Not many people in the world can make 3 strings sound so good as Seasick Steve does... Kudos to an iconic singer like Tom Jones for bringing a virtual unknown player like Steve on stage with him!
@@joev4483 Steve tunes GGB, basically GMaj. Easiest way to do this is to take off your low E, your D, and your high E then tune to GGB. I have a guitar tuned this way and it's a ton of fun. All the fun of an Open G tuning without the hassle of those pesky D strings lol.
I finally got to see Tom Jones a few years ago. At Pacific Amphitheater Costa Mesa CA. What a wonderful entertainer. Now these two together ❤️❤️ amazing .
I'm sure Tom Jones will never see our comments to this video but I hope he knows we think he's one of the finest blues singers who ever lived, and coming from someone in the deep south of the US, I think I speak for us all in this region from whence the genre was introduced to the UK.
Such a wonderfully, honestly said and truthful compliment to Sir Tom Jones. I've written it down and someplace will quote you. He will probably never see your original comment or me quoting you but I hope he realizes fully that he is one of the finest blues singers ever. He really is a blues man and always has been. Thank you.
@@lindamclean7234 Thanks so much. Fans who appreciate such amazing talent don't often get to tell the artists how much they like them, however, I'm sure he's been told often enough. Please feel free to quote me. ~ Ron Vincent ~ (originally from Alabama, USA)
Just came across this, brilliant. Tom Jones always had a great voice and this is first time I’ve heard of Seasick Steve, and 3 strings?….wow. Pure Blues magic 👏👏👏🔥🔥🎤🎸🎶🎶
I remember the first time I heard Tom Jones I thought he was a brother , Come to find out he was white .He had soul And he can sing !!! And Seasick Steve when the man walks across a hardwood floor you can hear the RHYTHM !!!
Tom’s an all-time great, but this video is a reminder of just how good singer Steve is. I nearly plotzed when I first saw this. Tom? And Steve? Together? Take me now, Lord!
'cause you been lookin' in the wrong charts all these times ... real music by real people isn't to be found in any chart from the music industry, it's in the soul!
Listening to this, there are no words to describe the haunting vocals and tune. I could not think of two better people to bounce the lyrics off of each other, than these two. This is simply a masterclass of just having fun and doing what you love. Sir Tom's vocals are epic even when he is not singing loudly. Seasick's guitar playing on a three string guitar is epic also. Just epic all round, if it doesn't touch your soul then you don't appreciate music. Epic!
First saw seasick steve on jools holland i been a fan ever since . His storys of hobos and living in the mountains are hilarious but his roots have served him well over the years .a grounded artist who is genuine in lifr ....very hard to find ...look at Ren these days true to himself and his fanbase . We need more humans like them !
In the past I have seen another video that goes with this. It is with Tom and seems to be at the same venue. It is excellent as well. But I have not been able to find it i a long time.
Brill, taped this off the Jools Holland show a few years ago, I know it's not a Stones cover song, but this is the ultimate version can't give it enough praise 🔥💯👏
Yes of course Mick in there would be perfect, the movie Gimme Shelter in 1970 and the segment with Mick n Keef doing it will stay with me till I die, the Fonda version is good also, seen em 3 nights in a row Earls Court '76 Billy Preston Mick Ron & Keith in a huddle at the microphone great version also, wish I could go back🔥🇮🇪
Steve and Tom doing the Lord's work, smiling through each other's eyes, not sure who is who...feeling good just the same, beyond race and religion - where the lion lies down with the lamb
He's a tricky guy. In '67 sitting in a Wimpy in England, the guy at the next table says Hi. He tells us he's there with the Englebert band that was the warm up for the Tom Jones show. O.K.. Except the guy was actually Tom. No wonder I been singing this song alone. Seagulls eat clam. Tell all them Heaven Fish about that.
Ronnie I'm not hear for long please sung a song for me your my favorite guitarist in the world even above Keith as far as I'm conserved your the greatest stone you've had more influence than all stones im cheering for you Ron God bless from Hazard Ky
when elvis met tom jones elvis said where did you learn to sing like that tom said i learnt from you elvis and tom they say live love and leave a legacy fellas i and millions of others thank you both and more❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Two fucking legends of pop music ... The mainstream can not apart this kind of pop songs masters ... By different ways the soul of their music to made it
2 old guys and a 3 string guitar - priceless 👌 😍

Are the 3 strings in open G? Thanks!

Thanks for the info!! 😊
This sounds fun. I might have a tinker with 3 strings later.
Tom Jones and seasick y'all are some bad dudes that's the prettiest song I've ever heard
How special was THAT? OMG, such magic to bring these 2 together.
Tom Jones is brilliant
No doubt. Seasick is no chump look who he's playing with and the people love it.
No rendition of any song makes me instantly smile like this one. I love them both. Fantastic.
Two of my favorite singers. Great job, fellas 😊
I could listen to these two greats all night long, superb blues 👍
Dang, 3 strings...dude can draw it outta one...takes me back to my childhood, kids drummin' , pencils on desks,an awesome way to start a class.
I did not expect to hear the blues played like this in the now.both brilliant performers of real blues.
U looking for legends..its right here before ur eyes..the masters at work! Old style..best style..when u got class..nothing else matters!❤

Worth having a listen to seasick
Worth seeing him live if you ever get the chance.
Saw him live about 10yrs ago in Glasgow, he took my missus on stage and sang "walking Man" to her. Incredible night. @@sirmurf
Interesting paring. They both sound Great!!! Always loved Tom's voice.
We need more.. It was amazing!... The people have spoke! Please do more together X
Now, I especially like that these fine musical entertainers acknowledged Miss'ippi Fred. THAT I approve of. Dig it.
I remember the first time I heard Tom Jones I thought he was a brother , Come to find out he was white .He had soul And he can sing !!! And Seasick Steve when the man walks across a hardwood floor you can hear the RHYTHM !!!
Tom Jones can sing any style there is and it sounds beautiful.
Agreed! Tom Jones has always been a low-key blues man though..
Well said.
@@laquerhead024 He did a good number with Hugh Laurie who is also a great blues player / singer

I can just get so lost in blues! I love it!
🙏
Love them singly, but together phenomenal!

This is like, its mucis, just good old pure music. this is just so cool !
Against all expectations, that kicked ass!
Tom Jones, a generous artist.
Think I’ve died and gone to heaven. Superb sound.
This suits Tom down to the ground. I love his blues voice. He needs to do an album with Seasick Steve.
Tom looks like hes having fun
The blues are pure innocence this IS what today's music is missing
It's missing..... soul
A lot of blues is anything but innocent.
It's most definitely not innocent.
Tom Jones freaking Legend
Seasick is just amazing
Freakin awesome!👍😎🎸🎶
Yes it is
Definitely with you on freaking awesome.

Great, GREAT stuff!!
Tom Jones only sings with the best
He can make some tune with those 3 strings , Tom can still deliver on the song

I loved hearing both of these greats! Nothing they can’t sing or play
Steve is amazing. If he could have been found sooner he could have been huge. Very un derrated voice.
Genuine good ol’ boy just doing him and what he loves. Play on brother! ❤
The Rolling Stones got me really liking that song, along with Prodigal Son.
Ace two great guys together..

BRILLIANT Tom's a LIVING LEGEND! And Seasick Steve is well capable too! Great duet 👍😎🏴🇬🇧🙏
Absolutely beautiful
Simple and stripped down music
Tim’s voice is still golden and Steve’s groove is still rocking
Age is just a number
Seasick does some amazing work with John Paul Jones as well.

I would like Jagger singing with them

I'm not sure jagger would fit here. Think 2 is more than enough. Keep it simple.
