Stock 1200L transmission with 4.37 diff and 0.93 for the 4th gear. It gives 87...88 km/h at 3000 rpm in 4th gear on 195/65/15 rear tires. Engine is capable of 6000...6200 rpm, but I don''t push it above 5500 rpm.
@@bubot17 No! Look at 2.15 min of the video where I overtaking a car in 3rd and then shift to 4th. In 1200L 3rd gear is 1.26 and 4th gear is 0.93. In the old 1200 gearboxes, as well in Type 1 1500 and Type 3 gearboxes, the 3rd gear is 1.32 and 4th gear is 0.89, i.e. wider and here do exist a gap between 3rd and 4th! In my opinion an 1200L gearbox with 4.12 diff would be ideal for a mild performance 1600 engine in a Bug, Type 3 or Karmann Ghia.
What's your ring and pinion on your transmission
