  • In this episode, Vrishaparva, a member of the Knowledge Department in Bhakti Marga, has been serving alongside Swami Revatikaanta for the past few years. In this podcast, we discuss the importance and place of knowledge on the spiritual path. Is knowledge to be used as a weapon to divide, or can it be used to enhance our bhakti and appreciate the path more? We also discuss some basic ideas of Vedanta philosophy and how the Hari-bhakta-sampradaya siddhanta is a modern response to these questions.

One of the big issues seems to be the desire to be right, and judgements like "My philosophy is right, therefore your philosophy, being different is wrong". In a healthy appreciation, it is more valuable to say "I follow philosophy A and therefore we disagree with philosophy B" but until we have full perception of The Ultimate, it is not for us to invalidate other paths or philosophies. The fact that my limited mind cannot reconcile two apparent opposite philosophies, does not mean they are wrong.
When people have been in more than one spiritual path in life, this is more evident, because they embrace a spiritual path, they learn the basis, they dedicate themselves and build a foundation based on a certain conception of the reality and learn it to be The Truth. But once they need to change to a new spiritual path, they need to unlearn all that they considered to be The Absolute Truth. And they either go to "I was once wrong but now I'm right" or to "different spiritual paths serve a certain purpose, and I cannot understand God, therefore I cannot judge". It is ok to disagree, but when we start to invalidate other paths besides ours, I think we crossed a line and we are missing the point. The philosophy and the practices are not the end itself, they are just tools into getting us to this Ultimate Reality. But they should never distract us from the Supreme Lord, the Ultimate Reality.

"Spiritual path is not something that brings only spiritual dimension, but sometimes helps cleaning and organising and motivate on the material dimension."

And we know we haven't reached realization if we still feel dissatisfied and want to learn deeper wisdom about love. This is why suffering is a beautiful sign because it shows us that we long for something deeper. Many tend to say pain is "bad" but it is just the foundation of growth with the grace of guruji. Once again God is hard to discuss but guruji(s) is relatable to humans as our teacher and dear friend

We often forget to mention that those who choose to "simply love" God, the Saints dedicated to praising God for example, do receive all the knowledge needed from within.
Sincerely loving God always leads to the knowledge of the truest kind. The wisdom displayed by the "most illiterate" has been showcased many times.

Thank you both. There's is some degree to which questions we have end...or are no longer necessary to ask because our lives are the answer or will provide the answer.

Besides saints and avatars we are all physically human and that's what connects us. So besides philosophy every human can practice sadhana or mantra. We can practice humility which is universal and we only know of the atma or God if we truly have experienced realization. So I'm guessing that the saints can speak so fluently of philosophy only because they dived deeper into the reality of life itself. Overall we hope knowledge pushes us to work diligently but it shouldn't hinder us on our path of love.

100% belief on their own sampraday is must for one to move forward... When Vishnu ji needed to take so much form, why would anybody think that there should be only one belief system. Why didn't he always take birth only in form of Narsimha ji, or Ram ji or krishn ji in all yug.
Why did he take form of vithalla in Maharashtra, Ram in North, Jagannath in orissa.
One should understand, it is the need of the time, and place. And that's why it is eternal.
Hey Dev ansh ... We should play with our beloved Bhagwan.
