Saw and discovered him a couple years ago at the Paleo Festival in Switzerland. My dad and I were at Paleo and at a bar at the same time as his was playing there. We heard him and we were like... that’s awesome !!
Man I really dig Seasick Dog. Brilliant guy, smart ass who can turn junk into gold, because he's got the MOJO and a golden heart too. And 3lijah wood is such an amazing actor. Have you seen Hooligans? His performance is huge, one the best films on the subject.
Well you know where that story came from. Steve tells it that back when he went over to Europe which is where he became famous, he had a buddy that said hey man you ought to go over and play this festival and do the blues they'll love you over there. But he didn't have a lot of money to fly over so the story goes he hopped on a container ship, kind of like hitched a ride and during the whole trip on the boat he was sick the whole time.
Steve you're a multi-guitarist. I call my 4 string cigar box guitar the "Trance Wonder 4" which is a 4 string version of the 3 string trance wonder and I took that 3 string guitar to a new level by adding on a 4th string for new harmonies.
I actually own another of Steve's Trance Guitars. Same colour, same controls and everything. Made in Japan in the 60's, mine's under the name GHI on the headstock.
i started out with a guitar called a granada ! who ever heard of one ? i never heard f ne before or after to tell u the truth ! now n youtube ! Gerald Criece ! all because f an unknown guitar that got me rockin , my First !
An author released a book , the gaurdian reprinted parts. Read it and it's nothing sensational that the man himself hasn't talked about in various interviews. It appears the Journalist/author has been a little bit liberal with his own hype of the book.
So fuckin what?...Do you think he's the first bluesman to make stuff up? Sonny Boy Williamson II even went so far as stealing a whole name & identity off a still living musician. It's SHOWBIZ & it always was. Realness & authenticity is just some bullshit. Do you like the music or not? That's all that matters.
The UK picked it up and ran with it. The US didn't know what they had, they were just called race records and white kids probably weren't aware of them.
The Guardian released an article in September exposing the fact that during the time he was supposed to have been a homeless blues artist he was in fact a relatively successful session musician. No need to try and be offensive, Mike :) www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2016/sep/29/seasick-steve-session-musician-ramblin-man-book
You can argue with the guardian's politics all you like, but they're pretty reputable when it comes to breaking a story. I don't have a problem with him coming up with the backstory to make his life seem more incredible, it gives him character. But to go "la la la not listening" when you're told that is pig headed.
Gimmick... Good gimmick, but still. No reason to call him a great guitarist. Wish him all the best, but he's not even close to the shadows of actual skillful guitar players. If you think so.. well... laughinstock
This video quality is amazing!
Yup, just like his guitars..
🤣😂
Elijah Wood clearly just jizzed his pants...and who could blame him! Steve is the man!
bahahaha
Saw and discovered him a couple years ago at the Paleo Festival in Switzerland. My dad and I were at Paleo and at a bar at the same time as his was playing there. We heard him and we were like... that’s awesome !!

Elijah Wood is a fucking proper human being.
Steve is an exceptional musician. Someone should give him some Dramamine, then he could be just "Steve"!
U beat me 2 the seasick pun
modest mouse?

Steve is SUCH a natural born guitar-man!
I love Steve
If by love you mean viciously hate... oh... wait... I thought you were talking about Chris Evans again.
Steve you're a multi-guitarist. I call my 4 string cigar box guitar the "Trance Wonder 4" which is a 4 string version of the 3 string trance wonder and I took that 3 string guitar to a new level by adding on a 4th string for new harmonies.

Elija is such a wierd looking cat. Who buttons their top button? This guy
I thought top buttons were a thing or at least they were when this was filmed.
Frodo is back with Gandalf?
Мощнейший мужик этот Стив))
Legend end of 🙃
Later Elijah shows off his wood to Steve
It's amazing to think this guy is an ex-Navy fighter pilot.
I'd would have totally jammed with the cat.
Ok does anybody know what tuning the junk yard slide guitar is in please let me know
A Sharp D?
its tuned in Seasick E
No idea. The 3 string trance wonder is open G tuning with all three D strings removed
Gendalf 2.0
Стив👍
Gandalf has let himself go.
Woods just shows up and people let him on tv.
Who's that kid next to Steve?
/
Ladyboy.
Young jeremy spencer of fleetwood mac
He does jam would have been a good guy to bring out st a GRATEFUL DEAD SHOW
I'm his great great great nephew. Huh
Steve Leach
Elija has to sit there next to a man who was broke for most of his life but is way cooler than hell ever be
Gullible, eh? Steve makes most of this shit up.
Who's seasick Steve ?
Never heard of him ....
Your uncle! :D
Seasick Steve.. aka: James Hetfield in 2030
Why would this guy have a southern accent?
Probably born in the south or something.
Because why not?
Huh?
He spent many years down south after he left California. Tennessee and Mississippi for 10 years or so..
Pretentious hobo
Steve is a fake he used to be a disco singer in the 70s and then he invented a fake back story do the research.
We don't need to do the research when we have dickhead know-it-alls like you to tell us.
..and it's easy knowing you don't have the blues in ya. You'd spot his authenticity a mile off if you did.
yep, guy was a session muso and ihas traded on the fake hobo thing for years.
Theres a reason the guitars only have 3 strings, its tuned to sound good that way
Did they honestly just rush Seasick Steve for a run of the mill One Show rubbish story that no one gives a shiny shit about.
alot of talking
Un sonido soberbio ...
The brits seem uncomfortable with all the blues this dude is playing, they stopped him before he could get going on any of these
He had to come here to be appreciated.
their stiff British behinds got a bit squeaky
The blues movement started in the UK in the 1960s
@@handymanny6615 me arse it began in the 1800s in America
The UK picked it up and ran with it. The US didn't know what they had, they were just called race records and white kids probably weren't aware of them.
Shame he's a fake.
do explain, im curious.......what makes u say that, he seems pretty down to earth and a great player

Oh no, don't tell me a musician has embellished his back story! Bluesmen have never been known to do that...Except for all of them.
Gimmick... Good gimmick, but still.
No reason to call him a great guitarist.
Wish him all the best, but he's not even close to the shadows of actual skillful guitar players.
If you think so.. well... laughinstock
Jealousy is not a good colour on you mate.
He thinks he's funny but he really isn't.
