First it is pronounced Mackinaw, the C is silent. Good job, now do it five more times in a row it will become easier every time. During a summer vacation one year, dad thought he could save a few cents on gas in the lower peninsula so he charged out onto the southbound ramps only to sputter to a halt half way up to the grates. State police transferred a gallon of fuel to us on site, neat adventure.
I used to deliver travel trailers to Sault St. Marie and to deeper points in Canada, so I towed across the Mackinac Bridge many times, including the winter months. I always had to follow the escort vehicles at 20 mph. I never had any really bad moments on the bridge, and I thought that 20 mph was too slow. Driving on the steel grating at the highest part of the bridge gets your attention. I mostly delivered in the northern US, north of I-80. I love the rugged beauty of the north country like the UP of Michigan and the western shore of Lake Superior, north woods of Wisconsin and Minnesota, the Dakotas and Montana.
Total inanity. I didn't realize it was so long. The steel grates with vents along the center lanes were designed to help take the wind force off of the bridge. That wind was a big concern in the construction design. That steel grating adds to the anxiety.

Yes it does
It's kind of fun on a motorcycle too. (Well, that's the way it feels to me. Maybe I'm just not right.😉)

@@chernjackmac Milo is doing great traveling. He is going outside too.
