That heat gun tip is absolutely genius!
Adding it to my toolbox
Very cool 👍🏻
Absolutely B-E-A-utiful 😍
Love your simple way of painting and the colors on these and the "WoW" inspired houses are gourgeous.
I am printing out the full "Low-Tile" version of the HeroQuest board from DRQ and gonna try your technique when printing is done.
My only problem is finding Americana colors and the primers in europe.
Going to attempt my first terrain piece this weekend. Thank you for the tutorial.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful.
Like those trees!!
Thanks for your design and making them available on Thingiverse! They are awesome.
Agreed...amongst the best tree models out there! ...and def the best as a one off print!
You did a great job! One fun detail you could have added to the inside floor would be wear marks where people would have most likely walked inside.
That's a great idea--wouldn't have been hard to do. Just some drybrushing and scratching would have done it.
Thank you for sharing your tips
Damn even just the gray highlights make a big difference and that was easy
I'm surprised that you managed to find a warm enough day lately in St. Louis to use spray paint outside.
Have you considered using your airbrush to prime your 3D prints with? You could do it year-round then.
Here's my tip for spray cans. Shake them very well to mix the paint and propellant, then set them in a container of warm water for a few minutes, then shake them some more and paint your model. It can make or break the priming process.
We've had some 60-70 degree temps lately, although it fluctuates a lot. I do plan on learning how to use my airbrush this summer.
Gaminggeek St. Louis weather: "It fluctuates a lot."
This is the least exaggeration ever uttered in a UA-cam response. The weather here is all over the place.
@@GeneJordan Haha! That's the truth! At least we didn't get snow this past Saturday.
Brilliant for a 'medieval period European' style fantasy buildings
These videos helpt me allot
Scale might have been so they could fit on to a certain size of printer bed.
Thanks for sharing the tips for painting, even when you're sick! Just an aside, the method you're using is actually called overbrushing, not drybrushing. You have way too much paint for it to be a 'real' drybrush. However....that doesn't really matter in the least but just thought I'd mention it.
I didn't know there was something called "overbrushing" but that makes sense. Thanks for the comment!
Another great video, thanks!
What scale are the houses?
28mm
35mm
I was thinking of getting different scales, like the house being to small at 28mm, get it in 35mm instead?
Any thoughts?
Thanks for the scale comment!
I really like your videos. You got some inspiring ideas how bring our hobby to life. Thanks for you work! I'm curious about what you will do with the new WHQ cursed city, if you planing to get it😉
Glad you like my vids! I'm still undecided regarding Cursed City as I'm still waiting to get more information. Looks cool but $300 is pretty steep. Also, Frostgrave is my Mordheim replacement so it would have to be better than that for me to buy in. What about you?
@@gaminggeek241 i dont belive it will cost 300$, it is a rumor like everytime a new gw game is announced. it looks cool so far, and with backround of the other WHQ games, It already caught my attention. And thise games are always on a good price balance, even if u only want the models.
@@brushhammerdice4438 Yes, their starter boxes are really good deals--if Cursed City has a good starter set for a reasonable price, I will probably buy it. The Warcry and Kill Team original starter boxes were really good deals.
@@gaminggeek241 thats true, i bought the warcry starter too, painted the whole box and it is still awesome because i use the terrain and minis for a lot of systems. I hope we can build a cool 3d board for Ulfenkran, the cursed city! I'm excited
Love these terrain vids! Wandering if you have any tips for printing these larger building sets in regards to supports?
They print without supports.
Wow
do you have a special technique for painting the edges of beams in tudor. I have 50+ tudor tiles and even the tiniest brushes still gets brown on the tudor stucco and stucco onto the beams. How do I get a clean line without having to masking tape each individual area. Is there a super special brush somewhere or technique?
Looks great and thanks for the info! I'm printing the same series of buildings right now. I was also curious about printing the buildings if it's ok to ask? I was wondering what slicer you use? How often do you use supports? I printed the small cottage without supports on accident( First time using Cura) and the roof didn't have any issues surprisingly. I'm currently printing the Mausoleum top with supports and it double the print time. I"ve had a 3d printer for less than a week, so it's all new.
I use Prusa Control that came with my Prusa MK3S. I don't use supports and I'm pretty sure most of their stuff is designed to be printed without supports. I remember I did have to print the wooden stair piece to the inn with supports but that's it. I did also use a raft for their small bits, like the doors and signs which I combined into one print. BTW, you won the raffle! Congrats!
I'm wondering, since you printed them in black PLA, if a quick dry brush with a grey, then followed with a lighter grey would be sufficient. Thus leaving the black in the recesses to simulate shadow. A spray coat of matt varnish would get rid of any gloss finish left behind on the bare black. Either way, fantastic prints!
Yes, that would definitely work. But I don't like black as the base layer because I find the contrast to be too high. The reason why I print in black is because if the model gets paint scratched off, it isn't so noticeable.
It would work ...a bit. But 2 probs. It's shiny...and shiny is horrible in any lighting. 2nd: straight PLA doesn't take the paint as well as a matt sprayed surface. That said, plenty just slap it on... I spray with Rustoleum Flat Black as I can't get Krylon in Australia.
@@TalismancerM I found Rust-o-leum at Bunnings, they have a pretty good selection too.
@@TalismancerM Works fine, just hit it with a matte spray at the end to take the shine off.
love your video and painting i think you filament is not dry enough that is probably were you strings are coming from
Very nice, do you protect them with anything (varnish)?
No, I do not varnish my terrain as I don't mind as much if they scratch compared to minis. That's why I print with black PLA because you can't tell scratches as much.
I know this is abit late but do you use any washes on these? It appears you're getting really good contrast even just with your drybrushing
No washes! Just drybrushing to keep it fast and simple.
so would you recommend scaling up the port tavern ? i use 25mm base minis. I can see that the 3 story one looks too small. Sadly i purchased the port tavern only at this time.
I would scale it to be about 10% larger.
Are the y printed in 28mm or 32 mm?
I'm not sure--it works for both. I just printed the size the STL's came in.
@@gaminggeek241 Thanks for your answer. do you reckon it fits to warhammer fantasy scale?
@@LaLocuraDeMarius Yes definitely, although some of their older buildings are slightly smaller in scale than their newer ones. Before printing out, I would take a look at the building in your slicer software and stand a 32mm mini model next to it and size it accordingly.
Where can I found this mat street floor to print?
Sorry I don't know if you can print--I bought mine from Tablewar FAT mats.
@@gaminggeek241 I would like to buy the file... Is it possible or only physical?
@@kuzuki06 You would have to ask Tablewar--I don't know if they would sell the graphic file but you can always ask.
@@gaminggeek241 ok, bro! Thank you!
U printed that on the prusa?
Yes.
How long do pieces like these take to print?
A long time--the inn took me four days of almost perpetual printing. The small cottage takes 18 hours.
depends on the Nozzle and Detail you want to go with, Bigger Nozzle faster but less detail but faster, smaller Nozzle is more detail and Longer times. But VS cost and ability to print multiples for one cost instead of 15 for one model at a hobby shop is Nice, Plus you can Customize it Pre and after print with a little practice and if screw up just print another. I use my 2 printers for Board Game Organizers, Accessories, scenery, tools and tons more.
where did you find the turret ?
Do you mean this? www.printablescenery.com/product/wizard-tower/
@@gaminggeek241 yep, thanks you ,)
I want those models so bad but they're so expensive....
Have you looked at Thingiverse? There are a lot of free STL files to print there.
