      I just discovered, two weeks ago, that Martin Sheen was the narrator in the Eyewitness documentary show sometime in 1996-1997 (only in the US version).

    Truly a deeply devoted, morally centered, committed human being. It's what makes Mr. Sheen such a fantastic performer. He CONNECTS himself to things, to people, to causes, to conviction, and it shows in his work. Bravo, sir.

    Seeing Martin Sheen developing into the actor he is today, makes his performance in Apocalypse Now so much stronger, so much more forceful in hindsight.

    what is amaziing abour this guy, is not that he used to be james dean, and was also christopher jones for a while, but that no one ever even suggests it.... its very obvious when you look a little closer. When you see it, you realise just how good an acotr he really was.

    Thank you Martin, for being involved in so many areas of concern, and different causes. I've been involved as far as quoting my ideas and thoughts, online, about everything. I know we all need to step it up. One world- without borders, and all commerce directed into a global NPO, competing from within. It could be done, if a global peace force kept populations from oversaturating other regions after the borders fell. Resources and jobs would be available all over, anyway.

    I was racking my brain trying to remember the name of the private that Martin portrayed and when he said it it came right back to me. It was powerful. Yes he did take some interesting rules for the money and that was what you needed to do when you had a family to raise. Whether you were in the movies or you were a manager of the shoe store you did what you needed to do. But he did so many other great things.

    Martin speaks out in two of my eco docs - one on saving the Ballona Wetlands in The Last Stand: Heroes at Ballona Wetlands (and earlier versions) as well as for the community farm in South Central Farm: Oasis in a Concrete Desert, both of these available on You Tube or at Green Planet Films; in the wetlands film he also had a sense of humor during the action of locking developers doors He told me before filming at the wetlands that he hoped to get arrested as he was going to be 45 and he'd been arrested 44 times so needed to catch up A wonderful activist and human being, not to mention actor! Long live Martin Sheen!

      That is a great story Sheila, I hope to get arreated for the 45th time!!! That is funny and inspiring at once. Bless you and your work, and I sure wish I could meet Mr. Sheen, as I love his work....always have, and it was of course Apocalypse Now that drew me to him. Sorry for typo, my keyboard is so old I cant see half of the letters!!

    "A moral conscience" "a moral frame of reference" … very few can say that today.
    And I don't mean Hollywood, I mean everywhere in United States and any other part of the world.
    Sad
    This is a remarkable person. It occurs to me I was not really aware about Martin Sheen except that he was a good actor and saw him in a couple of good movies such as Apocalypse Now and a few others …

    I have different politics (not everything) than Martin Sheen but I agree with him totally about being true to himself and always enjoyed his acting and always separated politics from acting. In politics you can be both right and wrong at the same time so why get personal about it. I also have tilted windmills and paid the price but I won more than I lost but not materially.

    For what it's worth, my thoughts....Dear Mr. Sheen, you missed your calling. Should have been a priest, a man o'the cloth, as it were. There is something of the martyr about you. (Saint Sebastian in a past life?) he got beat up by the Romans for not following the empirical line. One man alone in a theatre trying to say so much about humanity. "I'm Spartacus!" the story with the preacher. I support the stand on Iraq, but not the IRA. My fav scene with you and the late, great, Mr Richard Griffiths in Gandhi, the reporters standing helpless during the passive resistance to the salt tax. Anyhoo...live long and prosper! I realise you're trying for integrity in this scum pit of a world. Sometimes we get it right, sometimes we don't.

    • @terrycantwell3574

      Thanks for the comment. I think when he was referring to the IRA he was talking about the IRA of the 1920s; the group that went on to form the first Irish Government. Not sure what his thoughts are on the provisional IRA.

    • @brendanokeeffe2998
      @brendanokeeffe2998 3 роки тому +1

      He was referring to what we call the old/original IRA it's a very different organisation to the terrorists that have taken the name in the recent past.

    16:26, no you don’t have to be a genius to respond to injustice, but you should have enough knowledge to discern what is really a problem, what just looks bad, and what will actually solve the issue. If you can’t do that and are nothing more than a parrot for bad ideas you’re more harm than good.

    • @terrycantwell3574
      @terrycantwell3574  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment Mike. UA-cam has taken away the dislike function so even I can't see what the likes/dislikes are. I don't like it either. People either like something or they don't, big deal, but censoring people's opinions seems counter productive to me. 'Da' is a particular favourite of mine (I'm Irish)

    • @GoodmanMIke59
      @GoodmanMIke59 2 роки тому

      @@terrycantwell3574 I'm hoping you understand the "too idealistic for me" comment. I'm one additional generation removed from the Immigrant experience but this guy is clearly a product of the pro-union, leftist environment, as was I ... until I grew a brain. Went hard right from my early forties to mid 50s. Now I'm my own man. ... ... ... Basically it's simply not as black-and-white as Mister Sheen would have us believe. The right wants to use others in commerce. The left wants to use others to take from the right. The Progressive anarchist wants to use the uninitiated as "cannon fodder" to upset the system without ever having created anyting. ..... ...... The true conservative wants to be left the hell alone.... ... ... ... The problem is that nobody will leave people like me alone. Somebody's always reaching into my goddamn pocket. Somebody's always nibbling away at my constitutional liberties. Somebody's enacting some regulatory body to confuse the system, create make-work, add additional unfunded mandates, needless work for everybody. Look up the phrase "Byzantine". ... the system, as created by the founders, work. Not perfectly, but it worked. Any and all situational problems have been remedied. There is no institutional racism. There's Freedom of Choice, including the right to kill an unborn baby, something that this Democrat Catholic didn't mention. Everybody should be able to eat something for dinner.... ... ... ... More to the point, as a man who's been routinely arrested, knowing that he will get out, his experience is not that of the true penal system, Mr. Sheen is simply one more idealistic, activist thespian who worships the likes of Jane Fonda who (because of her father) never risked any suffering. I know; I WAS that idealistic Moron. ...... Now I want strictly to be left alone. .... I do nothing to you, nothing to my neighbor, nothing to anyone to whom I am not personally acquainted. ... and push come to shove, you won't do anything to help anybody if it's a fight over limited resources, if it's you against them.

    • @GoodmanMIke59
      @GoodmanMIke59 2 роки тому

      @@terrycantwell3574 the reason you can't see the dislike count is because leftists wany no true competition, only participation trophies.
