I have Gold and was going to wait to get Golden until my Gold no longer performed well, but I couldn’t wait. I really wanted the updated shimmers. The tones in Golden work so well for my olive skin, I couldn’t hold back. I love these matte shades. They are true golden toned without leaning orange. The Golden is the INAN for my undertone. (The tan in the mini gold is my favorite crease shade of all time. It is my perfect “neutral”) I love Xenon as a companion palette. I use it all the time that way. Showing these two palettes together was such a great idea!
I think the Golden palette is-from the standpoint of value and true functionality-designed primarily for makeup artists-pro or amateur. It’s for people who need a lot of golden options because they’ll be applying what is basically the same color story but on a variety of people who have different coloring-complexion, hair, and eye. The average consumer will probably settle on a few shades that suit their coloring and esthetic and never use the others. And, as you pointed out, most of us have already found the golden shades and textures that work well for us. I can’t see the average consumer needing to add Golden to their stash unless, of course, they’re a ND collector. All that being said-whew!-I did buy the Xenon palette because I really didn’t have anything that came close to it; not just in its abundance of beautiful whites, grays, and blacks, but also because it has shades that can easily skew looks towards pink or blue. In short, it’s definitely cool and won’t suit everyone, but Xenon has greater versatility for those of us who can rock those cool shades.
But ND is a consumer brand, not pro, and maybe it's because I only wear cool tones but I find the opposite; that 95% of her line is redundant, essentially it's all very warm and/or golden, and most of her midi & large palettes, including this new gold one, contains too many similar shades. I own midi Glam and midi Retro, both of which are much too warm for me, and midi Xenon, which I love and find is more versatile than many claim, but for 15 shadow palettes, it's only possible to create 2-3 different looks because each one has so many shades that look virtually identical on the eyes. Every time I see a new ND release, my initial thought is almost always: surprise surprise, more warm tones 🤣
Very interesting that you chose these two palettes to show together. When I saw Golden, I thought of these as two sides of the same coin. I kept Xenon because it has some shades I have in nothing else. I still have the original Gold palette, so can get the Golden look. Plus the Golden palette is really just 15 shades, same look. No matter what you do. If I had designed that Golden palette, I would have at least included a black, and some duochromes. I'm skipping it for now. If my Gold palette bites the dust, it's nice to know I can get a replacement. Thanks for the video!💚
@@LexiJong It would have given it an edge. I feel like Natasha got lazy with this one. A couple of those shimmers would have been great duochromes. She could have had one with a peacock shift to celebrate the old palette. And a warm rose shift would have been beautiful, and played well with those mattes. So I found the palette disappointing. Just watched Sofia Sees Beauty do the new YSL palettes and fell in love with 3 of them! Including the new gold mini clutch palette. Those are really interesting! I'm sure I'll be seeing those on you soon.🤩
I love warm colors and especially i adore gold colors ❤ They look very flattering on my Greek Mediterranean skintone and also having naturally black hair black eyebrows i tend to wear red lipsticks because nudes wash me off i look sick 😂 So yes this is my dream palette ( and i love peach tones too) and not very dark because i like my eyes that are veryyyy deep brown to wear lighter colors , hate smokey and deep shades 😅 Definitely buying this beauty ❤Love from Greece 🇬🇷 my beautiful Lexi ❤
It's just to much gold for me . I'm very warm golden with blond golden hair and it's just to much gold for me I like cooler alittle more contrast to my skin hair and eyes. I think it wasn't necessary I mean how many gold's do we need from ND if u go back and look at all the pallets and minis their is a ton of gold in everything. I like the matts but I just don't love 10 various gold shades . I almost was like I need it when I saw Alicia's video and I was like come back to earth girl u won't use it just like I never touched the bronze pallet.
So many swatches & comparisons, awesome! 🎉 I picked up the Golden palette coz gold/browns are my absolute favs (and I don't have the original Gold palette). I know most of the palette just looks repetitive, but I like it anyway! 😬 Don't have (and am not interested) by the Xenon...every time I looked at it, I felt like I'd end up looking like I had raccoon/panda eyes with my application skills 😆🤣 Your hair is looking so pretty today ❤

Hi Lexi, did you cut your hair a bit? It looks wonderful and the red lip is a standout look you own! The red lip is in fact the showstopper in this video lol. 😂 The Golden packaging is indeed gorgeous but as you've indicated the inside doesn't quite live up to the exterior excitement and needs some more contrast to keep the looks turning out more or less similar. It's definitely a warm palette so perhaps you didn't need it given the size of your collection. Xenon tones are definitely cool and more in your preference wheelhouse, but again, it's not one that appeals to everyone and tends to also create similar cool, smoky looks which is fine if that's anyone's preference. Again, you likely didn't need this, but the shimmery, sparkly shades are something that probably appeal to you as transformative shades. I think if these palettes were on sale people would be more apt to consider these polar opposite curations, but I also think nd has other better midis which can create a greater variety of looks. Thank you! I'll have the new bronzer and highlighter up this week but so far I'm enjoying both. The 02 is not as warm as some of the recent bronzers we have seen but it isn't as cool as the gucci 01. It's a nice middle shade.

Lexi, very nice video showing two very different color story palettes. I don’t have either of these palettes but I do have the original Gold palette. I do lean towards warm tones so if I had to choose I would go for the Golden it is very pretty. I don’t use many of the shades in Xenon so I skipped that one. Personally, because of the under tones, I like the idea of a monochromatic palette. Depending on the individual monochromatic looks, I feel, are extremely flattering on most people. I have palettes with really different shades in them, and they are always colors I would never use. It’s nice to have a palette where I’ll probably use every single shade- *when I get it! ❤
My collection is entirely cool toned bc warm tones make me look sick and even though I could dupe it many times over, I bought the midi Xenon when it launched and love it. I'm tired of ND at this point as 98% of her releases are very warm and gold, including those she inaccurately describes as cool toned 🙄 and much of the time she frustratingly insists on creating one shade of a product and claim it's universal, which doesn't exist.
Hi Lexi, I’m definitely not interested in these palettes from Natasha D. I tend to prefer traditional 4 color palettes that are less overwhelming- and many of these shimmers are too bold for me. You look stunning today by the way - hair and lipstick color are beautiful.
I think the formula of eyeshadows are great, but neither appeal to me. I do lean cool tone but the Gold palette of these two I can see me using more. Frankly the original with some teals is better but even that, I’d like a bit more to the brownish tones to get more depth. Pass on both for me.
I agree. The Xenon palette seems to have so much variety in it. The golden palette the Sandy camel tones looks so similar. Honestly, if somebody just comes out with the perfect azotic topaz palette would be great. Nobody needs 15 eyeshadow shades in one palette, by the way. I find that every single one of her midi pallettes could have done with at least 3 to 5 less eyeshadows.
Excellent commentary, Lexi. The golden palette seems to show wildly different based on the person’s undertone. I picked this up for the formulation of the mattes. Few palettes offer ease and longevity without talc. (This palette has some shades with talc but none are matte) I don’t do pops ever. I could say they make me dislike a palette so I often avoid more than a quad or quint. I vary looks based on how much of the product I apply and application techniques. In that way subtle differences in undertone are highly emphasized. So long as two or more shades work I’m saving money over two single shadows. 😮 I prefer to remove shades I don’t enjoy and that’s possible with this component.
I have INAN and the Glam Face Palette light. I removed the greys and two of the darker browns making room for the 5 shades from the Glam Face Palette. I might buy the new Golden to add some more warmth in my combined palette, and then one of my friends can get the redundant shades in another combined palette ☺️

I wish the brown’ light tones were a little different. On the eye they look same. Same as xenon palette. I love the xenon because it has shades i don’t have But similar shades but different
Those warm tones just make me look tired and sallow. The Xenon has turned out to be one of my favourites. I took our one of the blacks and put in a metallic rose from the Retro palette and even a cool frosty green from Retro Glam. Fab video, day and night comparison makes it easy if one needs to choose between the two.

Next sale I’m definitely picking up xenon. I probably would have bought the Golden palette if she would have included a few greens. I noticed that the 28 pan palettes are gone. I hope this means that she will bring out smaller palettes with similar color stories! The murky/smokey tones in both the 28’s were dreamy!

Not really royal jungle but grand bal has some similar shades. Grand Bal is actually a little more neutral in the undertones.

The Vieve is a great option and you are right, the Chanel holiday is a great mix of the two palettes.

Amazing video. Thank you so much for doing this Lexi. I have the xenon palette and this video has given me inspo to use it! I see that the new gold palette is not for me. Thank you for showcasing both palettes. I lean towards warm tones but the gold palette is too repetitive. A pass for me. Have a lovely day
