Hello Summer!! So, I tried this haircut on myself last week! I did it on myself...and it turned out beautiful!! So, what happened was while face framing, I got a lil too engrossed & started finely cutting and texturing my hair & ended up having them shorter which obviously wasn't planned. I wanted to maintain my length but also wanted some volume, as you've shown in this haircut tutorial. But then I later did my remaining haircut in accordance with the length of my face framing. But oh my the end results: Beautiful layers and wonderful texture, and that shorter face frame suits me so well! My mom said this is the best haircut I've had and my dad just couldn't believe how I was able to cut my own hair from behind! I told him it was all because of my wonderful virtual teacher : Summer! So, thankyou once again beautiful❤️for helping me cut my hair so well & professionally!🥰 love you, really! Oh yeah, and it also looks good when I part my hair in middle!

So glad you enjoy the channel! As far as real people vs mannequins, from a teaching aspect it's not technically much different. All licensed stylist's start off learning on mannequins! Any video I have done with a live model really has not performed well and it is a ton of work to find a model who is willing to be subject to filming, open to any haircut and sit through the hours it takes to actually film these tutorials. I'm not saying I'll never use a live model, it's just not always as easy as one would assume.
@@StylesBySummer I TOTALLY understand that Summer, I am myself a certified makeup artist and me nor my classmates could not find any model! This is very tedious and makeup cannot be done on mannequins. Do whatever is easy for you 💖
Only issue: when starting the beginning, the two pieces in front to cut the face framing: the piece from the heavier side- once it is cut after being brought over to the middle part, and then goes back the side it belongs, it is shorter than the thinner side because it now has farther to travel. I attempted to even out my pieces and now heavier side is shorter than thinner side.
Summer, at what elevation do I do the back if I just want the last 3 to 4 inches of my hair layered in the back? I don't want my shortest layer in the back of my head to be too high. Thanks
