Just adding that, I've been riding and working on bikes for over 50 years and I don't remember ever seeing any bike that's supposed to have the oil level checked "with the engine running". Yes the oil level should be checked after running the engine after the oil changes (mainly to fill the filter) but NOT with the engine running. Most manuals say to 1) let it sit for a few minutes after shutting it off and 2) it's more important to check the level when Cold, Before Riding and it always needs to be on the center stand when checked, or holding the bike level, straight up if it doesn't have a center stand (except for Harleys, they are checked on the side stand)...
The manual told me to inject 1.5 liters, but if I inject 1.5 liters after oil drain, it will exceed the 'max'. I've always wondered about this. I think the 80% point between 'max' and 'min' is ideal. In this case, 1.3 to 1.4 liters of oil are injected. Please look carefully at the oil check window as you inject oil. I still don't know what the answer is. Perhaps the manual specifies a situation in which the remaining oil in the engine has been "almost removed". How much time does this need to be taken by the oil drain? Some even tip their motorcycles dangerously for this. I think the user manual should inform the consumer of this situation more clearly.
A few questions. What year is your Xmax? Mine has the oil text flashing at the bottom, but it also says OIL SERV flashing at the top and I can’t get either to stop. Secondly, what is the name of the tool you used to torque so I know what to buy.
2021. The oil change service indicator is set based on mileage so it will stay on once you hit the service interval until you program it letting the bike know the oil change was performed. Harbor Freight has the cheapest torque wrench tool.
If I ride at higher speeds, does the oil get used up and turn dark faster? It seems like I just got the oil changed maybe 350 miles ago and it’s already dark brown.
@candacesmith3580 mineral, or semi synthetic do not fair the best with heat. But it sounds like you're changing the oil more then specified, so that's good. 350 miles = 560kms I would imagine that's enough to change the colour alot. Be sure to use quality gas stations. Also if any doubt just stop in a Yamaha service center and ask. I think you're fine.
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate this short and to the point guide. Ride safe!
Nice job mate. So clear!

Great video , thanks . Could you tell me if the engine oil drain plug thread is 12 mm or 14 mm in diameter ?
Cheers .
Glad you found it helpful. Should be 12mm diameter.
Thank you for this super video 👍
Bonjour tout les combien de km faire la vidange?
Nice video, but do you have to play that cheesy music while you are wrenching in order to do it right?
Great video !
Thank you
You're welcome!!!

Good morning!!Are you losing oil??
Does it burn your oil?
Never had oil level drop for me.

Was that your first oil change?
@@motohound90 No. I got the initial and then the 1k miles. Now I’m at 4k+ miles. I think I got this most recent oil change around 4200 miles.

How often do we change xmax engine oil?
The initial change is at 600 miles and then it is every 3,000 miles after that.
You sure every 3000 as service record say’s every 6000
@@matthewlamb1608well he said 3000 miles so its 4828 km
