Martha sways is one of my favorite songs. The lyrics are incredibly beautiful. Great work of art. The whole album is on my all time top ten list. And will always be. Hugs and kisses to Andy.
This is a love song about someone who he had previous loved. __________________________________________________________________ martha's thin pretty just like you - Martha reminds him of his lover i held her close like i held you - How he held his lover martha sways and i follow suit - He's not thinking about the present, he is stuck thinking about his ex-lover, but his body still moves almost like a robot she fills my glass and i toss it back - He downs his glass as soon as she gives it to him, meaning he wants to escape into the space that once held you - The drink goes into his body and soul, just like he held his lover, in his soul. and dance dance to the radio while the devil takes control - The devil being the thoughts inside his head, he is overcome with sadness there's a weight holding me down - the weight of the memories and emotions associated with his ex-lover martha says it's all in my head - true i look at the lights dancing in her eyes - he is mesmerized by this which deepens his thoughts and i wanna die dancing in her eyes - he realizes his own thoughts, he wants to die because he hates the situation he is in, grieving heavily over an ex-lover martha spins and i catch her hand - Suddenly jointing him to think of the present she smiles and laughs bringing me back - Where he finally snaps out of his negative thoughts and returns to Martha
Thank you @NewAmsterdam for sharing @AndyShauf and his song, "Martha Sways" on tonight's episode Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Very moving song, and great voice @AndyShauf! Had to come find it immediately! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world!
Hi Maureen! Is it the music at the very beginning of the 5th episode? The one Max is listening to while walking in the street, before dr. Iggy Frome stops him to talk?
@@FrancescaCroci Hi Francesca. I'm not sure if it played then, it caught my attention towards the end when Helen is talking to Iggy about her memories and remembers the truth. I believe it was when she went to his office.
@@maureenbarkell-kaczmar9005 thanks! Maybe it's played twice (at least) in the episode. At the very beginning it's only music and it lasts maybe 20/30 seconds. In the weekend I'll try to check it out. Thanks for your answer! Ciao from Italy! :)

The string section is genius. Dissonance at its finest.

Many of us miss our exes..but too afraid to share that thought while you are with someone..This song was liberating!
I wouldn’t say miss them but miss the unique connections we experience with all kinds of people.
Such an incredible song and album, I'm a bit surprised Andy hasn't gained more traction. I only recently found his music and it's just phenomenal.
It has soul, and therefore isn't backed by mainstream media.
This is a love song about someone who he had previous loved.

Yea Allright. No offense bud, but I think that everyone who listened to this track got that pretty clearly by just listening to it.
Pretty sure I was high when I wrote this comment 😛

Thanks for putting the lyrics up. Just one edit: I think the first line is "Martha's thin, pretty just like you".
Okay thanks! :)
@@nathaniellamont9541 On apple Music it says "Martha stands"
Really underrated.
I love this song and not just because it's a martha song
This intimacy brings me American Football vibes... sweet end to an soft album
The last 4 tracks are my favorites... #1 To You, #2 Martha Sways #3...
"she smiles and laughs
bringing me back..."
This line brings tears to my eyes
1:35 is that a joy division reference?
this is beautiful
This song makes me feel all kinda ways
Sounds like Bright Eyes a little bit. I dig it, though.
Any other songs with this same theme(letting go of past love)?

Thanks chalchitra talks for this
Does anyone know what tuning this is?
Drop B i believe. So step and a half down for full guitar and then the normal E string to B.
It’s pretty downtuned yeah. It has a low B.
I miss her.
"Carving an apple up like a Jack-o-lantern and cutting a birthday candle in half lighting a match."

oh my god
Oh my Goard, with Andy‘s words 😊
I don't think it's a coincidence that multiple songs from this album last 4 minutes and 20 seconds. . .

you are seriously disturbed if you can listen to this and that's all you have to comment, jesus christ
it's just one line for Christ's sake!
Lol. . he's his own thing but I see he borrowed that line !
Claire Morales which line?
dance, dance to the radio
How can you "steal" a line if it's just a bunch of words put together? If I say "dance dance to the radio" today in my car, does that mean I stole it?
