Dude!!!!! This just changed my life. I've been an Avid editor since 1995. Thank you so much for posting this. I always love watching other editors because I learn so much every time. In your video, it was the setting "Select filler with Segment tools" UNCHECKED. That is the money tip. Thank you.
to use the method shown you have to use the 'To The Right' function as a button not a keyboard shortcut (otherwise it won't select only the filler), and you either have to have only the yellow segment tool active, or you need to have the Default Segment Tool set to Segment Insert (in Timeline Settings/Edit) otherwise pressing delete does nothing. You can also have the 'Select Filler with Segment Tools' option ticked and then select each gap individually by shift-clicking, and with the Segment Insert tool either being the default tool or the only one selected in the segment button, hit delete. All needlessly overcomplicated of course, there should just be a 'Delete Gaps' button/keyboard shortcut

I'm just learning Avid after using Premiere for so many years and it can be really frustrating. This helped SO MUCH THANK YOU!!!!
I've been waiting for this tip for SO long ! Thank you sir.
This only thing is that it doesn't work if you have rushes on different tracks
Really useful - thankyou! Wish they’d just add a ‘close gaps’ button/option!
That was what I was looking for in Avid.
Cool thanks! Love tips and tricks!
Thanks so much for this!
