Surya Ponggal is marathi brahminised version, as they don't farm, so they replaced farmers term into their vedic god!

Agriculturally it's also day to choose alpha bull to mate cows in urban herding...
In Tamil Nadu, it's jalli kattu = fencing so aggressive bulls tamed within the fencing area...
Those experience with wild cattles, may know how wild bulls & buffalos will come into village areas during their mating season...
Eventually this bull taming season coincide with post monsoon harvest!
So rather than chasing & fencing wild cattles, Tamil farmers smartly used sweet rice@ponggal & sugarcanes to lure wild bulls into their barns..

Many cultures across the world have their own version of harvest festival... Sadly, in our modern times everything has to be looked at from a religious perspective.
It is a cultural harvest festival like Gawai or Kaamatan.

Speaking about being not completely loyal, i was just wondering under whose premiership did our currency rate become lower than our neighbouring country.
The current average lifestyle of a Malaysian regardless of race and religion is to slogg to earn money and pay debts/bill till the end of his life. Credit card, loans for study, loan for car, loan house, children education, medical, groceries, Astro, electric, jamban usage bill and the list just goes on and on.

Tamil language, culture is still alive and strong even after 2000years. its the only ancient culture and language (pre dates Sanskrit/Latin) still used to date by a large race, others like Sanskrit, Latin dead or almost...other culture and language can find it roots in Tamil, e.g. east Asia and Europe...lately the Harrapan findings confirms the Aryan theory is fake, no such thing happen. and that the ppl/culture back then (over 8000years) can trace its DNA to the Indian decedents today including the Tamil ppl.....so Tamil ppl do not be shy, continue spreading this culture/lingo (I'm starting now myself after 40years), teach the next generations etc....don't bother what that racist old man said, he is delusional he cant even accept his own identity.....be proud of your identity, heritage, culture, faith same time be loyal patriotic to the land we were born as she has given us a home....
