I never really leave comments on UA-cam videos but after watching this I NEED to. All I can say is THANKYOU!!! This video has some really valuable information that has inspired some new ideas for me and my business partner.
I'm based in Indiana USA and sounds like we're in the exact same industry. Biggest point I took away from this was focusing on the core service and make everything else an upsell. Thank you for the great content!
Oh wow i never realised you was so close to me in the UK! :O I have just started my own Videography Company and you inspire me to do great things! Thank you! love the content!
This is so amazing! I am in the process of starting my own media company and this is gold! Thank you so much for your generosity in making this content so accessible. If this is the free content I can only imagine what the Perspective Academy has to offer! I hope to find out very soon!
Ross, I recently quit my job to job into full time video production and the timing of this video couldn't be more perfect. You gave me a lot of insight and ideas that I didn't have before. Thank you so much for the help.
Thank you SOOO much! I spent the past couple of years getting equipment; cameras, lights, software, etc. and have NO clients! You have given me great info and insight. I appreciate you! Louisville, Kentucky, USA. :)
So true about not selling every service you offer in the first email too, I've done that and never recieved a response to a cold email that way. No brainer when you take a step back and think about it.
Hey Ross I found this video on my UA-cam feed a few minutes ago and I’m super glad! Earlier this week, I finished my first ever video project and uploaded it here on UA-cam (it’d be awesome if you checked it out!). Based on the experience I gained from this shoot and the feedback I’ve received in the past 3 days on Instagram and UA-cam, I’ve decided to go all in and make this my profession. However I’ve been a fair bit befuddled as I couldn’t quite figure out what to do next. Your video has provided me with heaps of clarity. I’m gonna start building my portfolio website and begin reaching out to small businesses around me now. I’ll surely be binging your channel first, thank you so much for putting out such great advice, it makes a lot of sense. Best of luck!
Thank you so much. I took notes on all your tips, and now I feel that having this information laid out in a simplified format gives me more confidence in working towards creating a Video Production Company. Now Subscribed!
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I started a drone production company last year and It's been pretty difficult for me to get it off the ground. I haven't finished the video yet but just wanted to say thank you for providing so much valuable information for free! I couldn't say thank you enough. Learning new stuff gets me excited to implement it in my own business!

I am looking to start my business this year. It was actually on my 2022 resolutions list so this video came into my feed at a great time and was so incredibly helpful to get my foothold in the industry. I live in a rural area in Iowa, USA where the market is definitely calling for somebody to show these businesses how to move into this century. Thank you for the advice and I subscribed so that I can hopefully get some more along my journey
Ive watched so many of these types of videos to build my creative agency and this honestly simply explained it, I benefited alot mate, thank you👏 watched your revent video, all the best on your company, it wont fail
ALWAYS HAVE NDA's/NON-COMPETE DOCUMENTS! I've worked with many freelancers over the years and eventually, on a LONG time client, I brought a new person in to help cover a last minute gig. -- guess what? They then "gave the client their info" and tried booking work directly for future projects... Thankfully I told them that's not cool, I told them that it would be titled "poaching a client" and they agreed to not work with the client or take work. Guess what? 99% of the time freelancers all do NDA with me using an online e-sign. But this one slipped through the cracks because it was getting sorted out the night before the shoot and we didn't know if it was even gonna really happen until the day of... Don't risk a good long-term client to a freelancer unless they sign an NDA. And a well written one will have a non-compete of say 12 or 24 months, rolling based on the last payable day of work for your company.
For the Sales process you could also Qualify clients beforehand in order to have Sales Calls only with clients that have the budget and that want to work with you.
I really Enjoyed your video Ross I found it very informative and I plan to implement your strategies into my business. Thank you, keep up the great work.
Hi Ross! Thanks for your amazing content, it really helps! I am just starting out with paid work and have reached out to a lot of businesses already. To my surprise, a lot of people answered back and were really interested. But there my problem starts. Because as soon as I try to talk to people, the answer usually is that they don't have any money for at the moment but will get back to me in the future. So I was wondering, how you go about in such a meeting and are able to sell your services. Could you please run through a demonstration or more tips for actually booking the client? That would be really amazing and helpful, because I'm stuck. Thanks and take care!
Hey! Awesome to hear that you've had some initial success! I'll try and do a video on objection handling as that will help (its added to my list). Take a look at this video too which might help: ua-cam.com/video/xooy8JcZHBY/v-deo.html
Hi Ross. Those are very valuable tips. I've also us Google maps and Linked In to look for clients. Where I live, most small to mid-sized companies don't want to pay for services. They only find value on tangible things like machineries, computers, etc. This is why some companies that I like to offer my services to already do video themselves. They usually just give the job to someone in the marketing or HR department so they don't have to pay. How do I convince these companies to outsource video production? Thanks!
Hey! Thanks for the message! There are 2 options, look outside of your area or try and convince them. The best way of convincing them is to show them what you can do. Maybe ask how much would they be willing to pay too. You might not be miles apart 🤞
Hey Ross, thanks for creating this video! Appreciate you for sharing valuable lessons for freelancers like myself. Liked and Subscribed! Cheers from New York!
This is amazing. Thank you for this wonderful video Mr Ross it has really been helpful to me. A lot of knowledge to get, I'll surely walk this talk. Thanks again 🤝
What materials are needed and what type of software is needed? Also, what do you recommend as far as checking and un-checking boxes in customization of software if you was a musician looking to produce his own music videos at the same time you record a song or album?
Great video mate. I am soon moving to the UK from Australia. Are there any tips that you could provide me about pricing in the UK and types of markets that are available there? I have been shooting events like weddings and seminars along with some music videos and outdoor things. I will be in the West Yorkshire area

My biggest thing is I keep running into business owners that tell me they don’t see the value in having that much content a month(retainer videos) because they’re doing well with business already. Would you recommend only finding businesses that are starting up rather than a successful business?
Or does that mean those type of business owners are “comfortable” where they’re at so that’s why they don’t see or want to see the value in having promotional videos?
Hey! It works for most brands but you need to determine industries with a need of lots of content! Take a look at the training on this too Training.perspectiveacademy.co.uk
