but it’s definitely delicious.
When my father was stationed in Italy in the early 60's we raised rabbits in the garage to sell on the black market, meat was scarce over there, my father also sold butter and milk from the base commissary.
I've never eaten rabbit but I'd try anything Gina cooks. 😋 I know the idea of rabbit is weird to many of us Americans but funny how we don't give a thought to eating chickens, turkeys, little lambs, cows, pigs, etc, etc! Anyway, love you Nonna Gina ❤!
God protect this beautiful italian lady
God bless the hands that make this food. What a joy it is to watch you. 💓

My mom use to talk about all the different things that they ate when they were little children. There was 9 of them so they couldn't be picky. I think they ate rabbit , deer, squirrel and other things that I don't think any of us would eat. That was a beautiful song. Love to listen to you sing. I knew I missed a video. Have had a lot going on around here. Have a Happy 4th of July. ❤🎆🎇🎉🇺🇲
I raise nice, fat rabbits and will definitely be cooking this recipe!
Thank you for the love and song!
Boa tarde

I've never eaten rabbit. I remember my Dad bringing home this white bunny rabbit and my mom had to skin it and cook it, but I wouldn't eat it! But you make everything look so good, I might try it now!
I hunt for mine and most of the family loves it, but my daughter is uncomfortable with the cute to cooked factor, (in fact she hardly eats meat of any kind anymore,) so I understand what you're saying. If you normally eat chicken store bought, and depending on where you live, some butcheries do sell farm raised rabbit so you can skip the harvesting part of the process. I gotta tell you though, if you can't get over the cute to cooked factor, skipping that part isn't likely to help. I serve my daughter something alternative out of respect and that's okay too. Eggplant makes a decent substitute in recipes like this. I expect she'll eventually just go non-judgemental vegetarian.
I just found your channel, and I'm in love! You radiate such warmth and kindness, and I think it's amazing that you're teaching us how to cook authentic Italian cuisine. Liked and subbed, keep up the fantastic work
