LET'S GO JEFFERY 🏁
12 point on a ratcheting wrench is the best choice.... If a guy is putting enough force on the fasteners the strip them they're not using them right..they're not for breaking tight fasteners free..they're for having more position options to get on fasteners to run them in or out...
I like the matte finish too Jeff
Yes sir boosted!!!!
Hello again, Jeff
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I appreciate your statement "There is no perfect tools ". Son I almost hit the floor 😀 But you are right. I don't think I have heard anyone say it. Thank you
Hi george i always also say( no one wrench can do it all),lol!! thanks my friend for supporting the tiny channel!!!
Got my SAE set 1/4-3/4 as soon as they became available. Been using them daily in a professional setting. 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, and 3/4 are what get used the hardest. Been holding up amazing. No complaints here.
Thanks recon for sharing that with the channel!!!
I need to replace a 15mm one I have it completely fell apart……. Love these types of wrenches , save tons of time. I like that yours have a switch, mine don’t so I have to flip mine. Thanks for the look Jeff
yea the reverse lever is a nice feature!!! thanks marc for joining in!!
These are a big improvement over the older 6 point wrenches. The I filled in the gaps in my flex head gear wrench set with these and the heads much stronger
I remember the old 6 point, never bought any though!!thanks tony for joining in!!!
I was buying all the obsolete models back months ago when they were on clearance. Seem great!
Like the 6 point ones!!! lots of guys love those!!! thanks for joining in my friend!!
Great reviews I'm not ashamed to own them or afraid to lose one
Hi larry thanks for sharing your take on them!!!!
I've said it before, I know, but those Tektons look identical (apart from the branding) to the mixed set of Britool and Beta ratchet wrenches I have. I started collecting those in 2012, buying the Britool wrenches on clearance and filling in the gaps later with Beta. Never had any problems with any of them, they've been a pleasure to own and use.
Where did you buy the Britool or Beta, over in UK?
@@jefftovani5535 Yes, in the UK. The Britool stuff I found on clearance on eBay, and Beta, I'm lucky enough to have a local distributor 5 mins away - that place was my equivalent of the Snap-On truck for a few years, I ordered loads of tools from there!
Nice, thanks for getting back to me!!
Enjoyed the video very much. Thanks man.
Thanks tiddums!!
I liked the 6 point tekton wrenches myself. I got some of the 6pt double box end wrenches from tekton that they've now discontinued unfortunately
Whish they still made those 6 point!!! thanks for taking a gander!!
@@jefftovani5535sweet review
What happens if I need to warranty a 6 pt
@@alcerz984 they'll probably give u a new 12 point if it's tekton. They did still have some older 6 point one's on sale in stock but I'm not sure. It sucks. I'm scared to put too much torque on my tekton 6pt now because I don't want a 12point replacement lol
@@alcerz984 they should of kept the old 6pt design and offered a 12point design as well. I wish they didn't discontinue them!
Tekton makes some good stuff. Thanks for a good review
Hi jeff you cant be there warranty!! thanks my friend!!
I like the satin finish. Glad they are holding up well! You should soak a few in ATF overnight and do a video on the backdrag. That would be cool to see.
Got some soaking as we speak my friend, stat tuned!!
@@jefftovani5535 awesome!
Great follow-up review. I like the satin finish and the reverse lever. My Gearwrench and Sata sets are not reversible. Thanks Jeff
Im a big fan of the reverse lever myself!! thanks for jouning in my friend!!!
Great review, Meat and Potatoes just made me hungry ,thanks again Jeff
Yea i kind of got own way of saying things, lol!! thanks tank!!
@@jefftovani5535 Jeff l support those famous words 100 % time for Steak and Fries ! TANK
I've got the flex-head version of the 6-19 mm set and my only complaint after a couple of months of use is that they only sell a wrench roll for the 6-24mm set for their ratcheting wrenches. The only storage option they sell for the 6-19 set is the modular wrench organizers. It is possible to use the roll for the normal combination wrenches, however, they only fit into the pockets one way and that is open end down, because the box end is slightly larger. Other than that one thing I have no complaints and the satin chrome finish makes it really easy to tell between the ratcheting and normal combination wrenches at a glance.
Thanks my friend for joining in and sharing your take on them!!!
I haven't given it too much thought, but lately, i been preferring satin finish over polished. It's been quite a while since I've reached for my old Gearwrench set of reversible wrenches. I work on power sports machines more nowadays, and sometimes there's not enough room around the fastener for the thicker end to fit. I wouldn't mind having a better quality set, though. I've had mine a long time.
Hi shadow the blackhawks are awesome, mine were made in USA bought the ones made in Taiwan are damn good also,i left a link!!
I think they look like they are holding up pretty good and are worth the money. I do like that satin finish to my friend.
Hi joe yea the satin finish grows on you, lol!! thanks my friend!!
Jeff, It is a shame that Tekton does not offer a 6 point since the only part that would different is the inside shape of the socket ring on the wrench. On the subject why does the 10mm seem always better than the other wrenches. I think their 2 resins 1) battery terminal bolt since they are soft you need a better fit. 2) Some guys will buy one wrench just to try it out if they like it they will buy the whole set, and since every car uses the 10mm they but just that one size and if they do get the whole set later having two 10mm is not a problem. In other words the tool companies want the show off a bit.
Lots of guys like the 6 point, myself included!! i like your thinking on the 10mm wrench, makes sense!!! thanks as always my friend!!
Should get a seekonk dial ounce torque bit driver to test the back drag. This will tell you how much back drag things have. Would be pretty cool jeff
you need big torx bits, right for ratchets wrenches, what about ratchets?
I have never owned nor used a ratcheting wrench! Can't wait to get a set, probably cheapest one I can find. 😢
Brad check out my play list on them, you may find it very useful!!! thanks my friend!
Tekton does a great job. Was lucky back in the day when Sears closed out the Gear Wrench and got them for a song and have been very happy. The finish on the Tekton has merit. Thanks as always for providing alternatives.
Hi remfj doing a follow up like i do with all my new tools!!! its all about having options!! thanks my friend!!!!
I don’t own any Tekton tools…….yet. Very nice
Great warranty louis!!
Thank you for the follow-up review!! Good to know they are holding up well. This can fit in the USA made tools since you compared them to your USA made Blackhawks ;)
But they are Taiwanese.
Yea i always do follow ups after using them for sometime!!! thanks my friend!!!
Are you talking about the blackhawks?
@@jefftovani5535 New Blackhawks are made overseas. Originally they were made here in USA. Jeff has the older, USA made set.
What's up brother, you don't sound your normal chipper self, Keep it up buddy!
Yea gots lots of work to do for the wife, lol!! thanks my friend!!!
That’s a nice set of wrenches
Not a bad set my friend!! thanks for checking in!!!
Good information thanks for the video.
Thanks luke for joining in!!!
Thanks, Jeff!
I like those tekton.
I have a set of Jaeger reversible at the moment. They've been great.
I think i did a review on the Jaeger wrenches,i need to look!!! thanks Jay!!
@JayBird911 - I got those too. Both metric and SAE. Seem to be good wrenches so far. Heads are a pretty wide but seem like they can take a lot of torque. Wanted the Milwaukee sets, but too much coin for my budget right now.
Looks like the blue point set I've had for years I give my bule points a 5 out of 10.
Never owned the blue point!! thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!!!
I'm planning on getting a set of the ratchet wrenches soon. There have been a few times I wished I had some. Most wrenches I own have some sort of a satin finish to them. Even the Blackhawk set I have. I do have a few loose polished wrenches but no a complete set. The polished wrenches do look nice but honestly It doesn't matter to me.
Hi Brian these and my Blackhawk are my favorite regular length ratchet wrenches!!!! thanks for sharing your take on it!!!
I Like polished Chrome
Nothing wrong with that scott!! thanks!!!
I could care less how pretty they are because I actually use and abuse my wrenches and make a living with them, so my concern is how do they hold up …great video
Preformance and longgevity!! yes and yes!! thats why i do a few follow ups after using!! altough i dont make a living with my tools!!! im retired!! thanks my friend!!
Great review, Jeff! I’m learning to like that finish…no finger prints. Backdrag is a drag!
They will grow on you, lol!! thanks my friend!!!
I really like the look of those satin finish wrenches. If I didn't already have the Gearwrench reversible ratcheting wrenches I'd pick up a set. Unfortunately there is only so much room in my Craftsman top and bottom tool box. Hope you're having a great day and staying out of the heat. Take care my friend!
Yea the gearwrench ratchet wrenches were it all started at sears!! i never bought any ratchet wrenches back then, stupid me!! i only had ratchet wrenches for 12 years or so,my first ones where craftsman non reversable ones!!! thanks lieser!!!
@@jefftovani5535 When I first saw the Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches at Sears I thought they were another gimmick tool. I felt that the gear mechanism would be fragile. At that time I had a set of Matco offset box reversible coarse tooth ratcheting wrenches. The typical laminated and riveted style that was the norm at the time. You could really tug on them and they were strong. Gearwrench wasn't sold on the tool trucks back then. I left the trade in November of 2001 and hadn't been on a tool truck since then. Around 2008 I moved my shop into an industrial complex. A guy opened an independent repair shop there. It was then that I noticed the guys were using the Gearwrench tools. The Snap-on man was selling them, but, wouldn't warranty them. Sears wouldn't warranty them either.
Satin for the win!!! Also, have you ever gotten your hands on some Sonic tools? I think they are WAY overpriced for some Taiwanese tools. Obsessed Garage, however, got a full toolbox from them and Snap On, and the fit and finish was better (in his opinion) on the Sonic kit than the Snap On for half the price! He only does car detailing and *very* light mechanical work however, so they're not as stress tested.
Hi speedy i never checked out Sonic tools!!! i will take a look!! thanks for the info!!!!
The bulky heads can get in the way sometimes but may be nice if ya gona really wrench on it. Have a set of blue point with bulky head but always reach for the icon or older stanleys which i love. Thanks for the video Jeff. Keep em comin
Yea there a bit bulky!!! i use my blackhawks the most!! thanks james!!!
Thank you for the update, Jeff. I have to look back through your videos, but did you try the Icon plain open end, reversible, ratcheting wrenches? Just wondering if you did, how they compared to the Tektons. As I said, you might have already made a video on that subject, but that was my first thought after seeing this. Edit: Found the video, need to re-watch it.
Yea there one i did awhile back!!
👍👍👍
Hello harry!!!!
Are you feeling ok? Please time time for yourself if needed.
Im good, the wife got a honey to do list, and its long, lol!! thanks for checking in my friend!!
Good looking set
Thanks Warren!!
Tekton has came a long way from the quality they had in the early 2000s
Hi hachi it funny you mentioned that,i first bought Tekton in 20010 when most people never heard of them,i thought they were poor mans tools, they were cheap and just ok i thought, nothing to get excited about!!! yes they have come a long ways!!!
@@jefftovani5535 my local autozone used to carry them and I only bought a few items that didn't matter much. I still have an inline spark tester from before I graduated high-school in 05
Tekton 😎😎😎
Tekton is in the house!!😀
The Blackhawk look superior to me, smaller head.
Hi jim, they are my #1 set,i used them for 10 years!!!
A person of any mechanical capacity could use those wrenches and be effective and efficient.
Thats why there my back up set, there nice overall set!! thanks for joining in!!
Jeff, I bought the original gear wrench ratcheting wrenches in both metric and standard when they showed up at Sears a long long time ago they’re still going strong. I just wonder if the quality was better then what’s your opinion on that?
Are those the Gear wrench sets that had the small ring that would let the wrench set on a nut/bolt without falling through? I have a set and love that feature. I don't know of any other wrenches that have it.
The ones you got are probably better!!! some of there stuff is made in china now!!!hang on to the ones you got!!! thanks for sharing!!!!
I will not use a ratchet wrench with back drag.
Thanks papa for sharing your opinion on them!!
Can you still buy Blackhawk wrenches? I haven't seen them sold anymore.
Yes Bret use my amazon link!!!
@@jefftovani5535 Where do I find the link?
Hi Bret go back to the video, under the title, youll see views and the word more, click on the word more and youll see in blue text the tekton and blackhawks wrench sets, click on the blue text for the blackhawks it will bring you to direct link to amazon!! let me know if you have any problems!
I bought the gearwrench long pattern and my 17 binds up any suggestions?
The only you can try is to soak it in ATF for a few days,it may work!!!let me know!!
Thank you and maybe you can tell me this also.why do the gears sound different (almost less quality than the rest)?
If there was any teeth worn or broke!! or you just got a bad one,ive seen it before in my travels!!!
Got it thank you
